Chapter 30 - The Pack Grows

Authors Note: bit of a back step from New Orleans politics.

Zach

I follow after Klaus after speaking to Hayley and Elijah.

After a few minutes I catch up with him before he reaches the plantation house. "Hey!" I call out to him, a bit wary of his current mood.

He stops and speaks but doesn't look at me. "I'm sorry." I say first. I see him spin on his heels at vampire speed.

"What?" He asks me.

I respond, "I'm sorry. I can't imagine that being easy back there, being accused of something like that I mean." I say slowly walking toward him.

"What do you know?" He asks me in a huff.

I put my hands up, "I'm just trying to be there for you okay? Call it one wolf wanting to look out for another. Call it someone who wants to offer an olive branch. I don't know who I look like that you used to know, but you need to get over that because we will be working toward a common goal soon."

"What do you mean?" He asks me skeptical.

I sigh, deciding to give klaus a bit of information. "I plan on involving myself in New Orleans soon. I've merely been watching and learning for the time being, but make no mistake my pack and I will be carving our own place within this city. And why not talk to you about how to go about that?" I ask.

I see klaus smile, "I knew you'd come around. Come on. We should start with who you look like. We'll go inside, I'll need blood for this."

I nod and ask, "you wouldn't happen to have any vampire blood laying around would you?"

He looks at me quizzically, I speak an answer before he can ask the question. "I and my pack drink vampire blood like vampires drink humans. It's actually quite tasty."

Klaus chuckled, "unfortunately we don't have an spare vampire blood. However, I have enough bourbon to make it a bit better. Come, I find myself interested in how exactly you are what you are." He says beginning to walk inside. I follow, going through what to divulge and what to keep close to the chest.

After meeting with Klaus

Stepping back inside I began prepping my things. The entire pack is in Tennessee already awaiting my arrival. After a few seconds of blurring around the house to get what I needed for a week or so, I blur back out of the house and walk to my bike.

Throwing my black helmet on I start her up and speed off down the road toward the next member of the Cobalt Pack. The full moon is in 4 days. Enough time to get a read on the man and prepare him for what's to come.

With that in mind I shift up one more time and launch down the interstate.

1 Day Later

Pulling up outside the old southern style home overlooking a huge lake, I smell my pack members are here plus two more people. Two? I thought we agreed on ONE.

My anger at being fooled comes out in a roar that has everyone of my beta blurring to stand before me before the echo of my call faded into the Forrest.

Derek speaks, "Calm down Zach. Sam just got back from deployment. None of us, not even Dean knew he'd be here."

'Sam, Dean. At least I have names,' i think to myself taking a breath before speaking, "And where are these two you thought would both accept the bite and be accepted by me?"

They all share a look before Derek speaks again, "I don't know. We're just doing what you said, trusting our instincts."

I sigh, deciding not to say another word until I meet the two. I walk past my pack toward the house right as two blonde haired men step out of the door.

The first one is younger, still in his army tan shirt with the U.S.M.C logo on his heart. He looks weary and battle hardened.

The second one is slower, walking out leaning on a cane. He couldn't be more than 5 years older than his brother but her he was, barely able to get around.

Derek speaks from behind me, "hey guys, this is my friend Zach. The one I told you about. The one who could help you Dean."

Both men haven't taken their eyes from me. Being familiar with war I assume they, even as humans, can tell somethings off.

"He's right. However, I'd like to know how much he explained to you." I say looking to the short haired man named Dean.

He takes a couple slow steps and sits on the stairs, "he said you could help me walk again. Showed me what that means."

I look to Derek and see him shrug. Our mental link comes to life as he speaks, 'sorry. Had to give him some proof. He's military, fairy tales are hard to believe.'

I give a nod, understanding his reasoning before speaking to him, 'and the younger one?'

Derek sighs, 'he's recently retired. Didn't go all the way to spec ops like Dean. However, I showed him lastnight. He said as long as Dean does it he will too. They're both quiet. That was what made me think they'd be good.'

Again I give a mental nod before breaking the connection. "So, Dean and Sam, you say you're ready for all that being a werewolf entails. But allow me to explain to you the new war you'll be walking into…

After a few hours of explanation and other questions about their work, I decided I did like them. Derek was right. Perfect choices. Kyle was enthusiastic about being taught how to fight by them, I myself would like some teaching in that regard. I can punch and kick, but not truly fight. All my fights so far have been won on overwhelming strength or retreat.

So, after eating dinner and drinking a beer or two I speak to the brothers. "Are you ready?"

Both of them look to eachother, then back to Derk, Kyle, Katie, and finally myself. Dean speaks, "let's do it."

I nod. "Tomorrow I will bite you. You'll probably sleep until it's time to transform. Sleep well tonight. I'm off to find some food." I say, my eyes becoming red as I blur away I to the night.

Tomorrow, the pack grows.
