This is a school of lanternfish, carrying "little lanterns" on their heads, slowly swimming along the slope of the trench.
Their scales emanate a faint blue light under the glow, like a group of ghosts wandering in the night sky.
And beneath them in the sediment, many scallop shells open and close intermittently, filtering tiny plankton with the flow of the water.
Occasionally, you can see a few giant clams, their shells covered with the marks of time, like elderly people who have weathered life's storms.
This is a serene ocean, not yet affected by the Abyssal Contamination, filled everywhere with the breath of life.
However, the tranquility of this ocean is being disrupted.
Somewhere beneath the corals on the seabed, a "black curtain wall" has appeared from God knows when.
