Chapter 52 - When it rains, it pours

In life there are people who were born to suffer. Like literally, it's their life purpose.

There's a saying, 'when it rains, it pours'. Its funny how we like to use it with our problems forgetting in life, there's are happy times and when they come? They come in abundance and we are just greedy to wish forever in a moment. Am I wrong?

No matter how many times you hear motivational speakers going on and on about things like 'your fate is in your own hands' but, we can't deny the crucial part played by luck in one's life. And Jake? He believes to be having none.

Since he was a child, he always loved to be loved, he was desperately praying for the perfect soulmate romance which was a clear struggle to get in his family.

They never really were a family, just a product of sex between two selfish stupid fools. He was just glad that he was a single child because, leaving a sibling in his parents' care meant death.

He didn't know how far he walked from the salon but, all he realised was that he wasn't on his way home plus, he was dead hungry and tired.

"Beautiful, yeah?" Asked a guy next to him proudly pointing at the ice cream shop making Jake laugh unconsciously. What the heck? Are there still friendly people in the world?

"You wanna grab a bite with me?" Offered Jake out of his goodness. The guy could be homeless and penniless for all he knew. There's no perfect timing for kindness at least he learned that much from Philip.

"I can take two. I'm known for my sweet tooth" Smiled sweetly the stranger making Jake stunned. He was a beautiful stranger.

"In this weather?" Asked Jake concerned. It was a heavy strangely cold night.

"That's why I need somebody who's crazy enough to dote on me, you the one?" Asked the guy acutely.

"I'm a bottom through and through" Announced Jake for the sake of later embarrassment and disappointment.

"You are a man?" Asked the stranger confused, looking Jake up and down for confirmation.

"I thought it was obvious!" Pointed out Jake looking at himself seriously. Wasn't the voice deep enough? Then the hideous outfit should be a dead giveaway!

"No... no, but that's no biggie. I can do topping, I'll just need a dick" Said the stranger thoughtfully.

"You are a woman~..." Muttered Jake not trying to hide his confused realization.

"And a hungry one to boot! I'm Aileen Timothy by the way" Stretched out her hand eagerly towards the amused Jake, "Jacob... Just call me Jake" Accepted Jake the hand before being dragged into the shop.

It was the shop's lazy hours seemingly because, apart from them there were only three customers there. After their order, they went to snug on the corner comfortably.

It was like two best friends hanging out after a long time no see cliches of life.

"So, is this a break up gloom you are having or the just got fired aura I'm sensing?" Asked Aileen, after a few scoops which went with gusto.

"Am I really that readable?" Asked Jake surprised before, he bowed down and decided to unburden himself to a stranger, "I was just feeling sorry to myself. Love, life... you know?"

"Was?" Asked Aileen pointedly.

"I'm not alone now, am I? and what about you?" Asked Jake curiously.

"Just walked out of a marriage today" Replied Aileen casually like she was talking about the weather.

"Divorced?" Questioned Jake feeling for her.

"Like I can even be that basic... I ran away in my wedding gown and shit from the sacred altar" Replied Aileen with a bitter laugh. It was the guilt that was eating her up.

"Why? The groom is an asshole?" Pried the gossip monger, collecting something juicy for tomorrow.

"How I wish that was the case" Mumbled Aileen feeling sadder with each word.

"Then what?" Persisted Jake unbothered

"I'm craving something peculiar and he isn't it" Said Aileen somberly, "I can't be a traditional wife. I'm not one to bow down and keep on nodding my head to the crowd... I wasn't built like that"

"That one is deep" Said Jake feeling uncomfortable.

"Yeah, and hence the ice cream!" Agreed Aileen with a dramatic sigh making Jake laugh aloud at the similarities he was seeing in Aileen as Philip.

"So, how did you deal with the chaos?" Asked Jake taking a scoop of his ice cream.

"I actually didn't_" Said Aileen with a mouth full of ice cream, "I just left the mess to my almost to have been husband and just left. I can't believe I left him with only the 'I'm sorry' bullshit and he doesn't hate me"

"You need a place to stay? I'm lonely and depressed at the moment I could use some company" Offered Jake

"You are not afraid?" Asked Aileen bewildered

"Should I be?" Asked back Jake getting scared for once since their chance encounter.

"Cute and reckless? You are definitely my type!" Practically buzzed Aileen in excitement earning few glances their way.

"Uh... Sweet pooch? you do know that I'm gay, right?" Reminded Jake helpfully.

"Does it matter though? I'm seriously down too bad attracted to you and horny as hell at the moment" Whispered Aileen seriously caressing Jake's lips by her cold spoon leaving Jake with a shiver.

Was he attracted to Aileen? Maybe? It came as a shock too or maybe he was just horny from a way too long abstinence from sex or he could blame the hunger gaze he saw in her eyes. She wanted him like a moth to a flame.

"Aren't we going too fast? I just met you and all" Said Jake embarrassed. He was so awkward and nervous which Aileen found it all endearing.

"I can do dates too. I'm just never one to commit" Explained Aileen with a shrug. At least she was an honest jerk.

"Obviously" Agreed Jake stifling a laugh making Aileen remember her screw up. She realized it quite late that she wasn't a commitment type.

"So, if this should be our first date... how would you like it to proceed?" Asked Aileen meaningfully.

"Some phone call to the one you left behind mostly. He deserves some love" Proposed Jake feeling guilty.

"We did talk th_ Speaking of the devil" Said Aileen as she picked her buzzing phone, "Yes, husband-ed?"

"Thank heavens you are still breathing!" Breathed out the guy on the other side.

"You're worrying too much" Laughed it off Aileen making the situation seem lighter than it was in Jake's head. She was fucking basically cheating with him at the moment.

"Someone has to be. Well, I called because, I'll be away for a few days... last meeting call and all" Said the guy with a sigh.

"Talk about bad days, huh?" Asked Aileen feeling sorry for him.

"Tell me about it. Everything has been taken cared for so, don't be terrified to face your friends and family much longer and don't refute a thing they say"

"What did you do?" Asked Aileen, alarmed.

"I told them I cheated and hence the mess" Replied the guy before the atmosphere went tense. Aileen didn't appreciate the sentiment.

"Why would you say that?!" Demanded with seething anger.

"Trust me, it's better than trapping their precious daughter with a ring" Replied the guy on the phone, "So, where are you now?"

"On a date with this cute guy I just met an hour ago" Replied Aileen all smiles once more all the anger forgotten, looking back at Jake who just had one thought: The bitch is a psycho.

"Such a whore! Let me leave you to it then" Dismissed the guy with a helpless laugh

"Bye bye love!" Replied Aileen before the call was ended.

"He's a literal saint, I swear!" Gushed Jake falling for the guy on the spot.

"That's why I thought I could do it, you know?" Replied Aileen looking outside the shop with a sad smile.

"Love sucks" Muttered Jake getting busy with his ice cream.

"Not so much, So task number one completed what else can we do on our date?" Asked Aileen seriously.

"I need to eat, like a lot of street food and you're paying" Informed Jake with an attitude.

"That one is easy but, first? How about we finish the dessert?" Suggested Aileen with a wink.

"You're so weird" Pointed out Jake but, weirdly charmed.

"That's what keeps them coming though. Part of my charm" Replied Aileen shamelessly making Jake laugh aloud.
