Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Sylvia swallowed a bit but did not move; she watched him stop before her, his hand reaching out, and Sylvia cowered.

Yet his hand on her cheek was gentle, and his hand went under her jaw.

"My beauty."

"Yes, My King?"

"Your passion."

She looked at him, and his eyes had fury but something else; it seemed as if she had ignited unruly passion.

"MY KING!"

He let go of her face. As there was a guard on the door, they only did this when it was an urgent matter that couldn't wait.

"Speak?" He replied.

"It's urgent, an intruder that we want to interrogate."

"Our fun has been cut short." Said Vernon, "But we will carry this on."

Sylvia breathed when he left the room, and she had a plan. How long would he be gone for, and would his temper still be the same?

Sylvia went to bed, and the following morning, he was still not there. Which surprised her as that meant something was wrong.

Or not.........…

She went and had some breakfast, the day went by, It was a lovely sunny day.

"The King is going to war, and she is basking in the sun." She heard one of the maids say.

"Maria."

"Yes, My Queen."

"Are the rumors true?"

"Which ones, My Queen?"

"The war."

Maria nodded, "Yes, My Lady."

Sylvia got up in joy and twirled around, "This day has just gotten much better."

"People will see My Lady."

"So?"

"Nothing, My Queen, enjoy." Said Maria,

Sylvia did that; she picked some flowers and basked in the sun. When dinner time came, she had to have it alone as Vernon couldn't make it.

It was time to retire. She entered his chambers, swirling, and jumped to find him there, sharpening his sword.

She had thought that he would come in later as he had not been able to make it to dinner. Sylvia had hoped that he would return when she was asleep.

"My King, I didn't expect you to be here."

"I see you had a lovely day, My Queen."

"No, not really." Her voice sounded faint in her head.

"I'm told by the servants that the Queen is in a very jubilant mood following the news that her husband in going to war, to save his people."

"And I'm thankful that you are putting your life on the line for your people."

"You do know you fall under those people, Sylvia?"

"I do, My King."

"Go to your chambers."

Sylvia was surprised. "Really?"

"You want to spend the night with me?"

Sylvia blushed, "No, I thought that we had to make an impression, and with you leaving tomorrow, wouldn't it tarnish things?"

There was a knock on the door. "Come in."

Celia walked in,

"You called for me, My King."

Sylvia turned to her, she looked very pretty,

"I didn't know your highness was here. Is this a wrong time?"

"No, Sylvia was about to leave, weren't you?"

She nodded, "Of course, excuse me then, My King."

"Have a lovely evening, your highness," Celia replied to her with a hint of something that she was not in the mood for.

"Likewise."

Sylvia went to her chambers,

"The King was not mad, My Lady?"

"No, he has Celia."

She wondered why it was making her a bit upset that he had Celia, and she shook her head. Whatever time for her to enjoy newfound freedom.

The following morning at the break of dawn, she waited for Vernon to walk out. To act as if she had spent the night, to give off fake unity.

Vernon stepped out, and Sylvia could not lie; he looked amazing in his armour.

"Morning, My King."

Celia stepped out too, and he pulled her in his arms, kissed her hard, right in front of her. Sylvia rolled her eyes and turned away.

Just a few more minutes and she would be free from all of this.

"Morning, My Queen."

Now he could greet back, after that little display.

"Morning, your highness."

"Morning, Celia."

Sylvia watched as Celia turned to Vernon again, "I will miss you dearly, My King."

"I will see you when I come back."

She scoffed. (If) she thought,

Vernon turned to her and pulled her close to him. They walked out with her in his arms, how sweet most people thought.

Vernon turned to her and kissed her passionately, one last hug, she played the tearful bride.

"I will miss you, My King."

"Shut up, Sylvia, you think I can't hear how your heart is beating with joy. I will make sure to make it back as quickly as possible."

She just smiled, not wanting to lie.

He mounted his horse, people cheered as they left.

Finally, they were out of sight, and she returned to her chambers. Now it was time for her to have some fun.
