Max's heart filled with frustration. 'Hateful… this damn little princess...' He cursed silently. 'If Ieave this fog region, I swear I'll grab that arrogant little butt of hers and give her a spanking she'll never forget.'
But Luna was annoyingly persistent. Within just a few breaths, she was already shoulder to shoulder with him, her petite frame moving effortlessly beside him, as if they were running together in sync.
She turned to look at him, her large, glassy eyes shimmering with moisture, lips quivering as if on the verge of tears. "Big brother, save me," she said in the softest, most pitiful tone he'd ever heard.
Max's heart actually skipped a beat. For a moment, he felt like he was about to slow down unconsciously. Her voice… her expression… the way her eyes glistened in the gloom—something about it pulled at him.
But then he snapped back.
