"That's confidential," Arthur cut in firmly, his eyes narrowing in warning. "But Carl's right. He died doing what he loves." He glanced at the door, quiet but sure. "And Nnenna can attest to that."
Carl nodded once. "Yes. She was there."
The family looked at each other, uncertainty cracking into belief. Ebere's hand trembled at her side, her lips pressing tight.
Abuchi ran a hand over his face, trying to process it all. Obinna leaned back, finally nodding slowly, as though convincing himself.
"If Nnenna can attest to this…" Obinna murmured, "…then it must be true."
The others followed, their expressions softening into reluctant acceptance.
Only Queen Chioma and Chidera remained rigid, their silence heavy with refusal. Their eyes spoke what their mouths did not: they didn't believe a word of it. But seeing the others accept, they had no more ground to stand on, for now.
"That's it then. Tomorrow evening," Carl said. The rest nodded, the decision sealed.
