Chapter 324 - Chapter 324: Trading the Oddish Egg

Chapter 324: Trading the Oddish Egg

Hikaru tried to refuse, but Vileplume insisted—

Staring straight at him, it placed the egg right into his hands.

Left with no choice, he explained again that he had no plans to raise any more Grass-type Pokémon.

But Vileplume was stubborn.

The egg stayed firmly in his hands.

He sighed, giving in.

"All right, all right. I'll help take care of it until it hatches. But seriously—I've got enough Grass-types already. I'll find it a good trainer."

An egg laid by two Master-tier Pokémon, with Heaven King-level aptitude,

even if it was an Oddish—

On the open market, that would easily fetch seven figures.

"Rrrgh…"

Vileplume sighed and reluctantly agreed.

It finally understood—

Staying here in Crescent Forest, the child's potential would never surpass its own.

Maybe it was better… to let the kid go explore the outside world.

Its only regret—

Was that the trainer wouldn't be this human.

Taking the egg carefully into his arms, Hikaru reminded them,

"Now don't go chasing other Pokémon away again, okay?"

Both Vileplume and Bellossom nodded fervently.

With that settled, Hikaru pulled out his phone and logged into Alliance Mission PaiPai.

He tapped [Complete Mission].

Soon, an official inspector from the League would come to verify the results—

Once approved, his points would be credited.

Then Hikaru turned to Sceptile, who was trying hard to avoid eye contact.

Having lost to Charizard once… twice… three times…

At this point, his fighting spirit was all but gone.

Hikaru clapped his hands.

"Okay, okay. You still want a place to stay, right? Then I'll decide—

Vileplume, can you make some room for Sceptile to live here?"

Vileplume and Bellossom exchanged glances—

And after a moment's pause, they nodded.

But Sceptile looked conflicted.

His lips parted slightly as if to speak…

But in the end, he said nothing.

A few agile leaps—and he disappeared into the trees.

Watching him vanish, Hikaru sighed.

He really was fated to meet that Sceptile.

And something told him—

This wouldn't be their last encounter.

He recalled Gardevoir, then gently held the egg in his arms.

Turning to Charizard, he said,

"Let's go. I think those two have probably finished talking."

Charizard extended a claw to lift Hikaru onto its back.

After saying goodbye once more to Vileplume and Bellossom—

They soared into the sky.

Crescent Forest Outskirts

Latias hovered restlessly, staring into the sky where Hikaru had vanished.

Latios, nearby, let out a long sigh.

And Emma Damnson…

stood off to the side, a total third wheel.

But when a fiery orange streak reappeared on the horizon,

Latias perked up and darted forward—

Zooming to Hikaru's side.

Seeing him cradling another egg,

she tilted her head curiously.

"Is that a new Pokémon you caught, Hikaru?"

He shook his head and sighed.

"Nope. The parents basically forced it on me. It's a nice Oddish, though—I'll try to find it a good trainer."

He still wasn't sure who might want a Grass-type Oddish.

So, as they flew back, he pulled out his phone and posted to his feed:

[Master-tier Vileplume + Bellossom egg. Heaven King aptitude. DM if interested.]

That was about the best he could do for now.

If no one replied,

he'd list it on the school forums.

There were always students interested in niche Pokémon like Oddish.

"Oh…"

Latias nodded, then lost interest.

Hikaru asked,

"So, did you two talk it out?"

Latias tilted her head. "Yeah."

But in truth—

The "conversation" had been nothing but silence.

Latios had asked questions.

Latias just replied, "Mm." "Okay." "Sure."

Total deadpan.

Seeing her expression, Hikaru already knew.

"Come here."

She obediently leaned in,

letting him rest a hand on her head.

He spoke softly.

"He's still your brother. Try to get along. Don't worry—

I'll show him that staying with me… wasn't a mistake."

He didn't want to cause a rift between siblings.

Back in the underwater temple, they'd been inseparable.

Latias pursed her lips.

"Mm…" (Staying with Hikaru is great… I'm not mad at him. He just nags too much.)

Hikaru chuckled.

"Sounds like someone's hitting their rebellious phase."

Honestly, Latios was a bit overbearing.

Latias opened her mouth to ask what "rebellious phase" meant—

But just then, Latios and Emma floated over.

The siblings exchanged a few more words.

And just like that—

They made up.

Hikaru recalled Charizard and hopped onto Latias.

"To the Youth League, then, Emma, Latios. See you there."

Now that Emma had found Latios,

she wouldn't need to pester him for info anymore.

That worked out nicely.

As for whether she could actually bond with Latios—

Well, that was up to her own charm.

Now that he thought about it…

Latias had basically given herself to him.

Or, well—maybe he was the one who'd latched onto her?

Emma nodded.

"Alright."

As they watched Hikaru and Latias vanish into the sky—

Latios blinked.

Latias's presence…

had suddenly disappeared.

No aura. No signal. No psychic trace.

What kind of skill was that?

Weird…

Still—

Latios slowly smiled.

Whatever it was—

It meant she'd be much safer now.

---

Back home, Hikaru had barely sat down when his phone buzzed.

[GreenBubble]

Kei Hama: Hikaru, that egg you posted about—is it legitimate? I've been researching Bellossom's competitive potential lately. Perfect timing.

[Hikaru]: It's genuine. The parents are the Vileplume and Bellossom from Crescent Forest.

Kei Hama: I'll take it. Name your terms.

[Hikaru]: No terms. Just need to handle the transfer legally. The egg's freshly laid—school registry will have to mediate.

Kei Hama: Understood. I'll coordinate with the breeding department. They'll contact you for custodial paperwork.

[Hikaru]: Smooth enough. Come by the dorm tomorrow?

Kei Hama: …You're handing over a Heaven King-tier egg without hesitation? Most trainers would auction this.

[Hikaru]: You're not "most trainers." And Bellossom suits your sun-team strategy better than rotting in my storage.

Kei Hama: …

Kei Hama: [Voice Message]

A staticky sigh crackled through the speaker. "I'll never understand your altruism. But—thank you. This changes everything for my gym challenge."

[Hikaru]: Don't mention it. Just water my Bulbasaur when I'm on missions.

Kei Hama: [Sent a screenshot of League rankings—Kei's name hovering at #87]

Kei Hama: After this? Top 50. Mark my words.
