Riezekiel's brows furrowed as he grasped his throbbing chest which begun aching for no reason, he sighed hoping everything was going okay back in the base
Was she okay? He thought
"Chief what do we do about the eggs? They'll be hatching soon" Cedric asked with a hint of urgency in his voice
"If we can leave the nest, there are grenades to blow up the nest and everything in it" Azreal answered fiddling with the crystal stones he had collected along the nest walls
"We could plant the Grenades now" Cedric replied with a hint of nostalgia
"Are you foolish we'll all die" Rico's hoarse vice broke the harmonious atmosphere as the three men turned to where Rico laid
"You're awake" Riezekiel's eyes took in Rico's form and Rico nodded weakly, his head throbbed painfully and his throat felt too dry
"Drink some water first….how are you feeling?" Riezekiel asked as he handed Rico a water bag, however he couldn't quite place his hand on why his chest felt suffocating, making breathing a tad bit difficult for him
Rico took the water bag, chugging down the water greedily, his eyes darted between the three men
Noting he was the fourth awake amongst all the soldiers
How long had they been awake? How long had he been in that nightmare? His whole body trembled visibly
"Thank you chief" he forced a smile to calm his raging heart and Riezekiel nodded taking the water bag from him
"Is Ryker here?" Rico asked, remembering the last person he spoke to was in fact Ryker
"He's not here" Cedric replied and Rico sighed in relief
At least others made it out alive, but why hadn't the higher ups done nothing?
"There might be trouble at the base" Riezekiel's spoke his thoughts out loud while clutching his chest. He had a terrible feeling
"What….?!" The three men were visibly shocked and shaken by Riezekiel's words
"Our families are back in the base…." Azreal's voice faltered as he glanced at the other soldiers who were very much still unconscious
They really had to leave here
"We can't keep waiting idly" Cedric clenched his fist tightly by his side , his teeth clenched and unclenched
His family was still back at the base
"Calm down Cedric" Rico sighed heavily, the weight of the news shock them all
But he knew losing control would solve nothing
"Ryker would have sent help, a long time ago... how didn't I think of that! There's been no movement outside!!!!" Cedric pulled at his hair, his anxiety building
Their families were still out there!
"What to do now....." Azreal muttered visibly shaken by the news
Riezekiel was no different
He wondered how Zosia would be doing at the moment or how the base was holding up
Damn he couldn't place his head around what the higher ups were up to
But with everything happening the way it was
It all definitely was no coincidence, he knew there was something shady in play
Something dangerous
"We'll have to wait for the others to wake up, however while we wait we have to start making plans, we can't hide in here forever" Riezekiel'voice was low but firm, the others all heard him clearly
"What if we split?" Cedric suggested "it would buy us time to save our families" Azreal added
"Split...? Do you think there'd be a mecha out there waiting for us to use it? They'd have taken the mecha's and left a long time ago" Rico snorted, though he couldn't blame anyone but he couldn't help the nagging feeling that there was something fishy in play
But how?!
How did the zergs evolve so quickly?!
"We can't keep waiting" Azreal whispered gravely, his face dampened with silent tears
"We don't have a choice" Riezekiel sighed
"Well, I do have a choice! I can find my way out of here and go save my family" Cedric spoke firmly already cooking up ideas on how to leave this hell quickly
"You'd die if you act rashly, not like I care anyway….. I'd deliver your body to your family with a banner of honour" Rico mocked
"Selfish bastard" Cedric scoffed in disdain ready to swing his fist at Rico but Azreal held him back
"There's movements lay low" Riezekiel' whispered as he shut his eyes and begun to slowly cultivate the little energy in the air
He knew deep down they couldn't leave rashly else everyone else would die
And till they found a way to make the others wake up, they couldn't leave
"If you all wanna leave, you can do so when the time is right but I'm waiting here with my soldiers" Riezekiel added with a firm voice
The others swallowed hard but ultimately said nothing
"I'm not one to ditch my comrades, we live and die together!" Rico whispered with a wide smile then he closed his eyes and begun to cultivate the energy in the air
