Her eyes stayed fixed on Nnenna and Prince Louis, watching them move across the hall. "I… I don't know," she finally said softly. "Sometimes it's about the heart, not the kingdom."
Her words hung in the air, leaving the two assistants momentarily confused.
Little Sweetie did not bother explaining. What could she even say? That, despite Nnenna's fury at Arthur and her tendency to avoid him, she was probably looking forward to this dance?
That it was not all politics, that when Arthur had been chosen, Nnenna could have protested and refused, and no one could have stopped her, yet she stayed silent, letting it happen?
Maybe even Nnenna herself did not realize it, but she wanted exactly what was given to her. Proof was right there: a top class prince patiently waiting for her approval, while she unconsciously kept looking for Arthur.
"She's not going to agree," Little Sweetie finally said, about to give the signal to skip the dance altogether.
