Chapter 3 - Chapter three

The sun starts to rise, the rays hitting me in the eyes. I groaned as I covered my face with my blanket. I sighed heavily before I finally got up. I checked my phone to see the time. I felt my soul drop to the ground as I saw it was 9:37 a.m. "No! I can't be late to school!" I screamed before I shot up out of bed and I ran around my room to get ready for school quickly.

I felt like I was on a mission trying to get ready for school. After I was done, I quickly grabbed my keys for my house and car and ran out of the door. I ran to my car and when I got there, I raced to school.

Once I got to school, I ran inside. I panted heavily as I got into the hallway by my classroom. Once I calmed down, I stood up and straightened myself out and I walked into class like nothing happened. "Adnois Kim?" The teacher said as she took attendance. I looked up at her and replied, "Here." She looked over at the door and looked at me up and down and hesitantly nodded her head.

"You were almost late...go and sit down before I write you up for being tardy." She said as she pointed to my seat. I nodded my head, and I went to my seat and sat down. My friend Ava sat next to me. She glanced over at me as I sat down.

"Girl, why were you late?" She whispered to me. "The new kid isn't a college kid. He is in the same grade as us actually. And, he has this class too!" She whispered to me again.

I looked up at her as she talked about the new kid. "Wait what?" I whispered back to her. "Xavier is in the same grade as us?" I said as I looked around the class.

"Now class, we have a new student, despite it being halfway point of the fall semester. Xavier, please stand up and introduce yourself to the class." She said before she moved out of the way for him to come up and introduce himself.

I looked around and I heard the chair behind me move and I saw the tall figure walk up to the front of the classroom.

His outfit was different from last night, comfier if anything.

It was a white hoodie with a purple-ish long sleeve shirt under it and a pair of regular blue jeans. He looked around the class as he stood in the front of the class. "Hello, my name is Xavier and I am a senior. Uhm...that's mainly about it actually." He said as he nodded his head a bit at the end of his sentence. "Besides the fact I like games and movies. That's mainly it about me. Nice to meet you guys."

He looked around the room again before my eyes laid on his. I quickly looked away from him before he walked over and sat back down in his seat as the teacher talked about the assignment for the week. I continued on with doing my work so I could distract myself.

I felt eyes just staring at me. I glanced over and saw no other than Xavier himself staring at me. I quickly looked away as I didn't want him to come over here or anything. After some time, I heard the bell ring for the other class. I got up quickly to head out before I heard my name being called. I stopped walking and turned around. It was Xavier. I smiled shyly at him before I fidgeted with my fingers. "Hey Xavier...".

He gently waved to me. "Hey...Adnois...correct?" He asked as he walked a little bit closer to me. I gently nodded my head. "See, I remember your name." He said as he smiled softly with a giggle at the end. "Sorry, I thought I told you I was starting today when I met you last night at the arcade." He said as he fidgeted with his hoodie sleeve.

I nodded my head before I looked at him. "Let's step out of the classroom. I have to go to my next class." I said before I walked out of the classroom. He followed behind me. "But, no. You didn't mention that actually. I honestly thought you were a college student because you look like one." I said as I chuckled softly.

Xavier laughed from the comment that I made. "Wow, you really thought I was a college kid. Well, now I just feel old." He said as he crossed his arms. "But, I am not a college student. I am your average, ordinary highschooler dude." He said as he chuckled at the end.

I blushed from embarrassment as he said that. "Oh my gosh...I am so sorry...I am so embarrassed now..." I said as I covered my face to hide my embarrassment. "Oh my gosh...this is so embarrassing..." I said before I looked back up at him.

I heard his chuckle. He shook his head. "No, don't be embarrassed about it." He said. I heard the bell ring for the second class. "Well, looks like we are late for our second class." He said as he looked at me.

"Oh shit..." I mumbled as I heard the bell. I groaned as I looked away.

"I mean, we could skip the period. It is my free period so we can go anywhere we want." Xavier said when he looked around the hallway.

I pursed my lips as I pondered it. "Well, I mean I can show you around the school if you want me to. I know you are new and all so I can do that." I said as I fidgeted with my fingers. I saw him nodding his head to my suggestion. "Great. Well...uh...as you know this was your home room slash first period."

I went on and on about the school, telling him the ins and outs of the place, secrets about the teachers and students, just everything that I felt like he should know about the school. After some time, I heard the bell ring again for third period. I turned to him and sighed a bit. "Well, I hope the tour helped you out with finding your classes and stuff." I said as I looked up at him.

"Thank you Adnois. It definitely did help me out. Maybe I will see you at lunch?" Xavier said and asked as he started to walk backwards for his class. I nodded my head before I waved bye to him. I went to turn around and all of a sudden, Ava was standing behind me.

"Jesus! You scared me!" I practically yelled as I saw her. Ava started laughing from my reaction and I shook my head. "Seriously, you scared the living daylights out of me!"

"Well, I saw you and him talking so I didn't want to disturb y'all. Also, why weren't you in second period? Rawski had literally interrogated me because we are always together. Did you give the new kid a tour of school or some shit?" Ava asked as she crossed her arms and gave me a stern look.

"Well...yeah I did because he wanted to talk to me after class apparently. And we talked for a bit. I didn't realize the time and neither did he. So, after the bell rang, I offered to give him a tour of the school at least. And that's exactly what I did." I said as Ava continued to look at me.

She smirked before she wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "Alright buddy, I believe you. I ALWAYS believe you. I just needed to know if I was right about the whole thing." Ava said as she laughed a bit. "But let's go to free period. Also, I work with you today at your dad's shop by the way." Ava said before she dragged me to our free period.

Hours passed and it was now lunch time. Me and Ava sat at our usual spot, in the corner by the window. We like to look at nature when we eat food. I looked up at Ava and in the corner of my eye, I saw Xavier. He was looking around like a lost puppy. I glanced at him before I looked at Ava. "Oh. I forgot to mention, I told Xavier that he can sit with us at lunch. Maybe you can introduce yourself to him if you want." I said before I waved to Xavier. He smiled happily as he looked over and walked over to us.

"Dude...okay....uh...I will introduce myself properly this time to him." She said before Xavier sat down next to Ava. He looked over at Ava. "Hi...I'm Xavier. Nice to meet you." He said and put his hand out for her to shake.

Ava put her hand in his and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, Xavier. I'm Ava, Adnois's best friend." Ava said before pulling her hand away. It was awkward for a bit before we all talked about stuff we like and stuff we enjoy doing.

"Wait, aren't you coming with us to the museum this weekend?" Ava asked Xavier. I looked over at him and I nodded my head. "Yeah, I think I told you about it at the arcade."

He nodded his head as he listened to us. "Yeah. I am going to the museum with you guys on Saturday." He said before the bell rang again. I groaned before I got up. "I will see y'all later. I have head to my class."

"Alright. I will see y'all after class then." Xavier said as he got up. We all put our bags on and walked out together before we parted ways for classes.
