In the latter part of the night, Shu Wan slept uneasily, her dreams filled with an overwhelming red, the pained screams of a hundred thousand soldiers entwining around her.
Fu Siyu had been in a meeting until late and didn't return until after midnight.
He habitually walked to the bedside, wanting to check on Shu Wan, but saw her in apparent pain, as if caught in a nightmare.
Fu Siyu immediately leaned over and gently patted Shu Wan's shoulder, "Are you okay? Wake up."
In the chaos, Fu Siyu's voice seemed as if it came from another world, bringing a glimmer of clarity to Shu Wan who was nearly suffocating.
She forcibly pulled herself out of the blood-soaked dream and slowly opened her eyes to meet Fu Siyu's concerned gaze.
"Did you have a nightmare?"
Fu Siyu helped Shu Wan sit up and poured her a glass of water, patting her back soothingly.
"Mhm, dreamed about some unpleasant things."
