Eve, softly inquired someone behind the door, but the person remained silent, not uttering a word, just standing quietly in front of the door.
...Eve didn't know who the person behind the door was, why they had come to her house, or what they wanted by standing in front of her room.
But, she didn't really care about these things.
What Eve cared more about was that someone had finally come to her.
Even if separated by a door, Eve still felt, in her heart, the discomfort, perhaps called loneliness, was somewhat alleviated.
"Please..."
So, no matter who the other person was, whether they were there to harm her or not, Eve still pleaded:
"Can you... stay here and listen to me talk? Just for a little while, you don't even need to respond, just listen to me talk to myself... that's all."
...The other person remained quietly silent, not making a sound.
But, there were also no sounds of leaving footsteps.
The other person's response was quite clear.
