Chapter 355: The Black Dragon Sword
As the five combatants on the battlefield simultaneously unleashed their Martial Spirit Avatars (Weapon Spirit True Forms), the battle became increasingly intense and bloody. The massive Seven Kill Sword and the Soul Breaker Spear both attacked Tang San with a ferocity that demonstrated the peak of the three's combined power.
Gritting his teeth, Tang San used his hundred-thousand-year spirit ability, Wall of the Mighty, his only defensive spirit skill. A transparent barrier formed in front of his immense Clear Sky Hammer, attempting to withstand the three simultaneous assaults.
But the three opponents were in a battle frenzy, their power pushed to the utmost. Even a hundred-thousand-year spirit ability struggled to withstand the combined force of three Martial Spirit Avatars, especially from three opponents renowned for their overpowering offense. As the Soul Breaker Spear and Seven Kill Sword struck, the Wall of the Mighty shattered, and though Tang San fought desperately with his Clear Sky Hammer, he was ultimately blasted backward. He sustained three serious wounds—one from a sword slash and two from the spear's piercing blows.
For a moment, a spark of clarity flickered across Tang San's face, likely brought on by the pain. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, which stained his chest a dark red, yet disturbingly, a dark, shadowy mist was mixed within his blood, giving it an eerie quality.
Understanding he had no hope of escaping unscathed, Tang San's expression turned manic once more. In a burst of desperate energy, he detonated four of his black spirit rings. Although he avoided detonating his red spirit rings, the explosive power was overwhelming.
The Clear Sky Hammer swelled in size, growing to an enormous scale like a mountain ready to collapse the heavens. Yang Zhentian and Yang Wudi exchanged a knowing look and, in a similar move, detonated seven of their own spirit rings. Their Soul Breaker Spears expanded in size, unleashing an aura of unstoppable, piercing force as they struck with all their might.
Sword Douluo released his ninth spirit ability, Demon-God Slash, to its maximum potential, summoning an immense Seven Kill Sword that descended with the force to split the earth itself.
Meanwhile, Niu Gao threw himself before the trio, his massive armored rhinoceros body creating a near-impenetrable defense. Behind them, Ye Lingling activated her Nine-Hearted Begonia spirit, enveloping the four with restorative energy and returning them to peak condition.
Just as both sides were about to collide with full force, two dark shadows appeared at the perimeter of Tianxing Academy, attempting to break in and assist Tang San. Yang Potian materialized before them, his face calm, as if he'd been expecting them all along.
The two figures were none other than the Black Dragon Di Tian and Bear Lord, who had evidently followed Tang San to Tianxing Academy, ready to rescue him at any moment.
Seeing Yang Potian, Di Tian's expression turned uncharacteristically tense. "Yang Potian, Tang San is of great importance to me. I'm here to ensure his safe exit."
Yang Potian sneered. "Di Tian, Bear Lord—Tang San has caused enough chaos here at Tianxing Academy, and you expect him to leave unscathed? You must be underestimating us."
Di Tian's gaze turned cold. "I'm merely informing you, not asking your permission. You, of all people, should understand the might of our spirit beast race. Are you not afraid I'll unleash a beast tide and destroy your academy?"
Yang Potian laughed dismissively. "Beast tide? You think I'm concerned with that? I've tolerated your interference before, but to presume that your so-called 'face' means something here—do you really believe the spirit beast race is so invincible?"
Bear Lord's temper flared, and he growled, "Di Tian, why waste words with this fool? Let's kill everyone in this academy and see if he can still talk big!"
Yang Potian's gaze turned icy as he addressed Bear Lord. "Just a simple-minded bear, and you dare threaten me? I could make you into a bear paw meal in a heartbeat."
As he spoke, an immense aura radiated from Yang Potian, creating a crushing pressure aimed directly at Bear Lord. Di Tian roared, "You truly dare defy me, Yang Potian?!"
At the same time, Di Tian's body emanated an intense black energy that rivaled Yang Potian's blood-red aura, splitting the sky into two opposing realms. Bear Lord, fueled by fury, unleashed his own formidable metallic essence, a blazing golden light.
Yang Potian's expression remained cool as he replied, "Di Tian, this world respects power above all. If you want to take Tang San, then prove your strength. Otherwise, don't expect me to yield to your demands."
Di Tian's face darkened. When he and Yang Potian had last met in the Star Dou Forest, their strengths had been evenly matched. Yet, in this short time, Yang Potian's power seemed to have surged, causing even Di Tian to tread carefully.
Di Tian signaled to Bear Lord, "Bear Lord, go rescue Tang San. As for this human, I haven't had a decent fight in a while. Let's see how strong you've become, Yang Potian."
Bear Lord immediately took to the skies, heading straight for Tianxing Academy to assist Tang San. But before Yang Potian could intervene, Di Tian lunged at him, striking with a powerful claw. Despite the simplicity of the move, it carried an immense, destructive force.
Unfazed, Yang Potian responded with a punch, his fist brimming with boundless power that even Di Tian found startling. When the claw and fist collided, the force caused both to stagger several meters back, indicating that they were still equally matched.
Di Tian was inwardly shocked. As a dragon, his physical strength was unmatched among spirit beasts, his body widely regarded as the most formidable in all of Douluo Star's forests. Yet Yang Potian's raw physical power rivaled his own.
Despite his astonishment, Di Tian's pride as a dragon remained unshaken, and he regarded Yang Potian as no more than an annoyance. With a flick of his arm, a massive black longsword appeared in his grasp—the Black Dragon Sword. Its hilt alone was nearly a meter in length, while the blade itself stretched an astounding eight meters. The blade radiated an overwhelming sword intent, so potent it seemed capable of slicing the very heavens open.
Seeing the Black Dragon Sword, Yang Potian's eyes glinted with excitement; the thrill of a worthy challenge was evident. Since consuming the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass, Yang Potian's proficiency in swordsmanship had reached new heights, and he relished the opportunity to test himself.
Yang Potian's spirit rings—five black and four red—glowed around him as his Soul Breaker Spear materialized in his grip. This battle would be a clash of power and skill. Would his Soul Breaker Spear prove mightier than Di Tian's Black Dragon Sword?
