The Dean at the lectern was stunned. He had expected Qin Fan to dodge his gaze and stutter out a trembling apology. He never could have imagined that the once-timid outcast of the Qin family would actually dare to stand up to him. Even the children of powerful and wealthy families wouldn't dare be so brazen in a Qi Middle School classroom.
This Qin family outcast… Where did he get the gall? What gives him the right?
"Do you have any idea who you're talking to, you damn bastard!"
His face sinking to its darkest point, the Dean held back his rage and growled. He then slammed his hand onto the lectern, producing a thunderous BANG!
"As a student, I will say this to you one more time: please respect your profession. This isn't some gangster den for settling scores, so don't talk like a street thug. If you have questions, ask them quickly. I still have to contemplate my life," Qin Fan said, a subtle, unreadable curl on his lips.
If this were his past self, he would surely be cowering and shivering in a situation like this. But he was no longer that Qin Fan. He was the Heavenly Venerate, the Shura Venerable, who was just one Heavenly Thunder Tribulation away from shattering the Xu Kong and joining the ranks of the Immortal Class.
Even now, reborn with all his cultivation lost, how could the dignity and pride of a Heavenly Venerate be infringed upon by a mere mortal? If this were the Cangqiong Continent, what would happen to a Dean like this? The Shura Venerable would slay as many as appeared.
To be unanimously dubbed the Shura Venerable on the Cangqiong Continent, a land teeming with powerhouses, one could only imagine how frenzied he must have been there.
"Good, good, good!" the Dean seethed, his finger trembling as he pointed at Qin Fan, a ball of rage about to explode in his chest. "I'm asking you, were you just sleeping?"
"Yes!" Qin Fan responded with a nod and a smile.
"And were you shouting?"
"Yes!" Qin Fan continued to answer with a nonchalant smile.
"This is a school! This is a classroom! Not your personal bedroom!" the Dean thundered, jabbing a finger at the lectern while glaring at Qin Fan.
Having survived countless life-and-death situations on the Cangqiong Continent, Qin Fan watched the Dean as if he were a clown. Still wearing an easy-going expression, he shook his head and chuckled. "Now, that's where you're wrong. Our teacher told us that students who don't want to study should rest their heads on their desks so they don't disturb others. To maintain a good learning environment for my classmates, wasn't I doing the right thing? What do you think, my esteemed Dean?"
It wasn't just the Dean; every student in the class picked up on the blatant sarcasm in Qin Fan's words.
Is this really the same outcast of the Qin family who they could toy with, beat, and trample without him daring to make a sound? Did a dream just drive him mad?
Instantly, sneers appeared on the students' faces as they shook their heads.
Looks like the Qin family outcast's days at Qi Middle School are numbered! What a pity… Soon, they'd lose their punching bag.
"But what about you screaming wildly in class? Is that your idea of creating a 'good learning environment'? Such a glib tongue, and completely unrepentant! Disgraceful, utterly disgraceful! Having a student like you is a stain on Qi Middle School! A stain!" the Dean ranted, furiously pounding the desk.
"Uh-huh. And then?" Qin Fan remained as immovable as a mountain.
"And then? Hmph. As the Dean, I am suspending you for seven days of home education! Your name will be posted on the school bulletin board! Furthermore, you will await the School Committee's deliberation for additional punishment!" The Dean dished out what would have been an exceedingly harsh punishment for any ordinary student.
But was Qin Fan an ordinary student?
In his past life, yes. But in this one? A week of suspension, or even expulsion—so what? Does the Shura Venerable, returned to the mortal world, really need academic credentials to make his way? How absurd!
"Alright, then. Let the home education start now. I'm off. Goodbye!" Qin Fan offered a faint smile and waved at the fuming Dean.
He left his seat and strode confidently out of the room, passing through a sea of more than thirty pairs of disbelieving eyes.
The Dean himself never would have expected such an outcome.
The outcast of the Qin family doesn't care? How can he not care?
But regardless, the die was cast. Qin Fan had accepted his move with open arms. The Dean had miscalculated. It was like gathering all your strength for a thunderous punch, only to hit a ball of cotton. How could that possibly feel good? It couldn't.
With nowhere to vent his anger, the Dean's gaze turned gloomy as he watched Qin Fan pass by. He gave a cold snort and muttered under his breath, "Uncouth brat."
WHOOSH—
Even though he had tried to keep his voice down, who was Qin Fan? Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse, and a wrecked ship still has a few good nails. How could he not hear the remark meant only for the Dean's own satisfaction?
He stopped dead in his tracks. The once-calm and relaxed expression on his face vanished in an instant.
He whirled around, his voice booming with fury. "What did you say? Say it again."
Caught off guard, the Dean met Qin Fan's chillingly cold gaze. He suddenly felt as if he'd been plunged into an icy abyss.
That kind of gaze… how could it possibly appear on a student? And on that formerly weak and pathetic outcast of the Qin family, no less? An illusion… It must be an illusion!
The Dean repeated this to himself. Then he remembered that he was in a classroom full of students. How could he, the esteemed Dean of Qi Middle School, be intimidated by Qin Fan?
He sneered, "I said, you're an uncouth brat!"
Was there anything wrong with that statement? If it had been the Qin Fan of his past life, there would have been no problem at all. He had been called far worse, and in the end, words were just words, another mark on his long record of humiliation. What could an outcast of the Qin family possibly do?
But now? Could the reborn Shura Venerable allow anyone to brand him with such an insult? Besides, calling him uncouth was an indirect slight against his parents. And his parents… they were Qin Fan's ultimate reverse scale.
This bald-headed ass is courting death!
"You've got a foul mouth!"
Anger flooded Qin Fan's otherwise plain face as he let out a cold shout. Standing just below the podium, he suddenly leaped into the air.
Swinging his arm back high, he brought his palm down in a furious slap across the Dean's face.
It all happened in the blink of an eye.
SLAP!
A resounding crack echoed through the room as the Dean was sent flying backward, straight out the classroom door. A single leaping slap had sent the grown man flying.
The entire classroom erupted into a shocked uproar, every face a mask of utter disbelief.
He's lost his mind! The Qin family outcast has gone completely insane!
That was the unanimous consensus. They were so shocked, in fact, that they completely overlooked how Qin Fan had suddenly gained enough strength to send an adult man flying with a single slap.
A deathly silence spread through the classroom.
