Chapter 391 - Chapter 391 - Turbulence on the Continent.

[Chapter Size: 2900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Kovir.

...

...

The woman kept running through the forest until a gigantic shadow immediately blocked out the late afternoon sun, making her choke as she looked up at the enormous figure.

The complete Susano'o crashed down onto the ground right in front of her, preventing her from continuing to run toward where she was trying to escape.

Madara immediately moved the Susano'o, and the gigantic sword, already drawn from its sheath, came down in a vertical slash aimed directly at her.

She barely had time to see the blade rushing toward her. The next instant, a massive explosion engulfed the forest, creating a line of destruction, annihilating trees and rocks, carving through the ground in its path before striking a mountain and destroying part of it.

Madara jumped down from the crystal Susano'o, landing amid the destruction where the vampire should have been.

He landed as the dust dispersed with nothing more than a movement of Wind Chakra, and all he saw were scattered pieces of the vampire's body.

The main part was there. She only had the upper half of her body left, with only one arm remaining intact, while part of her head had also disappeared.

Even so... She started laughing.

"Hahahaha..." She was still alive, even though part of her brain had been destroyed. After all, only the left half of her head above the eyes remained.

"You bastard... What the hell are you?" she asked as she watched the Susano'o vanish into dissipating energy above them.

For the first time, there was genuine despair in her voice. Even after realizing she couldn't hurt him, she had still underestimated him.

"No one special." Madara merely shrugged. It wasn't as if she needed to know.

"I'm immortal. I can't die like this..." she said, laughing.

Madara simply raised one hand, and her body was caught by an invisible force and began to float.

Using the Deva Path, he pulled the vampire directly toward him, completely catching her off guard.

She had already lost. She just couldn't imagine what the human intended to do. But the next instant, her eyes widened in shock as she realized her soul was leaving her body.

Madara simply used the Human Path. With a single movement, he completely tore out her soul, killing her on the spot. Even for an immortal being.

Without wasting any time, he raised his other hand.

Ignoring the explosions that were still happening at the castle, Madara used the Naraka Path, and a gigantic creature wreathed in flames emerged from the ground, opening its mouth.

Madara threw the vampire's torso inside, then her legs, and finally her remaining arm.

The strange creature with rocky flames and Rinnegan eyes began chewing the vampire's severed body whole.

A few moments later... It spat the woman back out. Her body had been completely restored, as if she had never suffered any injuries.

Madara grabbed her and began forming several hand seals before driving a kunai with a seal into her abdomen, while countless lines began emerging from the ground.

He wrapped her in sheets of paper, completely sealing her body. Right afterward, an explosion of paper erupted.

A new Edo Tensei had been created.

This time, he used the vampire's own body instead of an ordinary sacrifice.

Lady Morgana, as the vampires called her, blinked a few times before looking at her hands and then at Madara standing before her. She knew she had died at his hands when that man had pulled out her soul.

"What...?" she murmured, completely stunned.

Little by little, she began to understand what had happened. She was alive, but at the same time... She was dead.

She was still an Ancient Vampire; she could feel it. She merely looked at Madara. She didn't even have time to say anything else.

Madara formed a single hand seal. At that very moment, she was pulled into a coffin that emerged from the ground behind her.

The lid closed on its own. Soon afterward, the coffin sank into the earth.

"I'll use you later," Madara said with a mocking smile. He had obtained an Edo Tensei of an Ancient Vampire.

Turning his attention back to the battlefield on the castle's side, about 500 meters from where he stood, he saw several vampires beginning to flee the castle.

They had probably seen the Susano'o and panicked after it destroyed part of the forest and a mountain. Madara had only used his 100-meter Susano'o, considering that he could now make it grow to 600 meters.

There was a problem with so many higher vampires escaping, since the ordinary vampires still couldn't move under the sun, even though it was already late afternoon. Not even the Edo Tensei users could chase all of them at the same time.

Madara merely sighed before creating several clones. Each one shot off in a different direction, pursuing the escaping higher vampires, while the Edo Tensei eliminated the last remaining ordinary vampires.

Those his soldiers couldn't catch were swiftly executed by Madara himself. Blood streamed from the eyes of the Wood Clones, and the black flames of Amaterasu consumed each of the vampires before they could evade them.

It didn't matter how fast they ran. Nor if they tried to extinguish the flames with wind, earth, or water. The black fire continued burning until it reduced them completely to ashes.

After that, Madara returned to the castle.

He found the king hiding in a corner. "Honestly, I thought the vampires would kill you. But that's not what happened," Madara said.

The king merely stared at him, utterly terrified by everything that had happened.

Madara simply drew a sword and, with a single strike, severed his neck. The head vanished from his hand at the very same instant.

He teleported it directly into the throne room. Kovir needed to learn that its king was dead.

He didn't even stay to see the reaction. His clones, who were still throughout the kingdom, would certainly pass their memories on to him later.

Madara looked over the completely devastated castle. Towers had collapsed. Half of the fortress had been destroyed because of the battle.

As the Edo Tensei users returned, Madara began closing the coffins one by one. Every vampire and lamia had been killed.

He had simply exterminated an entire vampire clan just to test his soldiers.

When he was finished, he went to the castle's treasury. There he found a lot... A whole lot of gold.

The vampires hadn't bothered hiding that wealth anywhere else.

After all, who would have the courage to invade a castle filled with vampires just to rob them? They possessed far more gold than Madara had found in the king's treasury.

It wasn't surprising. After all, they had spent centuries wandering the world. Perhaps even other worlds.

According to the words of that Ancient Vampire from the games, all vampires had originally come from a world of their own, and there was a portal in Toussaint...

In any case... Even though gold was no longer something particularly important to Madara. He possessed millions of coins, maps, and even worlds where gold was as abundant as sand.

Even so, gold was gold. And it was better to have the option of using already minted or ancient coins. Madara collected everything before leaving the place.

By then, it was already night. As he walked, he thought about what he would do next.

Redania had already been dealt with, and so had Kovir.

Surely, two kings dying in less than a single day would plunge the entire continent into chaos.

Madara wanted to see the Black Army south of Temeria trying to advance northward. He wasn't satisfied with Nilfgaard's troops in the slightest.

Especially when they had come so close to where his son was, since he was in Temeria.

As he reflected, he considered whether he should go to Skellige in search of Yennefer... Whether he should return to Toussaint... Or simply attack the Black Army and destroy it once again, just as he had done years ago.

After thinking for a while and watching the night fall completely, he decided to head for Toussaint.

Ciri certainly wanted to stay with Aren. Now that they had been reunited, there was no longer any reason to hide the boy. Before going to Toussaint, he stopped by the Temple of Melitele.

He greeted Hilda, and soon afterward, he saw Aren running toward him.

"Daddy!" He played with his son for a while. He told him they were going to Toussaint, and Aren invited Eira as well.

At that point, there was no longer any reason to hide Aren's existence from everyone. They would be with him from then on, and there was always the temple to hide the boy. As long as he wasn't seen there, they could always take him somewhere safe.

Madara took a bath, bringing Aren along with him. They returned to the temple and dressed the boy in clothes that would please his mother. After saying goodbye to Hilda, Madara, Eira, and Aren disappeared using the Hiraishin.

All of them appeared in the castle garden, with Madara using the Hiraishin mark on Ciri's body as his destination. She was talking to Geralt at that moment, and as soon as they appeared, everyone turned to look.

Ciri, however, was already smiling. She had already seen that moment in one of her visions of the future.

"Madara... You've finally arrived," she said, and immediately afterward, she held out her arms for her son and hugged him.

"Look, Geralt." Madara greeted him, while Geralt looked in surprise at Madara and the enormous unicorn that had appeared alongside him.

Some people near the garden looked over in surprise at their sudden appearance and at Ciri's shout. The white horse with a horn also drew their attention.

They, however, simply ignored them. Madara turned his attention back to Geralt and extended his hand. The witcher returned the greeting, taking Madara's hand.

"It's been a while," said the White Wolf.

"Now you're Geralt of Rivia," Madara remarked.

"Yeah... Long story. And you kept your word about taking care of her," Geralt said.

"You don't need to say that. She's my wife. That's only natural," Madara replied calmly.

Geralt simply nodded, watching Ciri laugh as she played with Aren. Then Geralt turned his attention to the unicorn.

"And this one has grown a lot... Ciri told me about her."

"Greetings, Witcher..." Eira said, surprising Geralt a little, though he soon nodded. He should have expected that...

A short while later, Aren, in Ciri's arms as she complimented his clothes and said they were adorable, walked over to Geralt.

"Hi," he said shyly.

"Hey there. How have you been, little guy?" Geralt asked.

"Hilda always takes care of me. But Daddy and Mommy came back. I'm happy about that," Aren replied with a silly smile.

Geralt smiled faintly.

Ciri scolded him before turning her attention back to the open space before them.

"Look at this place, Aren. We're in Toussaint."

The boy began admiring the entire landscape.

Geralt turned his attention back to Madara.

"Ciri said you went north to deal with the situation in Kovir."

Before Madara could answer, Ciri spoke again.

"Do you already know that news of the King of Redania's death has reached here?"

"Assire var Anahid seemed quite agitated, and Emhyr summoned her to the capital." She paused briefly.

"I also received word that the King of Kovir was found dead in the throne room. No one knows exactly what happened. The Lodge of Sorceresses is also trying to contact Tissaia, Triss, and Ida," she finished.

"So you already know what happened..." Madara shrugged.

"You encountered the Ancient Vampire?" Ciri asked in a serious tone.

Madara nodded.

"It wasn't just one. It was an entire vampire clan. Around two hundred of them. One hundred and fifty common vampires, fifty higher vampires, thirty-six lamias, and one Ancient Vampire."

He explained while looking out over Toussaint's nighttime scenery.

Geralt looked visibly disturbed upon hearing those numbers. Ciri also looked at him with concern.

Eira said nothing.

"Don't worry. I exterminated them all," Madara replied simply.

Geralt looked even more shaken after hearing that. Ciri merely placed a hand on her forehead and sighed.

"Daddy fought vampires!?" Aren asked immediately, having listened carefully to the conversation. His eyes sparkled with excitement.

Ciri's eyes widened.

"Be careful what you say in front of our son. Especially when you use the word 'exterminated.'"

Madara merely smiled.

"More or less. I only truly fought the Ancient Vampire. The rest was dealt with by a few soldiers I summoned."

Ciri already understood what he meant. She had seen him use Edo Tensei in other worlds.

"Anyway... What did you do with the king?" Geralt asked.

"The same fate as the others," Madara replied.

Ciri sighed once again.

"Two kings in a single day, Madara. No one on the continent is going to stay idle after this."

"We can handle it," he replied.

Ciri simply nodded.

Geralt, on the other hand, didn't like the indifference the two of them showed toward the deaths of two kings in a single day.

"You should be more careful," he said.

"Anyway, how are things around here?" Madara asked, completely ignoring Geralt's comment.

He wanted information, since his clones still hadn't sent their reports and memories back. He also needed to know how their estate was doing.

"Don't worry about that. The Duchess maintained our estate all these years. She paid to keep the staff herself. She said it was an investment."

Madara nodded.

"All right. We'll reimburse her with interest later."

Ciri smiled.

"That's fair."

"Besides..." Madara continued. "I looted the king's castle and the vampires' lair as well. I got about two million gold coins from the vampires. Can you believe that?"

Geralt choked.

That was an unimaginable amount of gold. The largest sum he had ever possessed in his life had been around fifteen thousand coins. Even then, a tax collector had started chasing him in Kaedwen back then.

He could never imagine what it meant to possess two million gold coins, especially when most contracts paid only a few hundred at best. Sometimes he risked his life for fifty gold coins...

"Anyway... So we'll be spending the night at our vineyard?" Madara asked.

Ciri nodded.

"The Duchess invited us to spend the night here. But honestly, the vineyard sounds like a much better option."

"I agree."

As if summoned by the conversation, the Duchess appeared shortly afterward.

Some guards had already informed her of Madara's arrival.

She smiled when she saw him, and she was also both surprised and captivated by the unicorn. She loved horses, and seeing such a legendary creature was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for her.

Then she turned her attention to the child in Ciri's arms.

She had seen Aren a few times before. Back when he had been born, Madara and Ciri would visit their estate, and the Duchess would join them. Madara would always erase part of her memories, hiding Aren's existence from everyone.

After greeting the Duchess, they headed to the vineyard, where they would spend the night.

The following morning, Madara took Aren back to the Temple in Temeria. It was still the safest place for the boy.

Madara returned to Toussaint to pick up Ciri.

"Are you really going to do this?" Geralt asked, frowning.

"Why not? We're already causing enough chaos across the continent. A little more won't make much of a difference..." Madara said.

"Besides, it's better if you don't come with us. You're in the middle of an investigation, aren't you?" Ciri said.

Geralt remained silent. The two of them intended to head north and confront Nilfgaard's Black Army itself.

Besides, Geralt was, by coincidence... dealing with a vampire problem in Toussaint. A vampire was attacking knights.

Madara knew about that situation. He just hadn't expected it to happen so soon. In the game's timeline, it was supposed to happen later. In any case, if things became too serious, he would help Geralt.

He would also have the opportunity to fight another Ancient Vampire.

He had already fought one of them. Perhaps he would pit the other one against the one in Toussaint, since he knew exactly where he was.

Although Madara hoped that wouldn't be necessary. After all, that course of events ended with the Duchess's death. Not that it would really happen now, since they were in this world.

"Did you know Geralt once met that vampire we saw south of Cintra, Regis?" Ciri asked.

Madara merely nodded, pretending to be surprised.

"Oh, really?"

"He's living in a cemetery in Toussaint right now," Geralt explained.

Ciri began telling the story Geralt had shared with her the previous night. They had met on the road shortly before arriving at Rivia. Regis had said that Madara had mentioned that one day he would meet his friends. Ciri wasn't surprised by that, considering he knew this world's original timeline.

It was while traveling with Regis and a group of dwarves that the whole incident occurred, in which Geralt helped Queen Meve fight the enemy army and ended up receiving the title of Geralt of Rivia.

In any case, Madara and Ciri left Toussaint.

They headed straight for Temeria. All the enemy forces were concentrated in that region, fighting against the resistance the kingdom had assembled to deal with the invaders.

Part of Nilfgaard's army was advancing through southern Temeria, while another force was attempting to invade Lyria and Rivia. Meanwhile, farther east, Brugge had already fallen, and the troops were preparing to invade Verden.
