Georgie's POV

"After you finished singing, Kayla grabbed your arm and dragged you away," Veronica said with a sharp scoff, "And all you did was wave at the crowd and laugh like nothing happened!"

I've been drunk before in my past life—but never like this. This was a total blackout. It felt like... someone just unplugged the wires in my brain.

This body had never touched alcohol before. Maybe that's why. But it didn't feel like being drunk—it felt like being dropped from the sky.

Was the alcohol tolerance in this body that low? That might be it. After all, Georgie never drank, even though his dad always had a beer in hand.

Or... was it because I missed the taste of alcohol so much that I couldn't stop myself?

I don't know. But one thing is clear—I was completely wasted last night. The kind of drunk where you can't even remember what happened.

"Are you still mad at your family?" Veronica's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see her face, still filled with worry.

"No," I said, giving her a small smile. "Honestly, I think I just wanted to know what it felt like to get drunk." I said that to ease her worry.

Veronica studied my face for a moment, but I stood up and began walking away. "I'm going to shower. Join me if you want…" I said, turning to glance at her.

She let out a heavy sigh and stood up. "I don't want to play like that after you spent the night with another woman," she said, walking toward the door. "I know you didn't do anything with Kayla, but what you did still hurt me."

I let out a long breath as I watched her leave the room. No matter what I said, the fact that I had slept—just slept—with Kayla was enough to shatter Veronica's trust.

Even in my drunken state, I knew I had hurt her. I sighed again and headed to the bathroom. Washing my face and brushing my teeth felt like all I could handle right now.

That's when I realized… I was in a cheap motel. Kayla must've brought me here. Probably thinking we'd have some fun.

Once I was done, I stepped out and saw Kayla still standing in the hallway, staring blankly at the ceiling with a gloomy look on her face. The sound of my footsteps made her flinch. She turned to me with an awkward smile.

"Georgie…" she said, walking toward me. I could see it in her eyes—red and glossy. She was holding back tears.

Her cheek, red with a little hand print on it.

She stopped in front of me, and the moment our eyes met, the tears started to fall.

I sighed softly and placed a hand on her head.

"It's okay," I whispered.

She raised her trembling hands and grabbed onto my shirt, resting her head on my chest. I could feel her shaking.

Something definitely happened while I was unconscious. I could almost picture it—an argument between Kayla and Veronica.

"What happened?" I asked gently. The question made her body tense. She said nothing. The same girl who was bold enough to undress in front of me now couldn't even meet my eyes.

Such a drastic shift in her behavior. I could only guess what kind of fight she and Veronica had.

"Was it Veronica?" I asked. Again, her body trembled.

She still didn't answer. I just held her and ran my fingers through her hair, giving her space to calm down.

After a few minutes, her shaking started to fade.

"I'm sorry…" Kayla finally said, glancing up at me with that same awkward smile.

"What happened?" I asked again, locking eyes with her.

"I'm sorry, Georgie. It was my fault," she said, looking away.

I stayed silent. She gently pulled out of my embrace and leaned against the wall, eyes fixed on the floor.

"The reason you got drunk... it was because of me."

I wasn't surprised. I had already suspected that much. Was I mad? No.

I performed in a honky tonk, a bar where everyone drinks. So of course I was bound to get splashed by that mess too.

"You remember the bottle I gave you?" she asked. My memory was fuzzy, but something about it did feel familiar.

"Didn't I not drink it?" I asked, unsure of what I remembered.

"You did. Just a little. You realized I had swapped the water for whiskey," she said, turning her face away.

"…And a little Benadryl."

My eyes widened.

"...You drugged me?" I asked, my voice shaking.

I saw her entire body tremble as she hugged herself tightly, clearly terrified.

"Tell me," I said, calm but firm. I wasn't going to let her run away from this. I looked her straight in the eyes.

(Note: This is a fictional scenario. I got the information from ChatGPT and do not endorse or promote this behavior in real life. Do NOT imitate it.)

Benadryl is the brand name for diphenhydramine, an over-the-counter antihistamine used for allergies, motion sickness, insomnia, and cold symptoms.

It is legal and easily accessible.

However, when combined with alcohol, it can have a dangerously sedating effect—even in small doses. Both substances depress the central nervous system and impair memory by affecting the hippocampus.

"I… I added a little Benadryl to your drink. Just one tablet—I crushed it. I thought… maybe it'd help you loosen up, laugh more, like everyone else was," Kayla said, her voice trembling with fear.

Tears welled in her eyes again.

"Why?" I asked softly, but my gaze remained locked on her.

Kayla didn't answer. Just silent tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Why?!" I shouted, slamming my fist against the wall.

"BECAUSE YOU SEE ME LIKE A SISTER!!! I HATE IT!!"

Her scream echoed down the hallway, triggered by the loud sound of my fist hitting the wall. She immediately covered her mouth in shock, her eyes wide with horror.

Her words left me speechless. What the hell is she talking about?! That was all I could think.

My mouth opened, but no words came out. I just stared at her, awkward and stunned.

She lowered her head in shame. Her ears turned red, but tears continued to fall, soaking the floor.

"Pl… please, don't hate me…" Kayla whispered.

I sighed and rubbed my temples, trying to process what had just happened.

What do I even do with her?

I know… she likes me.

Of course I know.

But she was right about one thing—

I've always seen Kayla as a little sister.

Kayla's POV – At the Bar

"What's going on with Georgie?" James asked, eyeing him as he placed his guitar down without even acknowledging him.

James was right—something was definitely off with Georgie tonight. He wasn't enjoying himself like he usually did.

"What do you think is going on?" James asked again, turning to me. I shook my head silently, unable to give him—or anyone else—an answer.

"Georgie!" I called out to him. He smiled at me like he always did.

"What's up?" he said casually, but I just stared back at him, trying to read him. There was definitely something going on.

James and the others tried to make small talk with him, but I could tell Georgie was covering up whatever he was feeling behind that smile.

He looked confused when he noticed I was still staring at him.

"What?" he asked, chuckling a bit.

"What happened?" I finally asked, knowing he wouldn't open up unless I pushed.

"What do you mean?" he tilted his head slightly, dodging the question.

I scoffed and walked away. Just like I thought—he wasn't going to talk about it.

I went to put down my things and decided to do something that would make me feel better. And yes, that included alcohol.

Maybe it was a mistake, but I just wanted Georgie to have fun again. Edo's words were still stuck in my head, haunting me.

I pulled a pill out of my bag and headed to the restroom. No one saw me take it, and I rushed into the bathroom. But just as I stepped out, I ran into the last person I wanted to see.

"Kayla," Miss Fenley greeted me with a smile.

Immediately, I hid the bottle in my hand behind my back.

Wait! I screamed internally as I realized what I'd just done. I'm not in school anymore! I reminded myself. She's not even my teacher now!

I let out a long breath and reluctantly showed her the bottle I'd been hiding. She was still smiling.

"What? Do you still think I'm your teacher?" Miss Fenley chuckled. I groaned and looked away.

"But—I am still an adult here," she added, her voice suddenly firm.

"It's… for Georgie." I blurted out, using his name as a shield.

That caught her attention. Her expression shifted as she stared at me more seriously.

But using Georgie's name worked like a charm. "Oh," Miss Fenley said, looking away. "It's just water, right?" she asked pointedly.

I blinked rapidly.

"Yes! Just sparkling water." I replied, nodding enthusiastically.

She nodded back and turned around.

"Well, I hope Georgie's having fun tonight… He's got a lot on his mind." Her voice was soft, but I heard it—loud and clear.

I shook my head. I couldn't believe she'd let it slide—what I was doing for Georgie.

I headed back and found him chatting with James and the others. I walked up to him with a big smile. I noticed from the corner of my eye that James seemed a bit uneasy. We'd been friends long enough to read each other's expressions.

"Georgie! Here's your drink," I said, ignoring James and Edo's looks. I saw James try to stop me, but Georgie had already taken the drink.

"Oh, thanks, Kayla," he said, taking a sip—

Only to immediately spit it out in surprise.

"…." He stared at me, speechless. I just stuck my tongue out at him, trying to be cute.

"You should be careful when she smiles like that, Georgie." James muttered, exhaling sharply.

His comment irritated me. I shot him a deadly glare, which he returned without backing down.

"No need to fight…" Georgie sighed and handed me the bottle.

"Can you bring me some water now?" he asked, smiling again.

"….."

Now I understood what Edo meant.

That smile… The way he forgave me so quickly—it gnawed at me.

"Alright," I said after a few seconds of silence, finally nodding.

It was crawling under my skin. I hated it.

This time, I brought him actual water—but I poured a tiny bit from the bottle into the glass just to mess with him a little.

"Here you go, Georgie!" I said, handing him the glass.

He looked at me again, speechless.

"Oh," I said, straightening my expression, "Here's your drink, Georgie." I repeated, this time without a smile.

He sighed.

"Huh… what the hell…" he muttered and took the glass. He downed the water in one gulp and looked back at me.

"Happy?"

"So happy!" I beamed and grabbed his arm, dragging him to the bar, ignoring the others—especially James and Edo, who were trying to stop me.

3rd Person POV

"That's how you get drunk," Kayla muttered without even looking at Georgie. Guilt and shame crept into her heart. But more than anything, it was fear—deep, suffocating fear.

Georgie just stared at her in stunned silence.

"Do… you hate me?" Kayla asked, tugging on Georgie's shirt as if trying to stop him from walking away. She was holding on—begging him not to leave.

Georgie sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"I hate that you did this…but," he said.

The words made her tremble. She still had her head down, too afraid to look at him.

"I forgive you," he added softly, pulling her into a hug.

"Re… really?" Kayla whispered, tears streaming down her face.

She had tested him—pushed him to the limit—and he'd rejected her.

He rejected her body.

Even under the influence of alcohol, his eyes had remained warm.

After Georgie sang 'Human', Kayla had pulled him aside and tried to… do what men often do to drunk women. You know.

But Georgie had shaken his head and said no—even when she was completely undressed. Naked in front of him.

All he did was hold her close, kiss her forehead, rub her back, and fall asleep with her in his arms.

Kayla felt like she'd failed.

"Yes," Georgie said, still gently stroking her back, a smile on his face.

"But I don't like it, alright? I don't want you doing that again."

This time, their eyes met.

She could tell from his expression—he wouldn't take no for an answer.

Kayla nodded and wiped her tears away.

"That's my little girl!" Georgie laughed, like a dad scolding his mischievous daughter.

"….." Kayla looked annoyed. She narrowed her eyes at him.

"I want to ask you something," she said, making him stop laughing and look at her curiously. "Why'd you slap my ass if you're not into my body?" she asked, smirking at him.

"….."

Georgie didn't answer. He just looked away while she kept grinning at him.
