Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Glow in Her Eyes

Chapter 12: Glow in Her Eyes

We can see two young people inside the storage room, looking at each other.

A girl with black and pink hair, and a boy with brown hair.

"Create a miracle?" Bianca was confused; she didn't understand the words the boy in front of her had said.

"Yup… something like that…" Lux replied in a childish tone as he began walking around the storage room, glancing at the objects kept there.

"…You can ask me anything you want," he added, lightly touching the boxes around him.

Bianca hesitated, even though her curiosity was eating her alive on the inside. Her mind tried to convince her it wasn't a good idea — her day had been hard ever since she got out of bed.

"When we met, you said you were a magician… Does that mean magic is real?" Bianca asked, trying to confirm what the young man in front of her had said.

"Yes, that's what I said," Lux answered quickly. "Do you have bad memory or something?" he asked with innocent confusion while holding an old box.

"Don't make fun of me!" Bianca exclaimed, scolding Lux's attitude. "It's important for me… to know if it's real," she whispered, her sadness and embarrassment clearly visible.

Lux watched her for a second — her way of speaking, her movements. He put the box back in place.

"I see your heart still has doubts, right?" Lux spoke softly, slipping his hand into his uniform pocket.

"Well, what can we do?" he said while holding a wand, a wide grin forming on his face.

Lux pointed the wand toward the dusty boxes.

"Show your light," he said. A green glow began to shine from the tip of the wand he held, and the dust in the storage room started to rise, slowly transforming into tiny glowing particles that floated, illuminating every corner of the room.

The lights danced aimlessly through the air. Bianca couldn't breathe; astonishment and wonder overwhelmed her.

"This is…" Bianca murmured, her voice trembling as she stepped forward.

A small glow appeared in the eyes of the black-and-pink-haired girl.

She was witnessing a real spell — not just a fantasy from storybooks.

Her heart began to beat uncontrollably; even if it hurt, those beats felt strangely familiar.

A memory crossed Bianca's mind.

A cozy room, and a woman with a warm, gentle smile sitting beside her bed.

"Mom, is the magic in books real?" a young Bianca asked her mother.

"Of course it is, Bianca. Magic from stories can be real… as long as you wish for it strongly enough."

Little Bianca's heart pounded with excitement; the thrill of believing in a magical world filled her with joy.

The young Bianca had believed those words.

When did she stop thinking that way?

The memory faded quickly. Bianca lifted her left hand — the one wearing the ring her mother had given her. A glowing particle rested on her palm. A tear slid down her cheek, and she quickly wiped it away.

"It's incredible! Magic is real!" Bianca exclaimed, fascinated by the glowing particles still floating in the air.

Lux watched her, pleased by her reaction.

"There they are…" Lux's whisper reached Bianca's ears, making her turn toward him with a confused look.

"…Those glowing eyes… That's what I was talking about. That glow in your eyes is what I've been looking for to achieve my miracle." Lux's expression dimmed, his eyes lowering to the wand in his hand.

"Why? What miracle are you talking about?" Bianca asked, noticing his sudden change in mood.

"Do you want to know?" Lux turned to look at her as he asked. Bianca nodded.

"Then I'll tell you… everything. About magicians, about the world, and about me."

What is Lux's secret?
