Chapter 38 - Ian and Alaric's Dynamic

Ian didn't know what was going through Alaric's mind. But even if he knew, he wouldn't really care about it. In the end, only strength speaks. If you don't have sufficient strength, you don't have the qualification to speak. This was true back on Earth, and it was more so in this world where supernatural power exists!

"So why did you call me?" Ian's eyes darted back to the Elder with a questioning look. "More so, in such an unsightly place... I don't mean to offend you, but this place does look badass, but I'll be blunt... It's kinda disappointing."

"Do you think piling up skeletal remains to form a mountain is that intimidating?"

Ian went on and on about the negatives of the place that Alaric felt his eardrums hurt for a while.

"Stop!" Alaric couldn't take it anymore. In response, Ian quickly sealed his mouth.

'Opppsss... Did I take it too far?'

As Alaric saw Ian stop, he heaved a sigh of relief. He didn't expect that the fearsome giant vampire had such a poisonous mouth, which was a surprise for him. "This place is the Burial Sanctity of Skeletal Mounds!" Who doesn't know about this place!?" His saliva almost spewed as his voice raised a few decibels.

Ian stared at Alaric speechlessly. With a shrug, he whispered. "Such a long name. But I haven't really heard about it." He said carefully.

Hearing this, Alaric calmed down. He stared at Ian for a few seconds before he sighed. He shouldn't take it personally, right?

"It seems you don't really have a clue, do you?"

"Nah, I just don't really know it."

"Damn it..."

"Well, to inform you. The Burial Sanctity of Skeletal Mounds, this area that we are in is the place where all the Elder-Level vampires' remains throughout history are located..."

"Do you see those skeletons? They all have the strength of an Elder!"

"This place had such history?"

"Impressive, right? In essence, this is the backyard of the Vampire Council. The only place in the Blood Realm that the Vampire Council decided to be worthy where the main base to be located."

Ian nodded, he had to admit that he might be a little impressed now compared to earlier. He turned his eyes to the mountain of skeletons with a bit of appreciation now. "Everyone who could reach such level of strength is indeed worthy of my attention."

'Such pride...' Alaric couldn't help but give Ian a second glance. 'Well, with his strength at his age, such an egoistic, prideful nature isn't that unusual.'

"Well, let's cut to the chase. Although I'm happy with all the small talks. I still have a lot of things I need to do." Said, Ian bluntly.

Alaric smiled, his eyes wide, his arms crossed. "The Vampire Council gives you a task to win this war. For the reward? You'll gain access to the God of War Secret Realm."

Ian raised an eyebrow. "God of War Secret Realm? Fine!"

"Huh? You won't even ask? Do you already know the details about the God of War Secret Realm?"

"Nah," Ian shrugged.

Alaric's eyes twitched slightly at this. 'What the hell is wrong with this brat's brain?'

As thoughtless as he was in the past, he wouldn't have survived in this cruel world without some special qualities. He had met countless opponents and allies... The thousand years of living had deeply ingrained the darkness of this world in him. He had understood the dynamics of relationships well. Although he hasn't studied psychology, anyone who has lived for a thousand years could very well be qualified to be considered a master of psychology!

He's not all theory, but through practical experiences with dealing with people in all walks of life, rather, interaction with various races in the Curtained Imperium.

Yet, what really scared Alaric was the human world. Humans are the most sinister, cunning, and darkest creature. He had fought them so many times that he had developed fear towards their scheming nature!

In terms of population of powerhouses, the dark creatures had more lower-level, mid-level, and elite level than the human world. However, in terms of the top powerhouse, the humans surpassed the entirety of Curtained Imperium!

How so? In the Curtained Imperium, in the Blood Realm, there was only one Grand Elder figure which was equivalent to an SS-rank hunter of the Human World. Then, there was also one Alpha-level Werewolf in the Werewolf Race which was also equivalent to an SS-rank hunter!

In total, there are twelve SS-ranked equivalent figure in the Curtained Imperium... How about the Human Race? There are only five... But the thing is, there is also three SSS-ranked hunters that far surpasses the Grand Elder of vampires and Alpha werewolf!

One SSS-rank hunter could kill two SS-ranked when goes all out or hold back five SS-ranked powerhouses when they goes all out. The Curtained Imperium could only rely on their twelve SS-ranked powerhouses to check and balance the three SSS hunters!

Fortunately, Humans are selfish and divided. Inner conflicts due to each other's interest prevents them from being united. Backstabbing, betrayal, subtle machinations, the whirlpool of politics, etc... Gave the Curtained Imperium the upperhand and prevents the human world from performing an all-out attack.

Due to inner conflict, the Human World becomes weaker and weaker with the big countries almost, always send assasins to eliminate each other's geniuses. They care more about their country's interest than the overall Humanity's interest. That's how dark humans are...

'The Imperium might house us dark creatures. But... When it comes to evil, humans are far darker.' Alaric's face darkened as he recalled how he had fallen from human conspiracies multiple times.

All of a sudden, Alaric warned. "Be cafeful of humans."

Ian was taken aback. A look of confusion crept on his face. 'What does he mean?'

As a human in his past life, Ian felt bewildered. Why should he be careful? Is it because humans are strong?

Alaric smiled warily and said cryptically: "You would understand in the future."

"Thanks for the warning. but I dislike vauge messages the most." Ian said. "Anyway, I'll win this war against the Werewolves."

"I do not doubt that..." Alaric also smiled. 'I like his attitude.'

Ian smiled. 'This bastard is irritating to talk to.'
