Chapter 820 - Chapter 819: Returning to What He Does Best

However, such a peaceful life couldn't belong to Cain for long.

Team Heaven and Team Void had been entangled for a month, and the situation had become increasingly evident over time.

At first, Team Void tried to infiltrate more members into the back mountains, hoping to slowly penetrate and take over Team Heaven without bloodshed.

But after Cain discovered the first group of Team Void members, Skye and the others began actively searching for them.

Just as Cain expected, throughout the month, small groups from Team Void attempted to enter the back mountains one after another.

However, all these groups were eliminated by Skye and the others.

When Team Void received no news from the operatives, they began to suspect something. The following teams also failed to return, which eventually drew their attention.

They then sent stronger members, leading Skye and the others to personally step in.

Yesterday, Team Void sent a full squad of advanced-level members, who managed to get close to Team Heaven's headquarters.

However, Team Heaven had many members, and Skye and the other three were present. In the end, although the five enemies fought to the death, only two managed to escape badly injured, while the other three were captured.

Even so, Team Heaven suffered considerable losses.

After all, these were five advanced-level members. Although Skye and the others made four, the fifth enemy was dealt with by a large number of regular members, which left many injured.

With two people escaping, it was inevitable that they would report to their superiors.

This time, Team Void seemed to have assessed Team Heaven's capabilities.

Four advanced-level members were far stronger than the former Black Snake group, but they were still no match for Team Void.

Especially since there was no quasi-elite-level expert within Team Heaven.

Skye immediately informed Cain of the situation.

For Cain, this meant that Team Void would soon send a quasi-elite-level member, which would finally give him the opportunity to act against them.

If Team Void's leaders had remained hidden in Mauville City, it would have been difficult for Cain to confront them. But now the situation was different: by taking the initiative, Team Void had offered Cain a chance.

Even in the world of crime, justifying one's actions is important. Before a confrontation, groups often discredit their opponents to find a suitable excuse.

Now, Team Void had provided Cain with the perfect excuse.

...

Cain, accompanied by his Pokémon, settled into Team Heaven's headquarters, awaiting Team Void's arrival.

After Cain decided to act, Skye and the others were finally able to relax.

During this time, they had been under constant tension. They knew Team Void was no small organization, and Team Heaven's only real advantage was Cain.

Without his intervention, a quasi-elite-level trainer would be unbeatable for them.

Team Void turned out to be even more cautious than Cain expected. On the first day Cain waited at the headquarters, no one showed up.

It wasn't until the night of the second day that Slowking detected movement.

Without alerting anyone, Cain dressed in black and put on a white mask with a crying face. With the help of Slowking's Teleport move, he vanished from Team Heaven's base.

Team Void members were approaching, though they hadn't yet entered the security perimeter. Still, Slowking's psychic abilities detected them.

Cain decided not to involve Skye and the others. A large group would be less efficient than acting alone.

Thanks to Slowking's Teleport move, Cain appeared behind a group of people dressed in dark purple clothing—the signature uniform of Team Void.

With a cold smile on his face, Cain recalled how long it had been since he'd last done this kind of task. However, these skills were deeply ingrained in his subconscious, and now, with much greater power than in his past life, he didn't expect to fail.

Cain returned Slowking to his Pokéball. What he was about to do wasn't suitable for a Pokémon like him.

He threw out three Pokéballs, releasing Honchkrow, Weavile, and Gengar.

They would be the stars of this operation—the most suited for missions like this.

Together, Cain and his Pokémon sank into the darkness.

With his black plumage, Honchkrow moved stealthily. Weavile, as agile as ever, and Gengar, able to hide in the shadows, formed a perfect team: unstoppable assassins in the night.

Cain used his psychic powers to silence the sound of his footsteps, while his Pokémon operated without needing additional instructions.

In the dark forest—where Cain once felt limited by the lack of visibility—his psychic abilities now allowed him to perceive his surroundings with great clarity.

The Team Void members were scattered, each following their own path. This indicated they did not belong to the direct team of a leader, and that even among themselves, there was distrust.

This situation gave Cain a tactical advantage.

Silently, he approached the last member of the group. Before he could react, his Pokémon was immobilized by Gengar. Against a quasi-elite-level Pokémon, a lower-level opponent stood no chance.

Cain covered the man's mouth while Weavile, from the shadows, slit his throat with its sharp claws.

Cain then opened a small dimensional portal and tossed the body and the Pokémon inside.

All of this happened in less than a second.

Without leaving a trace, Cain moved on to his next target.

With the precise coordination between Weavile, Honchkrow, and Gengar, Cain was able to eliminate two people at once before they could even react.

As he repeated this process, Cain became more efficient, quickly regaining his deadly finesse.

The Team Void members, eager to reach Team Heaven's base and carry out a surprise attack, suspected nothing.

The leader of the group, confident, believed it would be an easy task. He thought that without a quasi-elite-level Pokémon, Team Heaven wouldn't pose a challenge.

With that in mind, he had only brought a small squad—fewer than thirty people—to infiltrate the back mountains.

Just ten minutes from Team Heaven's base, the leader ordered his men to stop and prepare for battle.

But as he turned around, he realized there was no sound behind him.
