Chapter 45 - chapter 45

Chapter 45:

– Valerie –

I bit back a curse as a thick, barbed stinger slammed into my stomach, punching straight through my skin—and probably my intestines, considering how it felt. Hot pain flared, but somehow it didn't hurt as badly as I expected.

Maybe I was finally building up some pain tolerance. About damn time.

In front of me stood another one of that asshole devil's monstrous chimeras—this one a twisted blend of gorilla and scorpion, brute muscle and armored plates with an oversized, venom-dripping tail that had just punched into my gut. Its ugly, mismatched eyes narrowed hungrily at me.

"Oh, you fucking wish," I snarled at it defiantly.

Before the beast could rip its stinger free, I lunged forward, sinking my sharp fangs directly into its armored tail. Its exoskeleton cracked loudly beneath my jaws. A foul, bitter taste flooded my mouth as its disgusting blood poured down my throat, and I nearly gagged from the vile liquid. But as repulsive as it was, the blood immediately surged through me.

With a grunt, I grabbed hold of the mangled remains of its tail, ignoring the burning pain still radiating from my stomach, and violently wrenched the massive chimera clean off its feet. It screeched in surprised terror, flailing uselessly as I swung it over my head!

"Eat shit, ugly!" I shouted, slamming it down with bone-shattering force. The beast's huge body hit the polished floor so hard the tiles shattered, a spiderweb of cracks spreading rapidly beneath it.

Before it could even think about getting back up, I yanked out my enchanted revolver and emptied every last one of my remaining holy rounds directly into its twitching carcass. Its screech became a pitiful, dying whine, limbs convulsing violently until it finally collapsed into stillness. Black smoke rose from the charred bullet holes where my blessed ammunition had punched straight through its monstrous flesh.

Panting, I glanced quickly to my left. Narcissa was fighting her own chimera. Ironically, even though the Killing Curse had failed spectacularly, a simple Incendio charm was working wonders against the monster's corrupted hide. Fire seemed to be a universal weakness for monsters.

The creature writhed, screaming hideously as orange-red fire engulfed it completely. Narcissa showed no mercy. The intensity in her icy eyes was mesmerizing, reminding me again why I adored her so fucking much. Damn, I'd never seen anyone look so breathtakingly gorgeous while committing violent monster murder.

Snarling in frustration nearby was that arrogant devil scientist from the Naberius clan—whoever or whatever the fuck they were. He glared at the fallen corpses of his chimeras, clearly pissed that his so-called 'superior creations' had been taken down so quickly.

"Impossible!" he spat furiously, stamping one foot like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. "You miserable creatures were supposed to subdue them, not get slaughtered!"

He thrust an accusing finger toward me, barking sharply, "What are you waiting for? Tear the dhampir apart! Capture her now!"

My large, blood-red vampire wings burst out of my back with a sharp rush of air. Damn, I'd have to watch the ceiling—the boutique wasn't exactly built for aerial combat.

I quickly beat my wings, lifting off the ground just in time. A chimera, this one resembling some twisted, mangy tiger patched together from stray devils and beasts, lunged beneath me with a frustrated snarl. Its enormous paws swiped uselessly through empty space.

"Too slow!" I mocked, flapping again to steady myself mid-air. With a burst of speed, I dropped directly onto its broad, muscular back. Grabbing a tight fistful of its patchy fur, I yanked back hard, grinning viciously as the chimera let out an agonized roar. "Bad kitty," I scolded playfully, tightening my grip even further as it bucked wildly beneath me, desperate to throw me off.

Another chimera—this one a weird, bear-like monstrosity with crab-like claws—charged directly toward us, clearly intending to attack me while I was distracted. I braced myself, ready to dodge, but then something surprising happened. The pissed-off tiger chimera, apparently deciding it didn't appreciate the intrusion, lashed out with one massive claw and struck its fellow monster right across its ugly face.

The bear-crab chimera screeched horribly as blackish blood sprayed from the deep wounds carved into its flesh. It reeled back, snarling in pain and rage.

I laughed openly, gleefully mocking our supposed genius devil scientist as he watched his carefully crafted beasts turn on each other. "Great teamwork, guys!" I shouted sarcastically, turning briefly toward him. "Keep this up, and you won't even need me to kill you all!"

The scientist, red-faced and visibly furious, stomped his foot like a bratty child throwing a tantrum. "No, you stupid beasts! Stop attacking each other, you worthless experiments! Kill the dhampir, not each other!"

His shouting made him careless. Across the boutique, Narcissa seized the opportunity, eyes narrowed dangerously as she leveled her wand straight at the distracted devil.

"Avada Kedavra!" she shouted sharply.

This time, the asshole seemed fresh out of monsters to summon as meat shields. Panic flashed across his arrogant face as he noticed the incoming curse at the last possible second. He cursed loudly, diving sideways and crashing clumsily into a display rack full of lingerie, just barely escaping the blast of deadly green magic.

"Nice shot, Narcissa!" I called encouragingly.

But Narcissa didn't get the chance to finish him off. Another chimera barreled straight toward her—this one some repulsive hybrid of giant snake and shark, a monstrous fusion slithering on muscular coils while snapping razor-sharp jaws. It smashed carelessly through racks of lacy bras and panties, scattering expensive lingerie everywhere in its violent path as it lunged at Narcissa, jaws gaping hungrily.

"Shit!" Narcissa shouted, scrambling back, blasting another spell hastily at the advancing monstrosity.

I gritted my teeth, already shifting to help her—but I wasn't going anywhere just yet. Beneath me, the enraged tiger chimera bucked and twisted violently.

I tightened my grip on my revolver and pressed the barrel firmly against the back of the snarling tiger-chimera's skull, ready to blow its monstrous brains out. My finger hovered on the trigger—then a better idea flashed through my mind.

Why waste bullets when I have magic?

I quickly shifted the revolver in my grip, channeling my magic through the weapon, aiming precisely at the base of its skull. "Imperio," I whispered fiercely, pouring my willpower into the spell.

The effect was instant. The raging beast beneath me froze, its muscles tensing briefly before relaxing entirely. Its wild thrashing ceased immediately, replaced by a passive, obedient stillness. It was almost laughably easy—its twisted mind was apparently crafted for compliance, ready-made for subjugation.

A victorious grin curled across my lips as I shouted across the boutique. "Narcissa! Hit it with an Imperius Curse—they're weak to mind-control!"

Narcissa dodged nimbly to the side, just barely avoiding a vicious strike from her opponent's snapping shark jaws. Trusting me without hesitation, she quickly whipped her wand forward. "Imperio!"

Her monstrous attacker instantly froze mid-lunge, its elongated body sagging obediently onto the ruined floor. Its violent assault ended as swiftly as if someone had flipped a switch. Narcissa smiled triumphantly, breathing deeply in relief as she regained her footing.

The Naberius asshole stood there gaping, stunned into silence for a moment. Then rage flooded his features, and he furiously stomped his foot against the cracked marble tiles, practically frothing at the mouth as he screamed at his creations.

"What the hell are you doing? Kill them, you worthless beasts! I don't care about capturing them alive anymore—tear them apart! EAT THEM!"

His voice broke with anger and panic, but his monsters remained perfectly still, quietly awaiting our orders.

"Sorry, asshole," I mocked, smirking triumphantly as I stroked the back of my docile new kitty pet. "These lovely pets of yours take orders from us now."

I gave a mental command, and felt my chimera respond immediately. With shocking speed, the tiger monster surged forward, huge paws pounding against the floor. The bear-crab chimera barely had time to react before my enslaved beast violently tackled it, claws and teeth savagely ripping into its corrupted flesh.

The screeching and roaring filled the boutique as the two creatures grappled, tearing chunks from one another in a vicious frenzy of blood and fur and splintered exoskeleton. My Imperiused chimera clearly had the advantage, driven by ruthless obedience and feral aggression.

Across the store, Narcissa smiled coldly and flicked her wand, sending her massive shark-snake monstrosity slithering rapidly across the ruined boutique floor straight toward the scientist himself. Its long, powerful coils crushed display racks beneath it, scattering lingerie and broken debris everywhere.

The arrogant devil scientist's eyes bulged in shock and terror, his face draining rapidly of all its smug confidence. A dark, wet stain suddenly spread across the front of his pants as he staggered backward, frantically waving his hands in futile desperation.

"No—stop, you idiotic beast!" he shrieked pitifully, stumbling over fallen lingerie racks. "I made you—I command you to stop! Don't you dare!"

I snorted with laughter, thoroughly enjoying his humiliating panic. "Aw, look! Our big bad evil scientist pissed himself!" I called loudly, my voice dripping with derision.

Narcissa's smile widened, her voice dripping venom as she echoed my amusement. "How pathetic."

Then, with savage delight, we both watched as Narcissa's enslaved chimera lunged violently toward the sobbing devil!

The monstrous snake-shark chimera slammed violently into the terrified scientist, its massive coils quickly wrapping around his trembling body. He let out a shrill, panicked scream—one that cut off abruptly into a sickening gargle as the creature tightened its muscular body, constricting mercilessly. Wet crunching noise echoed through the shop, accompanied by a sudden wheezing from the devil. Clearly, a couple of his ribs had just snapped like twigs.

The fight was finally over. I released a breath I'd been holding, my adrenaline still pumping from the brutal fight we'd just survived. My wings folded comfortably against my back as I turned quickly toward Narcissa, worry bubbling up inside my chest.

"Narcissa, are you okay?" I asked softly, eyes carefully examining her. Her elegant clothes were scuffed and dirty from the fight, and a thin line of blood trickled down her cheek from a shallow cut—but overall she looked mostly unhurt.

"I'm fine, Mistress," Narcissa assured me immediately, her voice soothingly calm despite her disheveled appearance. Her soft blue eyes shone warmly with relief as she saw my own mostly uninjured state. "Just a few scratches, nothing to worry about."

Satisfied, I nodded once before turning my attention back to the captured devil. He was still imprisoned by the chimera's muscular coils, squirming weakly and gasping in pain. With purposeful steps, I strode confidently over to him, stopping close enough that he could see the fury in my eyes.

I leaned forward, fixing him with a deadly glare. "Who the fuck sent you after me?" I demanded icily, my voice carrying a clear, unspoken threat. "Was it the Tepes clan? Answer me, you pathetic piece of shit!"

Even broken and trapped, the devil sneered weakly, his eyes burning with stubborn defiance. "Go fuck yourself, dhampir," he spat hatefully, his breath coming in pained gasps. "I'm not telling you shit, you half-breed trash."

A cold, dangerous smile slowly curled across my lips. "Oh, that's perfectly fine," I purred, gently stroking his bruised cheek mockingly. "If you won't talk willingly, I'll just pull it straight from your memories myself."

Without further warning, I roughly grabbed his hair, yanking his head sharply aside. Ignoring his panicked gasps, I plunged my fangs into his exposed throat.

A rush of hot, thick blood immediately flooded my mouth, sliding down my throat like molten velvet. A familiar, intoxicating heat ignited deep within my core, warmth rapidly pooling between my thighs. I shivered in pleasure, thighs pressing together instinctively as the addictive sweetness filled my body. Devil blood always had this frustratingly arousing effect on me.

But as delicious as it felt, I forced myself to concentrate, pushing past the haze of desire to probe deeper into his recent memories. I wasn't as skilled as my father Alucard—not yet, anyway. I couldn't easily tear out entire lifetimes of memories and souls with pinpoint precision. Still, I managed to access his freshest, most immediate thoughts.

What I saw made my stomach twist with disgust.

Images flashed through my mind—dark, sterile laboratories beneath the Naberius mansion filled with cells holding frightened creatures of every supernatural species. Humans, fallen angels, other devils—even innocent animals. The Naberius Clan routinely kidnapped, tortured, dissected, and experimented mercilessly, trying desperately to create some twisted new type of superweapon.

Fucking sickening.

I forced myself to look deeper, diving further into the devil's memories, searching for his reasons for specifically targeting me.

The Naberius Clan had been approached by someone—a human, or at least human-looking—speaking with a distinctively German accent. He'd specifically mentioned me, my father Alucard, and even Seras. The human had made some kind of deal with these bastard devils, but frustratingly I couldn't quite make out exactly what he wanted or who he really was.

I strained harder, trying desperately to uncover more—but it was useless. I'd already absorbed too much. His thoughts faded away rapidly as his soul was almost entirely drained into me, leaving nothing behind but hazy echoes. Damn it. Maybe in the future, I'd get Dad to teach me how to properly interrogate absorbed souls.

Sighing in frustration, I pulled away from the now lifeless devil, licking the last drops of delicious blood from my lips. My heart was pounding, my breathing heavy and uneven.

Slowly, I became aware of how deeply, embarrassingly aroused I'd become from drinking his blood. My cheeks flushed hot as I realized my thighs were wet, slick and trembling with a pleasure I'd barely even registered consciously.

Fuck. I'd orgasmed while I was spaced out…

I turned sheepishly to Narcissa, only to find her standing there, grinning at me as she offered me a clean white towel she'd conjured.

I groaned softly, quickly snatching the towel from her outstretched hand and hurriedly wiping my thighs clean. "Damn devil blood," I muttered, feeling my cheeks flushed. "Every fucking time…"

…The sudden attack and the memories I'd stolen from that disgusting devil left me deeply uneasy. I couldn't shake the concern gnawing at the edge of my thoughts—the others back at Hellsing Manor might also be in danger.

My tense thoughts were swiftly distracted, though, as Narcissa stepped forward, gently wrapping her arms around my waist. Her soft, alluring body pressed close to mine, grounding me instantly. Her blue eyes sparkled with excitement, her cheeks still flushed attractively from the fight. Before I could voice my worries, Narcissa leaned in and kissed me passionately, her warm lips molding perfectly to mine.

I let out a soft sigh of surprise and pleasure as she finally broke away, smirking up at me with a mischievous twinkle. "I must admit, Mistress, that was quite an exhilarating way to end a date," she murmured breathlessly, tracing her finger lightly across my lower lip.

My heart fluttered, my worries momentarily forgotten. Smiling hungrily back at her, I eagerly welcomed her when she leaned in again, capturing my lips in another fiery kiss. This time, her tongue boldly pushed into my mouth, tangling sensually with mine. A hot jolt of desire immediately surged down my spine, reigniting the heat still simmering between my thighs from drinking the devil's blood earlier.

Instinctively, my hips rocked forward, grinding shamelessly against her as our bodies pressed even closer. Narcissa's soft, pleased moan vibrated against my lips, making my pulse quicken and my body ache deliciously.

Until, suddenly—

"Um, sorry to interrupt…" a deep voice coughed awkwardly behind us.

My heart leaped in surprise, and adrenaline shot through my veins as I spun around sharply, my revolver instantly drawn and pointed at the intruder.

My tense muscles immediately relaxed as I recognized our visitors. Standing calmly amidst the boutique's wreckage was Sairaorg Bael, his Queen Kuisha at his side. The muscular devil was grinning broadly, his hands raised slightly in a gesture of harmlessness.

He glanced curiously around the destroyed lingerie store, settling on the still imperiused chimeras under our control.

"Quite the battle you had here, Valerie," Sairaorg chuckled appreciatively, lowering his hands casually. "I have to say, I'm genuinely disappointed we missed it."

I sighed, lowering my revolver and offering a small smile in return. "Sairaorg," I greeted him with a polite nod. "It's been a while."

Narcissa looked at the newcomers cautiously, subtly straightening her clothes. Her face was still slightly flushed from our interrupted kiss, but she managed to maintain her composed expression, smoothly taking her place at my side again.

"Mistress, care to introduce us?" Narcissa asked quietly, glancing between me and the devils curiously.

"Of course," I replied easily, slipping an arm comfortably around her waist. "Narcissa, this is Sairaorg Bael, Heir of the Bael Clan, and his Queen, Kuisha Abaddon."

Narcissa's expression shifted to one of amused realization, her lips quirking slightly. "Ah, the devil who's been attempting to contract Mistress recently?" she asked lightly, arching an elegant brow.

Sairaorg's shoulders slumped dramatically, adopting a mock-hurt pout. "Indeed. But someone's been stubbornly avoiding my messages," he complained playfully, shooting a teasing glare in my direction. "What gives, Valerie? Were you deliberately ignoring me?"

I shrugged nonchalantly, holding back a smirk. "I've been busy," I said simply, deliberately leaving out exactly how I'd been occupying my time—namely, plenty of sex with Narcissa.

As a fellow woman, Kuisha smiled softly beside Sairaorg, her eyes sparkling knowingly. Clearly, she had a pretty good idea of exactly what my "busy" had meant.

Recovering quickly from his pout, Sairaorg stepped forward, his expression growing a bit more serious. "Well, I'll forgive you just this once," he teased. "Because I do have some potentially interesting news."

Curiosity piqued, I tilted my head, giving him my full attention. "Interesting news? Go on."

He smiled, clearly pleased to have captured my interest. "I recently spoke to my cousin Rias. During our chat, your name may have come up. Surprisingly, one of her peerage members actually recognized it…"

I blinked, startled and a little confused. "Really? Who—?"

My question was abruptly interrupted by the loud buzzing from my jacket pocket. Frowning, I pulled out my phone and stared at the screen, my heart instantly plummeting into my stomach. Dozens of urgent messages filled the screen—each one flashing with the same, alarming emergency notification.

Hellsing Manor is under attack by an undead army with modern weapons! Return immediately!

An army of zombies with guns!? Panic surged through me. I glanced sharply at Narcissa "We need to go. Right now."

"Wait! We'll come with you and help!" Sairarog offered and his queen nodded as well.

I was surprised by his offer, especially since we weren't exactly close. Maybe he'd want something from me afterwards, but that could be discussed later because the people I cared about were in danger. I wasn't that worried about Seras or Alucard, but Rose and Lady Integra were still squishy.

I nodded at Sairaorg as Narcissa told us all to grab onto her and she'd apparate us close to the manor.

– Alucard –

Alucard's crimson eyes glinted in amusement behind his yellow tinted glasses as he sized up the arrogant young vampire before him.

Nearby, safely tucked away in a side chamber, he had left his beautiful Bellatrix. She'd wanted to stay and watch—or even join—but Alucard didn't want unnecessary distractions during what promised to be an amusing diversion. Besides, it was best to protect what was his.

Across from Alucard, the vampire adjusted his pristine white suit, giving a smug and theatrical bow that reeked of arrogant self-importance. "Allow me to introduce myself," the fledgling vampire proclaimed proudly, straightening with exaggerated grace. "My name is Luke Valentine, and I've come to end your legend, Alucard. Tonight, the No-Life King dies by my hand."

Alucard stared at him silently for a heartbeat, then his rich laughter echoed in the basement.

The sheer arrogance and ignorance of youth—it was deliciously entertaining. This foolish fledgling had not only dared to attack his master's manor, but also had the audacity to interrupt his gaming match earlier, and also he had cock-blocked him and Bellatrix! That could not go unpunished!

"Oh, Luke Valentine, is it?" Alucard drawled leisurely, his voice dripping with condescension. A wide, sinister smile slowly split across his face, revealing gleaming white fangs. "You certainly have guts, I'll give you that. To strut in here, interrupt my match, and then promise to kill me... It's truly adorable."

Luke's arrogant smirk faltered briefly. "...Laugh all you like, Alucard. Soon, I'll wipe that smug grin off your face along with your pathetic legend," he sneered, attempting bravado. "I am no ordinary vampire. I represent a new, superior breed!"

Alucard tilted his head curiously. "A superior breed, you say? Fascinating. Please, do entertain me with this so-called superiority. It's been centuries since someone was brave—or perhaps foolish—enough to claim they were my better."

In truth, Alucard could have ended Luke in an instant—torn him apart, devoured him whole, or drained him dry before the fledgling could even blink—but what was the fun in that? No, Alucard intended to savor this, prolonging it until the arrogant young vampire truly understood the depths of the grave error he had made.

Had Alucard sensed that his master Integra was genuinely threatened, he would have dealt with Luke immediately and ruthlessly.

But Integra was safe above—no doubt protected by Seras—and besides, Alucard had just felt his daughter Valerie's presence returning to the manor, accompanied by two surprisingly strong devils. Their arrival meant that whatever trouble remained upstairs would soon be resolved, freeing Alucard to indulge his darker sense of play without reservation.

With a casual flourish, Alucard adjusted his wide-brimmed hat and raised one white-gloved hand, beckoning Luke Valentine closer with a crooked finger and a sadistic grin. "Come then, boy," Alucard purred ominously, shadows swirling eagerly around him. "Let's see if you can actually back up your bold claims. Give me your best shot."
