Chapter 285 - Chapter 285 - Finding Some Solution.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

The plan there was almost fully developed, but one crucial detail was still missing: it was necessary to try to master a spell that could achieve the same effect that Eira was producing in Ciri's body, nullifying the small amounts of chakra that the fetus had begun to create as it came into contact with her body.

Yennefer worked for the next few hours trying to create a spell that could replicate that, while Triss also helped, but the result was frustrating.

"We can't do such a thing..." Yennefer said, discouraged.

"We must keep trying." Triss said to Madara beside Ciri. She had received the memories he had passed on to Yennefer.

Ciri was still under Eira's care, and Madara, the original, would not leave her side. The girl was not at all happy with the fact that they would be separated. Geralt had gone out with Mousesack to speak with the king, while Mousesack would return later to try to help the sorceresses.

"Yennefer... I've been thinking. Maybe we should ask her for help." Triss said.

"I don't want to owe her anything!" Yennefer replied.

"You know that, among us, she considers you more of a daughter than anyone else. Even back then, when you were..." Triss didn't finish the sentence, since Yennefer had once been a hunchback, and she was like that when she entered the magic academy for girls.

Yennefer only pressed her lips together and looked at Madara, who was talking to Ciri and gently caressing her face — an act a bit strange coming from the man who always acted indifferent as he did, but Ciri didn't seem to mind.

"Alright. We'll ask her for help." Yennefer said as she approached the couple. "Look... I'm going to Aretuza. We'll have to ask for your rector's help." She announced. Which meant contacting Tissaia and revealing that Ciri was pregnant.

Madara raised an eyebrow upon hearing that. Ciri did the same, cautiously. "It's very difficult to develop, isn't it?" Ciri asked the obvious.

"Unfortunately, yes. We have no idea how to replicate the same magic the unicorn is performing — not for us humans with magic, using it... This is beyond our capabilities. We know the theory, perhaps. Tissaia may not be able to cast the same spell, but she might create something similar. If you can learn it, we could use the Djinn Madara mentioned to place that spell into your subconscious." Yennefer replied.

With that, Ciri nodded. Yennefer opened a portal, stepped through, and disappeared.

Triss remained, still wanting to gather more information and trying to help in her own way. After an hour, Yennefer returned, and the portal appeared with two people.

Yennefer returned with none other than Tissaia. As for the second woman, she had an intense and curious gaze — for obvious reasons.

"She's here." Yennefer said and looked at the rector. "Do you think you can do it?" she asked cautiously.

Tissaia analyzed the situation before looking at Madara. "Yennefer said that you can transfer information from what you see and can also transfer already-processed experiences to whoever you want, correct?" she asked. Her tone was restrained, almost cautious, as if wary of Madara's abilities, as always.

"Well, you probably already know the answer. Anyway, you have to let me enter your mind if you want to do what I think you intend with this..." Madara said, while Tissaia stared at him in silence for a few seconds.

"Alright..." Tissaia said, taking a deep breath.

Madara activated his Sharingan on Yennefer, taking the information from the attempts to create the spell. Then he did the same with Triss. He then faced Tissaia, while she prepared herself to have her mind invaded.

Madara used his Sharingan on her, entering her mind and quickly passing not only the information from Yennefer and Triss, but also from Ciri: the pain she had felt and a way to experience all of the girl's symptoms, the foal and the type of spell it used to try to disable the chakra levels, as well as the information that Madara himself had seen inside of Ciri — the energy harming her from within.

"Well, this is quite interesting." Tissaia said, her voice more lively now, as she looked at Madara with a certain admiration. He had essentially passed the direct experience to her. Now she had: Ciri's symptoms, Madara's perspective, the foal's magic, and the attempts of Yennefer and Triss — extremely skilled sorceresses — to try to replicate it so it could be used by humans.

"Give me one day. I can work on this spell." Tissaia said, and Madara simply nodded.

Tissaia was about to leave when a hand grabbed her arm. It was Yennefer, her violet eyes pleading. "Please..." Yennefer said.

Tissaia sighed. "It's alright. We already talked about this. I will keep the girl's pregnancy a secret." She answered, before disappearing through the portal.

No one said anything else. Madara took Ciri back to the room. Even though the girl seemed fine, Eira did not leave her side, keeping the horn glowing. In their room, they were more at ease, and even while sleeping, the foal still kept the horn active, softly illuminating the environment. They slept peacefully that night.

It was the next day that Tissaia returned. And she had succeeded — she was considered a Mage, a title reserved only for the most powerful sorcerers on the continent, of which you could count their number on one hand.

She had successfully created the spell. For human use.

Madara entered her mind once again. Even if Tissaia did not want him to, he ensured he would not access any information beyond what was necessary — after all, no sorcerer liked the idea of someone searching through their secrets, even more so when they involved secrets of entire kingdoms, political agreements, and dangerous knowledge. Though personal matters should be just as important. Madara only took what was necessary regarding the spell.

Once finished, he turned to Ciri and passed the spell to her, in a way that Ciri could learn. She absorbed it easily, much faster than anyone would have imagined her learning from Yennefer.

Ciri began to activate the spell using only elven words. She could feel — and maintain — control over their child's chakra.

This made her radiant. She literally jumped out of the bed, looking much better.

"Well, the problem is solved. Now let's get ready to retrieve the Djinn;" Madara said while thanking Tissaia.

"I did this as a favor for Yennefer, as agreed. You don't owe me anything." Tissaia said to Madara.

He nodded silently, while she disappeared into another portal.

"We need to reward Yennefer." Madara said. He shouldn't owe anything to anyone — not even to the woman who had feelings for him as if he were her son.

"Alright, we'll talk about it later." Ciri said, agreeing.

"Anyway, let's stay for one day to rest a bit first." He said.

"I'd like to stay in the castle. Is that alright, husband?" she asked.

Madara nodded.

That delighted Ciri, and the others were also excited when Ciri came running to their table at lunch. Triss, who should have already left yesterday, still enjoyed the day with her, along with Yennefer.

After lunch, the women began to leave. "Madara." Geralt called, after seeing the girls walk away, so they could talk. Madara looked at him.

"Let me guess... you want to go tomorrow?" he asked.

"Yes. I want to make sure everything goes perfectly well." Geralt replied.

"Alright, no problem." Madara said, and Dandelion began talking about court gossip before starting to play something. In the end, they opened Gwent and started to play.

A few hours passed, and Ciri seemed quite interested in the adventure to find the Djinn that they would undertake the next day.

"So you and Yennefer were bound through a Djinn, correct?" Ciri asked shyly, while Yennefer looked at her, surprised. They had left the tower where they had been having tea and discussing the care Ciri should take. Now they were walking through the castle.

"Basically yes. Our relationship is a bit strange." Yennefer said, while Triss seemed very interested in the conversation.

"You don't sound very happy." Ciri noticed the tone in Yennefer's voice. Meanwhile, Eira was beside her, with Ciri gently petting him, and the foal accepting it gladly. His horn was no longer glowing — Ciri had the spell activated on her own.

"Actually... sometimes I wonder if we would be together without the connection the Djinn created between us." Yennefer said.

"But that connection bound you anyway. And you don't seem unhappy with it." Ciri argued. Yennefer sighed.

"That's true... I can't complain. But there is still a seed of doubt. Something I try to ignore." She said honestly.

"And what if it happened with two people who already loved each other? If the Djinn bound them, they would always remember one another, wouldn't they? They would be united forever?" Ciri asked suddenly, as they reached the edge of the castle, overlooking Hjalmar.

"Why are you asking that?" Yennefer raised an eyebrow at the girl.

Ciri opened a smile.

"Nothing." She said, but it was clearly suspicious.

Yennefer exchanged a look with Triss.

Suddenly, Ciri lifted her gaze, as if she sensed something, and became curious, using the spell to listen to more distant things.

"Something is happening. On the other side. Madara is involved." She said, already feeling it.

"Let's go." She requested, and the sorceresses had no other choice but to follow the energetic young girl.

Ciri ran through the corridors and went down to the castle gate, where they heard a man shouting. Soon they found a crowd exclaiming.

"Wait... what is my husband doing?" Ciri asked, though the tone on the word husband came out full of admiration, as if she liked it.

In the center of that whole crowd, Madara was standing beside a blue-skinned giant more than 4 meters tall, but thin. A huge piece of wood was in his hand, while in front of him stood Hjalmar. Crach's son raised his hands with an axe, while everyone was excited:

"I'm going to defeat the terrible giant like a true man of Skellige!" He announced.

Ciri teleported, appearing beside Madara, ignoring the reaction of the people, and turned her gaze to her husband.

"What is this?" She asked, although completely fascinated by the scene.

"Well, the fool wanted to wager his ship with me. It was his turn to propose a bet. He didn't want Gwent, he wanted something more serious..." Madara began. "He asked about the giant, I told him I had defeated it and that, if he wanted to fight it and lost, he would have to give me his ship." Madara explained calmly, while the giant remained there, staring at Hjalmar — calm due to the effect of the Sharingan.

When the news spread that the giant would fight the man, immediately all the men from the castle and the village gathered there. Even King Bran was present, admiring the giant like everyone — a legend of Skellige — right there, which gave even more credit to Madara, for he had conquered the giant more than a month ago. Those who doubted now had no more voice.

"Well, let's begin!" Crach's son prepared himself while the giant struck the piece of wood on the ground before him.

"Hjalmar, the Giant Slayer! Hjalmar, the Giant Slayer!" The people around began to shout, cheering for the man.

Madara smiled slightly, and with a serious gaze, he held Ciri by the waist, moving them a bit back to watch how the fight would end.

"Let us begin then!" King Bran shouted.

In the next moment, Hjalmar charged forward, while the giant grabbed a large log and hurled it at him. Hjalmar quickly ducked, but the giant was not foolish — using his free leg, he kicked the man hard, striking him in the abdomen before he could react. Hjalmar was thrown back, rolling several meters across the ground, groaning, until his body simply stopped.

The axe fell from his hand. Hjalmar fainted.

"Well... it seems we won the ship." Ciri heard her husband say, and she laughed. King Bran raised his hands.

"Long live the Conquered Giant!" He shouted, and everyone followed.

Ciri saw Crach with his arms crossed beside Cerys, who was laughing at her brother, despite always worrying about him. The giant, after knocking him down, did nothing else — he simply stopped. This made the scene even more comical.

Crach only shook his head, disappointed in his son.
