At the edge of town a large gathering of pirates had formed at the harbor. With the town now empty, they took the furniture from the inn right on the edge of the harbor and brought it all out between the tents they had set up to camp out in. Their tables were filled with food. Their mugs with ale. And their flags flew at full mast. Showing a skull with a big red nose and green lines coming from the cardinal directions of the eyeholes.
Everything was going exactly according to plan for them. Which is precisely why they didn't notice the tiny thief moving between their tents. Her nimble body jumped from one tent to the next. She made her way over to the inn. The camp was set up like a crescent moon. All the tents are in a crescent shape with the tables filled in the center.
As she crossed the center line of the crescent moon, she spotted a tent that was thinner than the rest. This tent had more of a box shape compared to the other triangle tents. She would keep that in mind. However, she continued walking towards the right side of the tents. The inn was on the right side of the tents. If she was right, the treasure she was looking for was in there.
She was able to sneak past the rest of the pirates without any incident. All of them were too drunk to notice their asses hanging out of their pants. Buy a belt. They approached the door of the inn. She was ready to pick the lock. But she found the key still inside it. I'm starting to feel bad for them. Pirates or not. Turning the doorknob, she slunk into the main room. The room was completely trashed. Everything that had been on the tables was cleared off and pushed onto the floor. Near the back of the room. On top of the room's bar were a series of chests and boxes. "There it is~ Let's grab it and get out of here."
High in the skies above, the Miss Love Duck was cruising through the air at a dangerous speed. Should anyone on the deck release their anchor, they run the risk of soaring off and becoming permanently lost at sea.
Just as they got used to the feeling of moving level through the air. The ship began to take a downturn. Falling at an angle towards the ground. At the back of the ship, Lance was sitting on the deck holding onto the railing. As the ship began to fall front first. Lance was caught off guard and fell from the back railing to the front. He spun in the air a few times before colliding with the wood. He landed right next to the hole that he had made just a few minutes earlier.
The ship cut through the air like a knife through rough bread. The friction caused by the descent began to tear away the boards. Kuina, Mary, Alvida, and Rika all screamed as they flew through the air. Lance hung upside down and looked over the edge of the railing. Even as it came at him all at once. The sea still looked breathtaking to him. Like a beautiful blue expanse…was that an island?
The screams only ramped up as the water grew closer and closer. They screamed louder and louder until the ship hit the surface of the water. The ship crashed hard just off the beach of an island. Causing a dent in the surface, the ship breached the water, slamming into it. Sinking deep into the water until the deck almost dips below the surface. However, the ship soon shot out of the water and landed on the beach of the island. A few of the ship's boards cracked as it made contact with the sand and earth.
A tremor ran through the ship as it slammed into the ground. This caused everyone to bounce off the floor of the ship. Lance fell from the broken railing and landed on the deck below. Slamming his head against the wood. "Ow! I didn't even do anything!"
With the chaos finally over, the crew all stood up and stretched to get their bodies feeling right. Lance turned his neck from one side to the other. With a loud cracking sound, Lance sighed with relief and looked at the rest of his crew. "Alright. Anyone who's dead, sound off."
A collective groan came from the rest of the crew. "Ok, good." Lance dusted off his pants as he walked to the edge of the deck. "Time to come back to life!" With that he jumped off the deck. Landing on the ground below. Letting his crew jump down after him. Coming down one at a time. Kuina held Rika as the two jumped down.
Looking out inland, they saw quite the captivating sight. A town that looked quite a bit like the previous island they had been to. Boring. Plain. Civilian. Except for what he could see in the distance. There were large pillars of smoke coming from inside the town. Like there were large smoldering fires. "Alright, crew. Let's see what this island has in store for us."
Kuina set Rika on the ground. She needed to get down to the bottom of what was going on with her new captain. "Captain. We should split up into two groups. Cover more ground that way."
"Alright! I can get behind that! How about you and Ri-" Before he could finish, Kuina interrupted him.
"I want to go with you. Alone. The other three are too slow to keep up with me. We can cover twice the distance they will." Kuina crossed her arms and leaned back slightly while she spoke.
The shade she threw their way left Mary and Alvida aghast. Mary and Alvida's jaws dropped, leaving their eyes wide open. "Huuuh?" They both screamed out. The thoughts in their minds were very similar.
'Why the hell would Lance want to hang out with this bimbo? He should be spending his time with me, his childhood love! Surly he'll reject her advances!'
'Why would my husband want to spend alone time with this idiot? He should be carrying me through this town on our honeymoon! Surly he'll reject her advances!'
Both watched silently as Lance thought about Kuina's suggestion. "Sure! Sounds good to me!" He answered with a large smile and closed eyes. "Alvida, Mary. Are you two willing to take Rika around the island?"
The two women responded by screaming back at Lance at the same time. "Are you kidding me? You just met this woman!"
Lance chuckled nervously as he looked back at the two. "Sorry, girls! I have to get some quality time with the new girl! Come on, Kuina!" He ran into the town while laughing. Soon followed by the silent Kuina.
Mary and Alvida blinked in confusion. Before their expressions turned back into anger. "Damn you, Duval! When I get my hands on you, I'm gonna…aaaah!" Mary's arms flailed up and down at her sides as she worked through her frustration. "Where's my alone time?"
