As Mary was sighing again, the door of the soup restaurant burst open and Julian came in. His face was a mess of tears and snot.
"Oh my, oh my, what happened to your face?"
"Mom, can't I just get divorced...?"
"What? Son, what nonsense are you talking about?"
"I really can't take it anymore! Every weekend, I'm summoned to my in-laws' house to drive them around, caddy for their golf games, carry their shopping bags... Am I their servant? Last week, they even made me take their dog to doggy daycare!"
Julian started sniffling again, overcome with renewed sorrow.
Mary stood for a moment with her mouth open, just staring at Julian. She had never imagined her precious son would end up living like this.
