His eyes were on me, but he wasn't speaking.
     “Gerald?” I touched his hand. “You have something to tell me?”
     All he said was “I understand.”
     But I felt the need to speak out. Guilt was building up in me, filling me up like a cup that was ready to overflow with water. His consistent look at me couldn't let me have a moment of peace.
     “Actually… Andrea and Raguel… They tricked me into spending a private time with Amon.” It was hard for me to maintain my flow of words, and I took in breaths. “I didn't realize he would try to seduce me.”
     My hands were rubbing against each other, the sweat forming on my palms acted as lubricant.
     But Gerald's expression did not change. “That's not a big issue on ground.” He shook his head about three times. “You have something that belongs to Amon.”
     Something that belonged to Amon? What if he knew I was pregnant with Amon's child?

     My lover, Amon, had left me for a girl he claimed was his fated mate, and I was torn apart, feeling like there was no life without him.
     In just a month, I met Gerald, the Alpha of another pack, and he turned out to be my mate. But then, I was pregnant with Amon’s child.
     I had decided to keep my pregnancy a secret because of the rule of my pack, and Amon was never aware of it. Gerald marked me without a hint of it, but things turned crazy when Amon showed up in secret, claiming he loved me.
     I was conflicted, but there was more to Gerald that I didn't know. Everyone around me was hinting vague things about him that they weren't certain of.
     Well, whatever it was, I was going to accept it as part of my fate.

The sun was starting to brighten up the day, but then, I noticed Kate wouldn't talk to me. 


 She was still lying sideways on the floor of the sitting room, and her back was touching the table. She was awake, but remained in that position.


 She nodded, and took the blanket off the floor to return it to the room.


 "Good morning." I greeted. "How did the night go?"


 She didn't answer. She had kept the blanket inside the room, and was back to sitting on the floor, her back still resting against the table, her eyes facing the wall.


 "You want to talk about something?" I asked, standing up from the long couch to get to her.


 But she shook her head, not changing her eyes' direction to look at me. I remembered the note in which we slept the previous night, and her actions did not become strange to me. She had carried the grudges of last night into the day, and that was understandable.
