You know, with the benefit of hindsight, that wasn't my best decision. I could probably have gone about the whole situation a bit better.
"Mr. Kragen Morgan, correct?" the smartly dressed woman sitting opposite me asked, making me nod hesitantly.
The woman sitting opposite me was dressed in a tight shirt, jacket, and skirt, with her white hair done up in a bun.
I was sure that I had died, and it looked like people had been lying to me, because the pearly gates looked a lot like an office. I wasn't a religious person, but none of the afterlives I had ever heard of came with air-conditioned offices or water coolers.
"That's right, where am I?" I asked, making her smile blandly.
"The afterlife, or as close to it as you're going to get. Yes, I'm afraid you died from…." the woman trailed off, looking down at the book in front of her and blinking. "Getting mauled by a bear after you tried to go home," she mumbled as she flicked through it, pausing. "And you died at an animal shelter after your shift ended, where you got surprise attacked by a bear and quickly mauled."
"The little fucker got on to me before I could do anything. If the little bastard wasn't so cute, I would've actually punched it. Sadly it ended up with me losing my life." He says as he simply shrugs.
As he saw the woman giving him a weird look, he could only sigh. He liked animals; it was as simple as that. He found most animals adorable and cute, something you probably wouldn't expect for a man who is 6'8, but every person had their weird autistic interest.
As the woman finally gained her composure, she looked back at him. "My name is Diana, and you're being given a second chance at life, and you'll be granted power to help you in your endeavors." Diana said, making him blink.
"Why and for what cost?" I asked.
"The cost is that you'll be joining the foundation, and you will have responsibilities to perform." Diana said, making me nod.
"Perfect, here's the list of potential powers available to you. Remember, you're only able to pick one," Diana said as I looked at the paper that she gave me with my options.
The paper only gave me titles with no descriptions, but I could guess by the name what these powers did.
The paper had around 3, each one with one theme in common. The beast slayer, the tamer, the hunter of beasts. "The beast slayer" probably means you'll gain some type of benefit if he kills monsters or animals since he doubted that these options weren't packed intentionally. "The Hunter of Beasts" it's probably the same thing, just that it is "hunting" instead of just killing monsters. The tamer was the only power in the list that interested me.
Due to the name, I assumed that it was related to taming monsters or animals in general, which fit him more, at least in my opinion.
As I showed her the paper, pointing at the one I wanted to select, she gave him a questioning look. "Are you sure you only get to pick one?" she said, and I nodded.
"Understood tamer it is," she said as the paper disappeared as it was turned into purple flames.
"Now, the world." She said as she passed me a folder containing a similar paper to the one she gave me before with the names of worlds I had access to.
A lot of these worlds, I recognize them due to their being fictional worlds in my previous world.
I shuddered as I saw certain worlds like 40K and Worm, as I was definitely not going to choose them, knowing perfectly the sort of bullshit that happened in those two worlds and other similar worlds.
But his attitude changed once he started seeing the requirements to complete the weaker worlds.
If I chose, for example, to go to Demon Slayer, the world will get a random change; it can be an apocalyptic event or a demonic or alien invasion.
It will get worse depending on the level of the world. But with powerful worlds like DC, Marvel, Worm, 40K, Solo Leveling, and other powerful worlds, I wouldn't get a drawback.
So either way I was going to get fucked.
As I looks through the list of worlds. It needs to be a world full of beasts to use my boon.
I could go to Pokémon, but it's one of the weaker worlds, which probably means if I picks it, I would get a massive apocalypse event or the dark would become some type of dark fantasy, Creepypasta fanfiction-type world.
But a lot of the worlds in this list are known for having a large number of monsters or even a large variety.
After thinking over his options as I looked through different names, considering the cons and pros and obvious personal preferences.
In the end he decided to go for a while I knew somewhat. He pointed at Akame ga Kill, showing Diana his option. I picked it since it was a world I knew somewhat since I watched the anime and it around the middle so I wouldn't get a drawback.
The paper, like the last one, turned into flames.
"Now all that's left is to sign the contract, and you'll be ready for your second chance." Diana said, summoning another piece of paper and placing it and a pen in front of him.
Reading through the contract, I paused at parts before he sighed and grabbed the pen.
"Excellent, I do wish you luck in your new life." Saying Diana made me chuckle a little bit (mostly because I was nervous). Before I could reply, my vision was blackened once more, and I felt himself fall through the chair I was sitting on and the floor beneath it.
-later-
Opening my eyes, I look around saying that I'm in the middle of a forest.

As the knowledge of my new abilities settled in my mind, I took my first steps through the dense forest, leaves crunching underfoot.
I eventually found what looked like a track just to see a certain scene that made me uncomfortable.
"Get a move on; we have a schedule to keep, and we aren't paying you to lollygag!" Said a man as he was whipping a group of people, their hands tied up on chains as they walked in a file line.
As I knew which world I was on, I could probably guess that they were slaves being sold. From what he could see, they were five men, four of them on the ground, and only one of them on a horse.
And they weren't taking with them like a dozen slaves around 30, from what I could see.
Electricity crackled in my palm, the faint blue glow illuminating my fingers as I steadied my breathing. This is insane. I just got here, and I'm already about to pick a fight.
But the sight of those people bruised, exhausted, and dragging their feet in chains made my stomach twist. I wasn't some hero, but I wasn't about to just watch either.
I stepped out from the treeline, raising my hand. The slaver on horseback, a burly man with a scarred face, turned just in time to see the bolt of electricity streak toward him.
The horse reared in panic as the man was thrown from the saddle, his body falling due to the loss of his head. The other four slavers whipped around, weapons drawn.
"What the hell—?!"
I didn't give them time to react. Another bolt lashed out, striking the nearest one square in the chest. He collapsed, twitching.
"Monster!" one of them screamed, backing away.
The remaining slavers weren't idiots. One of them, a guy with a crossbow, fired at me. I barely dodged, feeling the bolt graze my shoulder.
Shit, that was close.
I retaliated with another blast, but this time, my aim was off; the bolt hit the dirt near his feet, kicking up smoke. He stumbled back, coughing.
I need to end this fast.
I lunged forward, channeling Touki for the first time. A faint red aura flickered around my fists as I closed the distance. The slaver swung his sword at me.
My fist connected with his jaw, the impact amplified by the energy wrapped around it. He flew back, crashing into a tree.
The last two hesitated, then turned and bolted into the forest.
Panting, I lowered my fists. The slaves were still staring at me, a mix of awe and fear in their eyes.
Quest completed
[Liberation]
Objective: Free the slaves and ensure their safety.
Reward: World Map Unlocked, X10 Commoner's Clothes, 2 weeks of Rations, Natural born [Perk]
Ignoring that for now, I went to each one of the slaves and broke the chains on their arms and legs. While doing so, he managed to gain conversation from some of them.
"So you guys were going to get sold off to whoever this dickhead would've beenbecause you didn't want to support this civil war going on?"
"Correct, the Empire doesn't take too kindly to those that openly protest the war and refuse to help aid it. So we were rounded up from our homes, had our belongings snatched from us, and were rounded up as would-be slaves to be sold off to the nearest noble lord.
"Where are you going to go from here?" I ask the man I was talking to. "It shouldn't be too much of a problem for us to find the next town or city. Luckily for us, they had a spare one of these maps on hand… It's a bit messed up from you punching them into literal pieces, but it's still legible enough for us to find our way to the next town over."
"Alright, well if that's the case, then good luck finding your way back…" I said as I took one of the swords, one of the guys I killed had.
After that both me and formal slave when our separate ways. As I choose to claim my rewards.
Perk Add
[Natural born]
You are natural existence in the world due to that you can learn any art/ability/technique natural to the world and you passively absorb energy from the Earth in small amounts.
This is actually really good…but I don't think this world has a power system but maybe teigu? Then again, the perk did say "any art native to this world."
A rustle in the undergrowth snapped me out of my thoughts. My hand instinctively went to the sword I'd taken from the slaver.
I stepped deeper into the forest. As I look around the forest until my eyes spotted a large furry creature…a wolf with my power I could feel what it truly was a danger beast.
"Alright, big guy… let's see if this works." The beast's growl deepened, muscles coiling like steel springs beneath its shadow-dark fur.
"Easy," I murmured, not breaking eye contact.
The wolf's head whipped toward the sound, and in that split second of distraction, I lunged grabbing him still as I start kicking his ass, beating him into submission.
[New beast tamed Added: Shadowfang Wolf]
"There we go," I exhaled, slowly lowering my hand. "Now we're talking."
[Tamer's Insight!]

Curious, I focused on the wolf.

"Huh. No name, huh?" I smirked. "How about… Kuro?" The wolf tilted its head. "Kuro it is."
