Luna lay in her bed, wondering what she was going to do now. A few hours later, she got a message from William asking her if he should come fetch her.
She refused, telling him that Nora was going to give her a ride back home. William responded by saying how much he was going to miss her. Which made her feel horrible for lying.
Luna decided that she was going to tell him everything tomorrow; telling him now would make him call her, and she was not in the mood to talk to anyone.
Luna stirred awake and yelped when she found Ace seated on the corner of her room. You would think that she would be used to it by now, but no, he still frightened her.
"This is a crime." She said, taking deep breaths.
"And?"
She was getting angry at the way he was making it seem as if she was the one that was in the wrong. "Please leave me alone."
"So you left because you didn't want to serve me?"
"I did. You make me sick, and I can't carry on like this. You controlling every step of my life is ridiculous."
"What makes you think I will stop there?"
"What?"
"What makes you think it will stop because you stopped working at the restaurant?"
Luna felt too drained to care much, he was not getting the reaction that he wanted from her. "Go ahead, Ace, do your best. I don't care anymore."
"You don't care about William?"
Luna was shocked as to how this conversation had led them here, "He has nothing to with this. I don't know why you are bringing him up."
"He does; I suppose he did not tell you that he came to me."
Luna froze. "He did what?"
"I did nothing as I knew that you would lose it."
"If you dare to touch as a single hair, you will regret it."
He chuckled, "What will you do about it?"
"I will get my revenge; don't underestimate me. I may be small, but I can do anything to protect someone that I care about."
"Interesting. Should I do it now? I want to see how it would play out."
"If you did that, just know that I still wouldn't come to you."
"Really?"
"All this just for sex? That is beyond disgusting to accost someone just for that."
"Have sex with me, and I will let you and William be together."
Luna's mouth dropped. " First of all, I won't give something so sacred to you and secondly I will not cheat on William. Maybe in your world it's fine, but in mine, it's a non-negotiable deal breaker."
"Sex is sacred now?"
"It might not be to you, Ace, but for some of us, it's not the same."
"How is it sacred?"
Ace seemed to be genuinely asking, and told him her view point,
"Sex is a connection of bodies, you are entering your body. You connect and become one; that for me, is what makes it sacred. A moment to share with someone you connect with on the same level."
He nodded. "I did not think of it that way."
"You should."
"I'm not going to stop having sex. That might be the case for you but not for me. I can have sex without connection or having meaning."
"Exactly, that is you, not me."
"I can see that."
"If you're done here, you can leave."
"Don't fucken dismiss me."
He can barge in any time without her permission, but she can't ask him to leave. "I'm not, I want to go to bed."
"Go to sleep then."
"Not with you looming in my room."
"I will wait for you, as long as it takes."
"What? Just for sex? You are unbelievable."
"With your job, I told your manager to rehire you."
"I'm not going back."
"I won't bother you anymore."
"How do you expect me to believe you?"
"You are going to have to take my word for it. I will try my best, and I'm not saying it lightly."
"You can't take back your word."
"I'm not going to repeat it, I meant what I said, Luna."
Luna nodded in relief; he seemed to be genuine, and time will tell. "That is great."
"I'm going to leave now."
"Please do."
Ace turned to leave but turned back,
"I meant it ,Luna, I will wait for you. As long as it takes."
With that, he left, and Luna lay back down in relief and hope for a better future with William.
