Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : Deal with Class A

As Ren approached the door of Class A, he faintly overheard a conversation through it.

"Mashima-sensei, you said that as long as you have points in this school, you can buy anything, right? I want to know the criteria on which the school evaluates us. How many points do I need?"

This was a soft and elegant female voice.

A deep, firm male voice replied, "One million."

"That…."

Hearing this, Ren quickened his pace and even activated the active effect of [Overlord]. Before the female voice could respond, he rushed to the door of Class A and knocked quickly.

Boom!

The loud noise interrupted what the girl was about to say. Then, Ren shouted from outside the door, "Buy mine! I only want 900,000!"

Class A: ???

Soon, the door of Class A opened. Ren saw a tall man in a suit, whom he assumed was the teacher of Class A.

Majima looked at Ren sternly and said, "Which class are you from? What's the matter? Don't disturb our orientation meeting if you don't have anything to do!"

"Hello, teacher!" Ren raised his hand in greeting. "I'm here to steal your business!"

"What?"

"Didn't someone just try to buy information from you using points? I'm here to take your business. No, those points probably won't go into your pocket, so to be precise, I'm trying to take the school's business."

Ren said this confidently.

"Oh? So you know the criteria for this school's evaluation of classes and individuals?" the soft and elegant female voice asked again.

Without the door obstructing them, Ren finally saw the owner of the voice.

She had bright silver-white straight hair, delicate facial features, a petite and cute figure, and she wore white silk stockings that hugged her calves. Supported by a cane, she appeared delicate, but her slightly raised chin and the corners of her mouth suggested a determined spirit.

Although she looked small and physically fragile, her confidence seemed monumental. Such individuals often refuse to let their "competitors" take advantage of them.

Fortunately, she was not a match for him. In fact, Class D was no match for Class A. If Class A had just a bit more familiarity with Class D, they would not have considered them a threat.

Ren noticed that the girl seemed slightly surprised at the moment. She appeared astonished that someone had obtained the information she sought earlier and was willing to sell it to her. In her eyes, anyone who could acquire this information so early must have been quite powerful.

This capable and proactive individual surely must be ambitious. Logically, an ambitious person would keep such information to themselves, looking to profit from the knowledge gap, instead of sharing it with others, right?

At that moment, Ren responded, "Yes, I have information that I obtained at a 'great cost.' For this information, I am now the poorest person in the entire year. I will continue to look for someone to share the cost with me."

It sounded pitiable, but in reality, everyone's points had just been deposited into their accounts, and they hadn't had time to spend them yet. Thus, even if Ren had only spent 1 point, he was still the poorest.

The petite girl placed her left hand on her chest and nodded slightly, saying, "Nice to meet you. I'm Arisu Sakayanagi from Class A…"

Arisu Sakayanagi did not directly respond to Ren's words but introduced herself first.

Understanding her intent, Ren replied, "Ren Ishikawa, a transfer student studying abroad, from Class D "

He knew the focus of her inquiry was on "Class D."

Upon hearing about his class, Sakayanagi wore a look of realization. She understood immediately. Yes, being in Class D, even the most capable person would likely not be able to lead them to success.

Instead of improving the class evaluation, it would be more sensible to accumulate more points to live comfortably for the next three years or use them for something else.

But this…. this was wrong.

"Will the people in Class D be willing to pool one million points to buy the intelligence?" Sakayanagi asked, filled with doubt.

Ren replied, "Don't worry about that. Just tell me whether you want it or not."

Sakayanagi pressed, "How can you guarantee that your information is accurate?"

Ishikawa stated confidently, "Any information I provide can be verified by the rules set by the teacher. As an elite in Class A, shouldn't you have the ability to 'check' the answers and verify their truth?"

"Only if you provide sufficient information," Sakayanagi responded.

"It will be sufficient. The money must be in place—sufficient and necessary. At worst, if you find my information to be incorrect later, I will compensate you."

"Good."

After coming to an initial agreement, the two sides began to negotiate the price.

Ren Ishikawa asked, "Do you have 900,000 points?"

Sakayanagi answered, "I have just been selected as the representative of Class A. Everyone in Class A is willing to contribute 500,000 points with me."

"That's fine. I'll return to Class B and sell the information for 500,000 points."

Sakayanagi added, "If you can guarantee that your class won't leak the information to Class B, then I'll purchase Class B's share as well, for a total of one million points."

"I know how loose their lips can be in class D, but for the sake of profit, they will likely keep quiet. At least they won't reveal anything in the short term. That should give class A enough time to widen the gap.", he thought.

Ren specifically mentioned in class the possibility that "class ranking" was related to living expenses, intending to silence the students in Class D.

When the ranking is tied to living expenses, the students in Class D will see other classes as rivals and will be less likely to casually disclose this crucial information. This will make the other classes more defensive, and the most ruthless students might even try to mislead others, resulting in point deductions.

Of course, that group will have their own thoughts, and although they won't leak information "casually," it's still possible that they might "accidentally" leak it. But at least they should be able to keep quiet for a few days, right?

"In the short term... then I can only offer 400,000 per class," Ishikawa said.

"What about Class C? The people in Class C don't follow any ethical standards. They might sell the information to Class B, allowing both Class A and Class B to fight each other like wild dogs, while they wait to benefit from the chaos."

"Can you watch your words? What do you mean by 'biting like dogs'?" a bald-headed student couldn't help but interject, offended by the comparison of his class to dogs.

" Mr. Ren , your analogy is indeed a bit exaggerated ~"

Ren quickly said to everyone in Class A with an apologetic look on her face : " I'm sorry, I've only been studying in Japan for less than half a year, and my Japanese is not very good. If you are not satisfied, I can go somewhere else! Besides, this is the additional service for the 400,000 worth of information ~"

Class A was instantly in an uproar .

  " I ..."

  " you ..... "

" Mr. Ren , please stop playing tricks on them. I want your information. Of course, I have to make sure it's worth the price . "

  " What about Class C ? "

" How about taking the same 400,000 and rounding it up to 1 million? "

" Why don't you just say that Class C will get a 50% discount? Okay ~ After all, we are competing with the official for business, deal ! "

" Teacher , please make a notarization. Anyone who violates the agreement must give out twice as much as they take ~"

Soon, Ren received a message on his mobile phone saying " 1 million has been deposited into the account " .

After getting the money , told everyone the information he had confirmed .

It was basically what he had said in Class D , but in a " decontaminated " version .

In addition, some things were slightly extended based on the " ambitions " that the elites of Class A might have .

After Ren finished speaking .

Sakayanagi sorted out his thoughts and concluded , " That is to say , the evaluation of each class will be quantified and expressed as a score. The school will deduct or add points based on the students' daily performance and test scores .

In addition to class scores representing living expenses, ranking is also very important, and the first place will receive a significant reward .

The initial score cannot be determined. It could be 100 points, or it could be 1,000 points, or 10,000 points ... Isn't this information too vague ? The first place reward and specific score are uncertain, I want a refund . "

Ren : " That's not important. What I've said should give you enough reasons to plan the future direction of your class, right ?

Does it matter whether the full score is 100 , 1000 or 10000 ?

Just don't get deducted points !

What else could the first prize be ?

Just treat everything the school promotes as the content of your grand prize .

It's impossible that you have done your best but still can't get the best reward, right ?

That would be even better !

You can sue him the school for false advertising . The evidence is irrefutable and the compensation will be enough to support you for the rest of your life ! "
