Under Chiyo's command, the Puppet Brigade surged toward the camp's medical unit. Danzo, seething with anger, attempted to intercept them but was swiftly blocked by Chiyo's puppets.
"Heh, Danzo, I think you're better off staying here with this old lady," Chiyo taunted with a sly grin.
"Chiyo, I swear, the humiliation you've caused me today I'll repay it a hundredfold!" Danzo growled. With the war against the Rain Village nearing its conclusion, and negotiations on the horizon, Danzo had been poised to be hailed as one of Konoha's heroes.
But with Chiyo's sudden move, his ambitions were crumbling. Instead of being celebrated, he'd be ridiculed, his hopes of glory dashed. If the medical unit was completely wiped out, he might even face serious consequences.
"Well then, I'll be waiting for your revenge, Danzo, though I doubt you'll get the chance,"
Chiyo retorted, her eyes gleaming with malice. It was clear to anyone that Danzo's stability in the camp was largely thanks to the presence of Orochimaru and Tsunade.
Without them, he would be overwhelmed. If the war had gone according to plan, Danzo would indeed have claimed significant credit. But now, with the camp breached and the medical unit in shambles, his position was all but lost.
If Danzo could still command operations in the Land of Rivers after this, Chiyo would be the first to admit she'd underestimated him. But the reality was, the Third Hokage would almost certainly remove him from command after such a failure.
"Ahh! Help! Someone, please help!"
Most of the medical ninjas were not trained for combat. With the sudden attack catching them off guard, and despite Konoha's forces beginning to organize, no one had anticipated that the Puppet Brigade would suddenly shift focus to the medical unit.
Chaos erupted as many wounded and ill were slaughtered, with countless medical ninjas falling victim as well.
"Retreat!"
Ignoring Danzo's furious, bloodthirsty gaze, Chiyo, satisfied with the devastation, immediately ordered a withdrawal. There was no point in dragging the fight out-while Konoha had taken significant losses, the Sand Village had also suffered. It was wiser to retreat now while Konoha's counterattack was still disorganized.
Having breached Konoha's camp, inflicted heavy casualties, and severely crippled the medical unit, Chiyo could barely contain her satisfaction. There was no need to push their luck further.
"Kill them! Kill them all!"
Danzo, losing all semblance of composure, roared in fury. His rage was palpable as he led his Root ninjas in a relentless pursuit of the retreating Sand forces.
