Chapter 14 - Chapter: 14

Notice:

Guys, I haven't posted for a while because I've been experiencing a lot of body aches. To top it off, the teeth on the right side of my mouth started hurting a lot, to the point of giving me headaches.

The first part, around 650 words, is from the fic, but the other part I created while watching Rick and Morty and was inspired by the pain and loneliness that Rick feels, tell me if you liked it.

For this short story, I chose to narrate it as if the protagonist were writing a diary.

"I heard the transfer exam is very difficult. You must be great if you passed."

"If you studied so much, you must be aiming for a job in the government. Since every student already has the promise of a job in the imperial capital."

"Yes, I want to guide society towards a better future, in other words, I want to become the high priest." – In his mind, he completed – "of course, in the religion of my God."

Surprised, Hatori Junko spoke to the high priest aloud, wanting to confirm if she had heard correctly. With her exclamation, the protagonist, who was in the same carriage of the magic train, looked curiously at them, thinking there was someone else his age who wanted to become the high priest.

But, seeing who the person was, he once again felt fear. Something inside him, warning him to run as fast as possible.

Not knowing what to do, he stood up as quietly as possible and headed towards the other carriage, not wanting to stay in the same room for long. Not knowing why. He felt that if he stayed close to Renji, he would change. And that scared him.

Seeing from the corner of his eye the protagonist leaving the carriage, Renji smiled at Hatori, while she spoke of how difficult it is to become the high priest and that much determination was needed, always living on the right side, because even throwing a piece of paper on the street could prevent him from becoming the high priest.

Due to her sense of honor and duty, upon seeing a young man her age with such a dream, she felt obliged to help him achieve his dream.

"If what you say is true, then I must help him. As a daughter of the Suharaist family, tasked with protecting the empire, I must dedicate myself to justice and honor. And even if people currently laugh at these principles. I am prepared to give my life for my ideals."

As she spoke, Hatori Juko took her short sword and asked Renji to hold it to perform the friendship ceremony used by her sect. Also explaining what would happen if one of them betrayed the oath.

Renji, taking advantage of this oath, subtly manipulated her to make an oath. Not of friendship, but of loyalty to the religion of his God. With the oath, Hatori Junko's mind transformation.

All her ideals, beliefs, and desires were transformed to serve the religion of chaos. Causing her body to also change and, although she still has the same appearance, she is no longer human but a servant. Creatures that exist to obey the orders of the numbered members of the religion of chaos.

As this was the first time he had created a servant, Renji carefully observed the entire process. When he was still in the HOTD world, he had the idea of transforming Saeko into such a being, but for various reasons, he thought it best to deal with the protagonist first.

Mainly due to her personality, which could generate a very powerful servant. Who would be taken by a higher-ranking numbered member, which would hinder his plans. Even if for her to be taken, the numbered member would have to pay a high price.

After arriving at school, Hatori Junko, who was now a servant of chaos, acted as if nothing had changed to avoid unwanted attention and to help him manipulate the people around the protagonist without anyone else knowing.

Her first target is Soga Keena, the protagonist's most important heroine, the current woman who shares his existence with the Law of Identity. If Hatori Junko manages to manipulate her and remove her from the protagonist's path, Renji may be able to transform her into a servant of chaos, causing him to automatically conquer this world.

Even if he can't live in this world for long. When the mission is over, he can exchange this world for great rewards.

Day 1095.

Today it's been three years! I remember it like it was yesterday.

When the first rays, which should break the darkness of the night, did not rise on the horizon, illuminating the world.

Right, I shouldn't try to sound cultured here, it doesn't matter anymore… anyway. We should have realized it sooner! The signs were there. Or rather, we already knew, but we didn't want to believe it. The end of the world was predicted a long time ago.

Today I live in a dark hell! For over a year and a half, I haven't seen another human. The only other living beings that I unfortunately still see in the city where I live and that I haven't left for a long time are deformed beasts, which once were animals, taken from the natural environment by us humans and used for different purposes.

Just yesterday. While trying to collect resources in an electronics store in the northeast sector of the city, I ended up attracting the attention of a beast that was once a simple domestic cat. The beast had black fur, thirty-centimeter claws, a muscular body with red eyes scattered across it, and a tail that looked more like a spear.

To escape it, I had to use the only C4 banana I had left, forcing it to interrupt its hunt for me, both due to the rubble that blocked its passage and, mainly, because it knew that the noise of the explosion would attract the attention of one of the most terrifying creatures in the city. The rats.

Although the cat beast is larger than a tiger and much stronger, being surrounded by thousands of voracious rats the size of dogs is a certain death sentence for any terrestrial beast I have ever encountered.

My luck is that these rat beasts have very bad eyesight and an even worse sense of smell, moving guided mainly by sound. However, once one of the rat beasts locates prey, it will warn the other members of the horde, and even with their bad eyesight, they are not blind.

Thinking a bit now… I don't know why I still write about my day. If ——— If only I had the courage. I will join you.

Day 1096.

Yesterday, I ended up being very sensitive, as it was the day that marked 3 years since this hell began I ended up remembering certain people from my past. People I lost in ways I prefer to forget…

But back to why I went to the electronics store. I finally did it. After studying for a long time, I managed to create a combustion power generator that generates enough energy for me to grow my own food.

Now, the only thing I have to do is install the lamps in the stadium and plant. I can even taste the peas, the radish, the lettuce. And I can't forget the wheat. Man, and I swear, even if I have to destroy this damn city, I will capture a cow beast.

Excuse me! I lost my train of thought in the previous paragraph. It's just that I really miss eating bread, cake, and all the other delicacies that can be made with wheat. But being realistic. Even if I miraculously managed to capture a cow beast, I would also have to go after a chicken beast. And those damn things now fly.

However, their eggs are delicious. Six months ago, I managed to sneak into a chicken's nest and steal some eggs, and my God, it was the most delicious thing I've ever eaten in my life. Unfortunately, chickens are one of the only creatures that even the rats are afraid of.

Honestly, I don't know where I got the courage to try to steal eggs from a chicken. Man, even though the chickens are still the same size, they fly at high speeds and spit fire. Fire, man. If I had one, man, I would sleep smiling and wake up dancing.
