Hu Li knowing the the ownership of the mountain area is given to her. She have the ability to go anywhere she wants. Somedays she helps animals who are in trouble. Somedays, she buried some who are left to die in the open. Other times she assist the birth of new lives which is her joy.
There is one day, she return to the snowy land. Her old friends are still there but most of the rats are dead and buried next to Dong Dong. Even the human Princess is buried next to them. Dong Mei and Yang Yang have upgraded the cave house. It have more space and beds, Even the shelves are extended upwards to accumulate more books. While Dong Wan have the kitchen extended with his many ways of cooking style. He show off to Hu Li and gets a thumb up for the tasty food. Hu Li told them of the mountain area that she will be taking care off. She plans to create a portal between the mountains to snowy lands. They are all delighted to hear this. As all of them consider snowy land as their home. However if the mistress is to in-charge of another place, it is better for them to have a short cut to reach for both sides within a short time thus after the discussion, Hu Li bring them to her new territory. The spiritual dogs who haven't seen green grass for a long time jump and run around. They morph back into their dogs form and bark throughout the forest. While Yang Yang try to keep up with them. She blah behind as if to remind them that there is a spiritual goat chasing after them. Hu Li walk up the mountain with a smile on her face. In her hands, she holds a cattail grass from the snowy land.
Thirty days later, Hong Bang comes up to the mountain to inform Hu Li that his father had finally pass away. Hu Li follow him down the mountain to their home where the funeral is still in place. She did not know much what to do in the funeral and people wonder who she is. Hong Bang announce that she is a relative that is at the far branch of the family tree. He created a complicated family tree to bluff the relatives who are at present.
"Thus that's why we haven't see her around."
Each of them look at this beautiful young woman. Her long glossy black hair sparkles with light reflection. Her light and think eyebrows that compliment her almond shaped eyes. Long eye lashes that sweep with every blink she makes. Her small cherry shape lips makes her oval shape face looks slim and pale. While her pale white long neck shows sign that she is born with richness. Poor relatives like them would envy.
"My name is Bai Hu Li. Since you are all my close relative of my uncle. I will of course help all of you in however help you all need."
The funeral is completed after weeks and she stay with the Hong family. Ever since she move in, the Hong family and the extend family soon prosper. The one who have businesses managed to earn more than what they have. However when they break off from the Hong family, They find that their wealth are all drain away and there is no way to reciprocate back the loss. The one who study hard always gets into the top 10 on the scholar list. Thus the choice of working for the government is given to them.
Years goes by and Hu Li move the temple into the main house of the Hong. They have purchased a huge land. A huge house is built on it. Generations of Hong family lived in there. The main hall, there is a painting of a white fox. Hu Li asked one of the descents who is good in drawing to have a Chinese fox painting to be drawn on a full scale and a place when people walk in they all have to look at it and it is a place to sit for family discussions.
Hu Li watch them die and new babies born in the family. She cannot do anything else but to bless them. She make sure that they all have the basic needs in life. Throughout the years, the family members notice that Hu Li did not age and she remain the same. Finally one of the descendants in a clear moon night ask her if she is a fairy. She tell him of her story and confirm his thoughts. Thus she remain their guardian for many years. Her son Bai Lu who comes to stay with them every few years. He age slowly but his youthful spirt is never fading. Huan Xi the mouse who is his only companion follows him wherever he goes. She quietly stay by his side with her cheerful appearances of a child. However she loves to nag like an old woman. The children who meet her cannot understand why her mentality of thinking is like a grandmother. As those children grows up they realised that Huan Xi is alike to their fairy who will never grow old. The Hong family members grow up along side with the spiritual guardians surrounding them. They swear to keep the secret of the special family members that live with them. As times goes by, the change of environment and laws the special ones have to create multiple identities to live in where they are. They Hong family avoid talking about them as much as possible to outsiders. Soon the mountain area only live with he descendants of the Hong family and only they know the secret of the heavenly beings that stay with them.
Soon a strange rumours that a war is coming into their territory. The Lord of this land is setting up his army to protect his jurisdiction. Many male members of the Hong family are pick out to join the army. Hu Li cast her spell to protect them from danger that might cost them of their lives. Other than that they might suffer from injures. The Hong women watch their men walk off in their army uniform. They cry and pray. Hu Li watch her son walk among those men and she knows that he will be fine. There is nothing much to be afraid of for him. He is now older in appearance. His long hair is bun up with a blue cloth tie around his forehead. He turn and smile at his mother. He wave and then touch his beard. His brown skin glows under the sunlight. She nod her head and wave her hand. The wind blows as she watch him walking off with one of the Hong member. This time she did not cry. This time she stands alone and she knows that she will see him returning from the war.
The war starts a year later. The villagers talk about it. Hu Li learn from Fei that Hei had join in the army. He already met up with Bai Lu. Huan Xi sits alone in the kitchen watching the fire roasting the pot of soup. She is pretending not to care too much. While Dong Mei and Dong Wan is busy chopping wood outside. They look at Hu Li who is still siting on the swing by the colourful flower tree. Huan Xi after putting the dishes on the table walk to Hu Li. She touch the knee of Hu Li and tell her that the food is on the table. Hu Li look down and smile. She reach down and lift up Huan Xi. Standing up she point to the sun is setting.
"I'm hearing the song of the sun."
"What song did it sing?"
"A sad song, today. He saw many men die in a place. There is nothing he can do to stop them."
"Oh... is it the war that had happen?"
"Yes..."
"Our family members..."
"They are fine. My spell is still intact. There is nothing serious that happen."
"What about young master?"
"He is well."
"His transformation..."
"It won't happen now. Hei is with him. So he won't get into any trouble."
"It will be troublesome if he suddenly have to transform there..."
"No not now. Come let's go. You all have to eat."
That following year, Hu Li find a pregnant fox. She is having a hard time forging for food. Hu Li is reminded of herself when she see the red fox. She pick up the fox and bring it to their home. Everyone help to take care of the little fox. After giving birth to six pups, she pass away. Hu Li keep the little ones and care for them. Suprisingly they are all smart pups who understands her command. They follow her around and learn what is to be a fox. There is a day when Hu Li transform into her white fox form. They are awe and begin to think that she might be their mother. They want to be like her that is able to walk to two legs one day. One fine day while Hu Li is outside reading her book and the pups are laying around her, Di Jun appear.
"I am nearby this place so i decided to drop by to see you... who are these kids? They cannot be yours..."
"No of course they are not mine but they are also mine."
He look carefully at the faces of the red foxes. He smile and stand up. He walks and sit beside her.
"Looks like, you found your own clan of foxes. One or two of them might able to be spiritual foxes."
She put down her book and look at him. Then she look at the pups. They stand up and wag their tails. In a few months time they all grow up and have their own personalities. The ones who keep quiet and stay with her eventually learn to meditate to their own space and morph with a human shape. Many years down the road, Hu Li soon have her own fox clan. She accepted all foxes whether they can morph or not. As long as they are not evil. Hu Li's mountain have become a home for them all and the land that surrounds it. A special cave that is hidden away from human's eyes are only for them to live in. In many years to come, a new clan of spiritual foxes will be walking in the land and they only obey the command from Bai Hu Li.
