"I am just trying to be realistic here if you won't be. This bond will definitely end in disaster. You are young, impulsive. Our other mate is a damn angel. This thing between us... it isn't..." Velmoria felt a bitter, vindicating pang. "His refusal to come, doesn't that prove my point? An angel, Nyxara. He sees this for the madness it is. He is wise to refuse."
"He's a fool," Nyxara countered, her voice hardening again, losing its momentary vulnerability. "A glorious, beautiful fool who is just as terrified as you are. But his fear doesn't change the truth of what we are to each other."
Velmoria was ready to counter her words.
"Don't you dare." Nyxara cut in. "Don't you dare try to belittle our bond."
By this point, Nyxara had stopped right in front of her, and it was here that Velmoria realized how much taller the younger demon was. For a moment, silence clamed the room once more.
"I am not belittling it," Velmoria finally said.
