After touring the house, the three of them returned to the living room.
Kiyono Lin lost interest in video games and sat by the hearth to read a book.
Dubian Che plugged in "Contra" and started playing levels with Jiutiao Meijie.
"We'll take the water route."

After finishing "Contra," they played "Ninja Turtle 2" and "Hot Blooded Fighting." Jiutiao Meijie got sleepy and lay down to sleep.

About two hours later, at twilight, Mrs. Dubian finally returned.
Misezawa Village was far from the nearest town.
"Little Che, come help Mom peel peas!"
"Sure!"
"I'll help too," Kiyono Lin said as she started to get up.
"No, no, Lin, you sit."
"Come over here, Che," Mrs. Dubian called out as she headed for the kitchen.
After a while, seeing no sign of Dubian Che, Mrs. Dubian called out again.
"Little Che—?"
"I'm coming, coming!"
