Chapter 207: The Start of the Soul Hunt
Yang Potian pondered the sudden visit from Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo, finding it odd. Reflecting on the original story, he suddenly realized the implications and his expression changed. These two were pillars of Spirit Hall and wouldn't usually venture out casually, let alone together. Their simultaneous arrival at Tianxing Academy could only mean they had a purpose.
The only plausible explanation was that Bibi Dong had sent them to keep an eye on the Almore Mountains—in particular, on the three Title Douluo at Tianxing Academy.
This indicated that Bibi Dong was about to initiate the Soul Hunt, her plan to wipe out both the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Dealing with these two powerful sects would require no fewer than seven Title Douluo, and possibly more. With the three Title Douluo from Tianxing Academy nearby, Bibi Dong would need to ensure they didn't interfere; any one of them could disrupt Spirit Hall's strategy.
Realizing this, Yang Potian quickly turned to his father, Yang Zhentian. "Father, I need to leave urgently. If an attack does come, evacuate the family immediately. Everything else can wait."
Without waiting for a reply, Yang Potian left Tianxing Academy, formulating a plan to disrupt Spirit Hall's moves. After thoroughly scouting the area and confirming that only minor spies were around, he set his sights on the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
Judging by current circumstances, Tianxing Academy should remain safe. With five Title Douluo present, Spirit Hall would need to send several Elders to pose a real threat. Besides, with Yang Tianyue wielding the Sea God's Trident, she could at least withstand an opponent at the ninety-sixth level.
Approaching the Thunder Canyon, Yang Potian began to carefully investigate. Sure enough, he spotted numerous spies around the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, frequently exchanging information. They were clearly monitoring the clan's every move, waiting for the optimal time to strike. This suggested that the Soul Hunt would commence within days.
Yang Potian donned attire similar to that of the spies, blending into the shadows to await Spirit Hall's attack. When the chaos began, he planned to take advantage of the situation to scavenge anything valuable. He decided not to involve himself with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan for now; after dealing with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he would assess the situation there, figuring that a half-crippled Sword Douluo wouldn't pose much of a threat.
After two days, Yang Potian finally observed a massive force from Spirit Hall approaching the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's territory. There were roughly 8,000 spirit masters, including three Title Douluo, dozens of Spirit Douluo, and a multitude of lower-level spirit masters. It was more than enough to wipe out the clan.
Notably, each spirit master appeared to be armed with a Zhuge Crossbow and other hidden weapons, tools that Spirit Hall had clearly been preparing meticulously over the past few years.
As Yang Potian shadowed the dark-clad spirit masters across the mountain river surrounding the clan's main grounds, he watched them construct small floating bridges to cross the river quickly. When the command rang out, "Kill—leave none alive," the black-clad spirit masters surged forward to surround and annihilate the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
Suddenly, a booming thunderclap split the air, followed by a furious roar: "Who dares invade my Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan? You court death!" A massive, forty-meter-long blue dragon appeared, crackling with lightning as a colossal bolt struck, instantly killing several intruders.
The dragon transformed into a towering man clad in golden armor, emanating a formidable aura that marked him as a powerful Title Douluo. This was Yu Yuanzhen himself, the clan's most powerful protector.
Yu Yuanzhen shouted, "Who dares trespass on my clan's sacred ground?"
In response, three figures stepped forward from among the black-clad spirit masters, positioning themselves to surround Yu Yuanzhen.
Yu Yuanzhen's face darkened as he recognized them. "Spirit Hall? What is the meaning of this? To send such a force against my Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan?"
One of the black-clad men replied, "Yu Yuanzhen, we're giving you a chance. If your clan swears allegiance to Spirit Hall, we'll let this slide. Your bloodline will be spared."
Yu Yuanzhen's roar shook the heavens. "Never! A dragon remains a dragon! We would rather die than serve as mere lapdogs!"
The man responded coldly, "Then you leave us no choice."
As all three Spirit Hall Douluo released their spirit power, revealing configurations of two yellow, two purple, and five black rings, Yu Yuanzhen mirrored their display.
Yang Potian observed from a distance, shaking his head. Then, his form flickered as he slipped past the ongoing battle, heading deeper into the clan's domain. His goal was not to save Yu Yuanzhen or the clan, with whom he had no personal ties, but rather to access the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's hidden treasury and claim its riches for himself.
Having already identified the vault's location during his initial reconnaissance, he was well-prepared for this heist.
Upon reaching the vault, he encountered two men guarding the entrance. One of them shouted, "Who are you, and why are you here?"
Yang Potian responded coolly, "I'm here for the vault. Step aside."
The man's face turned pale with rage. "You dare covet the treasures of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan?"
Both men activated their spirits and spirit rings, each revealing that they were Spirit Douluo with the powerful Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon spirit.
But Yang Potian wasted no time. His entire body turned golden as he charged forward, smashing through their defenses and grabbing their necks with his golden hands. With a single twist, he broke both necks, killing them instantly.
Given his strength, Spirit Douluo-level opponents posed little threat, and weaker Title Douluo could be dispatched in seconds.
With the guards neutralized, Yang Potian faced the massive, heavily fortified vault door. He swung his fist, shattering the door in one blow before stepping inside. The vault was layered with multiple doors, each heavier than the last. But Yang Potian punched his way through every one, eventually reaching the central chamber.
There, he beheld the full wealth of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. The room was filled with treasure, piled up like a small mountain, and precious items glittered on numerous shelves. At the back, a heavily fortified safe crafted from Deep Sea Silver was embedded in the wall, fused as one with the vault's structure and nearly immovable.
Yang Potian took out a sharp sword from his storage ring, slicing through the metal like it was butter. Inside, he found over a dozen lead-lined boxes, plus various bottles, jars, and ornate boxes. The lead boxes undoubtedly contained spirit bones, while the others housed various treasures of immense value.
Without examining each item, he swept everything into his storage device, determined to leave nothing behind.
As he gathered his haul, Yang Potian couldn't help but understand Bibi Dong's motivation. If Spirit Hall could secure all of these treasures, they would easily recoup any losses. Should the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan manage to liquidate this wealth, they would be a force to contend with.
In the original story, Spirit Hall's failure to completely eliminate the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan left Ning Fengzhi with the resources to restore part of his clan's strength, ultimately contributing to Bibi Dong's defeat.
After clearing out the first vault, Yang Potian made his way to two other storage locations within the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, intent on seizing as much as possible. His ultimate target, however, lay elsewhere: a mobile treasure trove containing three premium spirit bones, each over 50,000 years old. This prize was too tempting to ignore, and Yang Potian intended to claim it for himself.
