Chapter 21 - twenty first tale

The Garden of Life

It's such beautiful and sacred place within the great palace of Acanthaea, the Garden of Life is said to be older than the great palace itself. According to legend, this was the first teardrops of Janus the creator fell giving birth to the syprha race. While scholars still debate the truth of that claim, what is beyond doubt is the garden's long and storied history — having borne witness to both the joy and sorrow of Pandoraia's first and final days.

It was here that Lady Cerecriana of House Aurex wed Prince Leondies XI, heir to the throne — one of the last great royal unions of the empire. Yet the garden also harbored darker moments: a string of mysterious miscarriages among the empresses of Pandoraia, unexplained disappearances and whispered curses that lingered in its scented paths.

And it was here, at twilight in the garden's heart, that Emperor Alexie — the final ruler of Pandoraia — was murdered by his trusted friend and bodyguard, Nicklos. A betrayal that splied the doom of Pandoraia

But one question remains, whispered still by the wind among the ancient ivy:

What is the garden's true origin?
