The nurse walked down the dimly lit corridor, each step accompanied by the soft clatter of her heels, echoing harshly in the empty, silent hall.
Her gaze fell upon the solitary door at the end of the corridor, the entrance to the ward, and she swallowed involuntarily.
As soon as she completed the check on this last ward, her shift would finally be over, and she could go home.
No matter how many times she came here, she could never get used to the atmosphere.
She quietly raised a hand, gently touching under her chest where a Magic Guidance Chip embedded with a Shield spell lay. Only after reassuring herself with the cool metallic touch did her racing heart begin to calm.
"Phew..."
Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward to the ward's entrance.
