Chapter 247 - Chapter 247 - Meeting the Giant of Skellige 06.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

Madara and Ciri had disappeared into the clouds as they walked, with the snowy white landscape being the only visible thing ahead.

The boy's eyes quickly changed color; he activated the Sharingan, while Ciri stayed behind him the entire time.

Even though it was a cloud and not a storm, it still made them a little disoriented. But thanks to the Sharingan, Madara quickly found the way, avoiding the edges where the path was quite winding.

No one could pass through there without risking a fall. And it would be quite a fall.

Their vision only improved when they found a cave, which served as the passage to continue along the road they were following.

Ciri let out a sigh upon finally seeing something other than clouds and snow.

"It's kind of annoying." She couldn't help but grumble, while Madara didn't reply and just checked the structure of the cave.

"This is the last place with human movement... But it also indicates the giant comes here..." Madara commented, as clearly the giant must, at some point, come down to get food.

There was a kind of altar like a platform in the middle of the cave, some empty cages, and also a pen on the side. Indicating that animals were placed in those spots.

The mountain folk themselves seemed to do this precisely to avoid the wrath of the giant. After all, if not for the food given, the giant would be forced to look for other sources of nourishment.

One could see several remains that had been thrown here for months and years, but there was no sign of the giant being close to them, while its tracks led to the back of the cave.

"What do you think this place is?" Ciri asked, approaching him and looking around curiously.

"This isn't the giant's dwelling... I believe the villagers place food and animals here at specific time intervals, and the giant comes down to this part to take them. He must return the bones so the villagers can get rid of them... Since he doesn't eat here...," Madara said, examining the terrain. There was nothing indicating that the giant killed the animals and ate them there.

He paused.

"Not just that, but the giant must also hibernate. The last time he had food was more than two weeks ago. He might still be hibernating. It could happen once a month, maybe less," Madara concluded.

He looked toward the path the giant took and began to walk in that direction.

"Well, let's keep going. I'm wondering where this leads," Madara said, while Ciri followed beside him.

They walked through the cave until they found another opening leading outside once again. And once again, everything was filled with clouds. There was no other choice but for Madara to activate his Sharingan again, until he finally found the main entrance to the next cave: a large opening leading to the mountain peak.

"That must be 15 meters high?!" Ciri murmured, staring in awe at the entrance.

"Yes..." Madara nodded. The giant seemed larger than he had thought.

They were now far from the village where they had left the horses. There were the same footprints they had seen from the previous cave, and judging by the size, the giant must have been more than 10 meters tall.

The cave was immense, with paths as large as the entrance. It was clearly very deep.

It was the giant's hideout, without a doubt.

Ciri couldn't stop looking at the entrance, a bit confused. Madara ignored her confusion and checked the place.

His eyes scanned the ground, following the footprints, and he went after the freshest tracks.

"Come on, Ciri. Let's deal with this giant once and for all." Madara said and moved forward.

He wasn't the least bit worried about the danger the giant could pose — he and Ciri weren't ordinary citizens of Skellige; they were far more powerful, after all.

They continued walking through the cave for about ten more minutes, without any hurry, until they finally found a massive area at the mountain's peak, with a few openings to the outside, while the cold wind blew through.

They were in the place that served as the giant's dwelling.

So it was no surprise to find the creature there, sleeping in the center of the area on what appeared to be many animal pelts — as if he were merely napping, but in truth... he was hibernating.

There was a huge cauldron nearby, with what looked like a furnace, which indicated the giant at least knew how to cook — a sign of intelligence. But Madara doubted he had much more than that.

There was also a spot filled with bones from various animals. They were much more recent than those found in the other cave.

And there wasn't necessarily anything human there, but that didn't mean the giant had never fed on human flesh.

It was quite possible that, thanks to the offerings the mountain folk made to him, the giant had given up that habit — a way for the common people to protect themselves from the creature they viewed as a god. It was a terrible place to live, but it also lacked the dangers that other villages below the mountain faced. The giant seemed to protect them in exchange for their animals.

"He's huge..." Ciri murmured, looking at the giant who was bigger than a cyclops. While a cyclops stood around six meters tall, this giant was nearly double that — somewhere between ten and eleven meters.

"Bigger than we saw." Madara agreed.

"Yeah... Now, how are we going to deal with him?" Ciri asked with an amused tone. "Are we going to defeat him?" she asked again, seeing Madara already deep in thought.

"I don't think that would be ideal. He seems useful here, and we only came to observe him... But it would be good to set some boundaries. Besides, he'll smell us when he wakes up, and that might lead him to retaliate against the mountain villages for humans invading his territory..." Madara said, looking seriously at the creature.

"Just because we're not worried about a possible attack doesn't mean he couldn't go berserk someday. I intend to place him under a summoning contract... And I'm also going to trap him in a genjutsu." Madara decided.

"Alright." Ciri responded, knowing she didn't need to do anything else.

He then simply jumped, reaching the giant on his bed without even waking him as he continued snoring — his feet making no sound as they touched the ground, thanks to his ninja lightness.

The giant was stunned when something suddenly came near his head and kicked him. He let out a frightened scream, falling to the side as he quickly opened his eyes, blinking several times and trying to understand what had happened.

He shook his neck and immediately began to get up, leaning his body forward while pushing himself with his arms.

Still scratching the side of his head, confused about what was happening, his gaze turned to the white-haired human in the distance, who was looking at him with a grimace.

The giant certainly had some degree of intelligence, but he was still a bit slow. It was evident he could become angry at that human invading his territory. But then, he noticed someone else below, standing there staring at him. He moved his body, backing away a bit from that human, while his steps echoed through the area, and finally looked at the intruder so close to him.

The giant stood there for about five seconds, staring at Madara. Without warning, the giant suddenly advanced with his leg, trying to kick him while letting out a furious roar. But the kick was in vain — Madara spun his body easily, dodging without effort.

The giant tried to recover quickly, but Madara had already jumped on him. He was surprised to see the human right at the height of his chest. The giant's first reaction was to try to punch him, but Madara was already in motion. He spun his body and delivered a flying kick that landed squarely on the creature's chest.

The surprise and pain made the giant groan, being thrown backward by the force of the blow, despite his enormous body.

He dragged himself for several meters before trying to get up again, but Madara landed on his chest and looked directly into his eyes as his Sharingan activated. The giant, who was about to throw the human off him, suddenly froze.

He completely lost control of his own body.

Madara began to search his mind — which wasn't very difficult. After all, even a sorcerer could easily enter the fragile mind of a giant, but controlling him completely was another matter.

Madara had the Sharingan and quickly began implementing commands into the creature's brain: do not harm humans, do not attack them, not even approach them.

"Is it over already?" Ciri asked as Madara jumped back. The giant was now standing peacefully, his eyes red, replicating the image of the Sharingan.

"Yes." Madara answered calmly as he began to pull out a summoning scroll. He made the giant bleed and sign it with his fingerprint.

Madara then healed the giant's finger and returned to Ciri, who was still admiring the creature.

"Let's go back. We've finished our business here." Madara said, and Ciri nodded.

The giant was left behind and returned to sleep, and they moved on, beginning to leave the cave.

Without any more secrets, there were areas of the cave filled with gold. Madara didn't hesitate to take some of the treasures the giant had been accumulating over the centuries — he could see it clearly while searching his mind.

"Are you sure you should be doing that?" Ciri asked, seeing her husband taking the creature's belongings.

"Does the gold serve any purpose for the giant?" Madara replied calmly, while Ciri had no answer.

"Either way, we've dealt with this threat. In the future, you saw he would become a problem. If the giant attacked the entire island, everyone would run and abandon the place." Madara said at last, as they walked toward the cave's exit.

"Well... you're right." Ciri agreed, remembering very well what could have happened.

They made their way back. The cloud was no longer as thick as before, but it still looked like a heavy fog.

When they reached the village, there was no longer as much snow accumulated. They went straight to the stable where they had left the horses.

"Where are we going?" Ciri asked.

"I think we should leave the horses here. We'll summon them later." Madara decided.

"Hey, you two! We saw you heading up the mountain path! What were you doing up there?!" Suddenly, a man's voice shouted angrily, approaching them with rage in his eyes.

"Now this..." Madara sighed, reactivating his Sharingan and freezing the man in place with a stare. The man simply turned around and walked back to his house in silence.

Ciri looked at him, and Madara just shrugged.

"I'd rather not draw attention. Let's just leave." Madara said, and Ciri ended up agreeing. She took his hand, and in the next moment, both of them glowed and vanished.

They soon reappeared on a beach of the same island.

"And now? Are we going back to Ard Skellige?" Ciri asked.

"Yes. Let's deal with the matter of our old enemy after exploring more of the islands — we'll have time for that." He said, and she nodded.

"I want to go back and resolve it... but in a different way... Let me ask you something." She said, looking out at the sea.

"What do you mean?" He asked, as she blushed a little.

"I was thinking... how about you carry me on your back? It seems romantic." She said, slightly embarrassed, while Madara raised an eyebrow — but in the end, he accepted her request.

In the next moment, he began running over the water, heading toward the main island, with Ciri on his back. She started laughing the next second. Ciri was having fun being on Madara's back as they ran across the sea.

Some creatures in the middle of the ocean immediately noticed them and tried to attack, but Madara dodged them all. He grabbed a few kunai and threw them, hitting the monsters before they exploded with paper bombs.

And so he continued. Some ships passing by looked at the scene, incredulous at the sight of a young man running over the water with a girl on his back.

To the sailors, it looked like they were seeing things.
