"You're changing the topic," I refused to be led by the noose.
"I didn't complain when you did the same."
"Lucy was always on the agenda."
Chiara flicked her tongue, backing away from the argument and showing her annoyance at the situation, then she exhaled.
"Would you prefer to hear the words from me or Lucy herself?
It's her story, and she should be the one to say it."
"I am very comfortable with you saying it, Chiara. Please, go on."
My reply had the woman raise her brow. I showed that I didn't lack wisdom.
"I need a drink for this."
Before I could protest, Chiara got up and walked to a small fridge by the side. She took out a yellow drink with two cups, and returning, placed it on the table, immediately uncorking the bottle.
"Marcus, do you know that vampires are real?"
"Huh?"
"The night creatures placed into movies and written into novels, they're real. They exist in the real world, and your baby Lucy is one of them."
