Chapter 209: The Battle of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan
After leaving Thunder Canyon, Yang Potian pushed the speed of his Tiger Hawk Wings to their peak, rapidly flying toward the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. Located about 700 kilometers from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, it would typically take several hours for a Title Douluo to cover such a distance. However, with his Tiger Hawk Wings now reaching 80,000 years of age, Yang Potian ranked among the fastest soul masters in existence, allowing him to reach his destination in under half an hour.
Upon arrival, Yang Potian saw the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan in flames and chaos, with the sounds of fierce battle echoing throughout—an infernal scene of war. Observing the battlefield, he noted that Sword Douluo was locked in a brutal fight against four Title Douluo, bearing several wounds but still standing. Among his opponents, Thornfish Douluo was severely injured and had lost combat ability, leaving three Title Douluo to continue besieging Sword Douluo. Bone Douluo and Ning Fengzhi were nowhere to be seen, likely having retreated in advance.
Ignoring Sword Douluo's fight, Yang Potian swiftly captured two informants within the clan, interrogating them for the location of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's treasury before setting off on a quick raid.
His efforts met with mixed results; out of the five treasuries, two were already emptied, likely due to Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo taking valuables during their retreat. Disappointed but undeterred, Yang Potian emptied the remaining three treasuries, ensuring his efforts weren't entirely wasted. With the loot secured, he hid a distance away to observe the unfolding battle—one of the most spectacular confrontations in all of the Douluo Continent.
On the battlefield, Sword Douluo was fierce and unrestrained, wielding the Seven Kill Sword to its fullest potential. His aura was even more intense than when he had faced Yang Potian, his blade radiating deadly intent. It seemed Sword Douluo had reached the peak of Level 96.
Meanwhile, the wounded Thornfish Douluo had been pulled back for protection, to prevent Sword Douluo from taking him out entirely or launching a surprise attack. Observing Sword Douluo's tactics, Yang Potian nodded in appreciation. Though fighting recklessly, Sword Douluo was strategically focused, aiming to first cause casualties among his opponents, knowing he'd eventually be worn down by their numbers.
Thornfish Douluo's spirit, the Thorn Blood Pufferfish, had potent toxins and external spikes. A hybrid attack and poison spirit master, his defense was moderate but his speed was low, making him a prime target for Sword Douluo. Against ordinary soul masters, his poisonous and durable defenses would have been deadly.
In battle, Sword Douluo's moves were relentless and aggressive, forgoing defense in favor of pure offensive force. He focused on Maoxiong Douluo, whose spirit, the Demon Bear, provided formidable defense but the slowest speed among the four attackers. Sword Douluo unleashed a massive character for "Kill" with a sweeping sword technique, the attack carrying immense killing intent and sharpness as it flew towards Maoxiong Douluo.
Maoxiong Douluo roared, activating his sixth spirit ability, Demon Bear's Guard. A massive bear spirit materialized, absorbing the full force of Sword Douluo's attack, but it sent him staggering backward.
On either side, Snake Spear Douluo brandished his enormous serpent spear, advancing on Sword Douluo, while Yan Ying Douluo unleashed flames, seeking to engulf Sword Douluo in a sea of fire.
Sword Douluo countered with Myriad Sword Convergence, summoning countless blades to intercept the dual assault. He then targeted Maoxiong Douluo with another "Kill" symbol, forcing him to continuously defend against Sword Douluo's offensive flurry.
Despite his fierce resistance, the situation was slowly tilting against Sword Douluo, who bore fresh wounds—a deep puncture from Thornfish Douluo's earlier attack, burns marring his once-pristine attire. If things continued, Sword Douluo's situation would soon turn dire.
After blocking three of Sword Douluo's "Kill" attacks, Maoxiong Douluo showed clear signs of fatigue. But with Sword Douluo's power also waning, the attrition battle seemed likely to end in favor of the Spirit Hall attackers. Summoning the last of his strength, Sword Douluo unleashed a fourth "Kill," dealing a severe blow to Maoxiong Douluo, though the latter retained some fight.
Gritting his teeth, Sword Douluo gathered his soul power for another strike, but Maoxiong Douluo roared and released his ninth spirit ability, Heaven-Rending Demon Bear. Transforming into a towering thirty-meter bear, Maoxiong Douluo lunged with outstretched claws toward Sword Douluo, as though aiming to tear him apart.
To dodge, Sword Douluo activated his seventh spirit ability, True Sword Form. A massive Seven Kill Sword appeared, slashing towards Maoxiong Douluo's paw. The impact sent Sword Douluo hurtling backward, while Yan Ying Douluo followed up with his ninth spirit ability, Inferno Sea, surrounding Sword Douluo in flames that burned both his body and soul power.
Amidst the flames, Snake Spear Douluo seized the moment, stabbing with his spear and severing Sword Douluo's arm. Sword Douluo's scream resounded across the battlefield. But unexpectedly, the agony pushed him past his bottleneck, breaking him through to Level 97.
Wielding the Seven Kill Sword in his left hand, he sent another "Kill" symbol towards Maoxiong Douluo. Already weakened, Maoxiong Douluo could no longer withstand the power of the newly empowered Sword Douluo and fell to the ground, critically injured and no longer able to fight.
Sword Douluo's final attack, Demon God's Twin Strike, materialized several colossal Seven Kill Swords in the air, threatening to annihilate Snake Spear Douluo and Yan Ying Douluo. This ultimate move harnessed the full power of his Level 97 breakthrough.
In desperation, Snake Spear Douluo's spear transformed, taking the form of a massive twin-headed serpent to parry Sword Douluo's assault, while Yan Ying Douluo morphed into a fiery eagle, unleashing flame attacks in an attempt to resist. As the sword energy descended, Snake Spear Douluo fell, and Yan Ying Douluo narrowly escaped, wounded but alive.
Three of the four Spirit Hall Title Douluo were incapacitated, and Yan Ying Douluo, badly shaken, had lost all will to fight. He transformed into his fiery eagle form and, gathering his injured comrades, fled the battlefield, ordering Spirit Hall's remaining forces to withdraw.
Exhausted, Sword Douluo stood with his Seven Kill Sword, his severed arm bleeding profusely. He forced himself to remain upright, knowing that any show of weakness would reignite the attack.
Within minutes, Spirit Hall's forces retreated, and Bone Douluo returned to the battlefield with Ning Fengzhi. They rushed to Sword Douluo's side, with Ning Fengzhi using his abilities to stabilize his condition. Though Ning Fengzhi's support proved crucial, restoring some of Sword Douluo's vitality, the missing arm meant his powers might never reach their former peak.
Observing from afar, Yang Potian watched the scene thoughtfully before slipping away.
However, Sword Douluo, alert even in his weakened state, sensed a faint murderous intent. Scanning the surroundings, he detected nothing and eventually relaxed.
"Uncle Sword, is something wrong?" Ning Fengzhi asked, puzzled.
Sword Douluo shook his head. "Just a moment ago, I felt a hint of killing intent, but it vanished quickly. There might have been another powerful presence here."
Ning Fengzhi's face paled. "If Spirit Hall sent five Title Douluo, our situation would've been far more dangerous."
Bone Douluo, inspecting the surroundings, shook his head. "Old Sword, there's no sign of anyone. Maybe it's your breakthrough—you're not fully adjusted to the heightened senses."
Sword Douluo's expression remained grave. "Old Bone, I've walked the path of the sword all my life. I would know if someone was here. Whoever it was, I felt no soul power fluctuations. It was only when they left that I detected their intent. This person is at least as strong as I am."
Despite their attempts to make sense of it, the three found no answer. They later returned to their sect, only to be met with a disheartening sight.
The aftermath of the battle left the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan devastated. Due to Yang Potian's dissemination of soul master manuals and designs for the Zhuge Crossbow, Spirit Hall had equipped its forces with them, nullifying the initial advantage that the Seven Treasure Clan might have otherwise had. Out of 3,000 disciples, only 500 remained, over eighty percent lost.
To make matters worse, three of their five treasuries had been emptied. Only Ning Fengzhi's quick decision to secure two treasury reserves preserved any wealth for the clan's future.
Seeing the damage to the vaults, Ning Fengzhi concluded that a master must have ransacked them. "Uncle Sword, Uncle Bone, it seems your sense was accurate; someone was indeed here, looting our treasuries during the fight."
He added, "This was no ally, but I doubt it was Spirit Hall, or they would have pressed their advantage. The loss of treasures is inconsequential; better that we avoid provoking this unknown enemy."
Realizing the severity of the situation, Ning Fengzhi decided, "We must abandon our headquarters and relocate to Heaven Dou City. Spirit Hall won't give up easily. As for this hidden master, since they haven't shown clear enmity, we can only hope they remain uninterested in further conflict."
Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo agreed, setting the plan into motion for a complete sect evacuation. Whoever this master was, they seemed unwilling to openly challenge the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan or Spirit Hall. For the battered clan, silence was the safest option.
