The latter returned his gaze calmly.

Slaier's voice trembled softly.
As a god infamous for lies and tricks, ever haughty and untamed, he deemed none of the deities of the Celestial Kingdom worthy of respect. The multitudes of Gods rebuked him as cunning as a field snake—he took no shame in that, but rather prided himself on it, taking delight in fooling the divine.
But Slaier knew deep down why he could fool the other divine beings—it was because they all possessed reason and could communicate.
