"Everything okay?"
I slowly lifted my head and looked at Denise, who was watching me, realising that I had frozen in place.
"Yes." I straightened up.
"Did I jog up something?"
"Yeah. I remember some paper I had come across. Jamie is a real financial guru."
Denise nodded, relaxing as I rolled my shoulders, rubbing my neck in relief.
We both went silent, facing the front of the elevator.
My mind was on the perplexities surrounding how Nadia could have forgotten about him when I felt Denise's gaze suddenly return to me.
"Hope you're not thinking of recruiting him." She had on a frown.
I hadn't initially had any such thoughts, but Denise's words sparked an idea in me.
"Why not? You said he's a financial guru."
"Jamie is way out of our league."
"I'm richer than him."
"His value is beyond money," Denise stated flatly.
"So what does he want?" My eyes narrowed.
Denise's lips moved to speak, but no words left them. Her forehead scrunched, the woman becoming contemplative.
