Chapter 591 - Noldrei: Ely, Let's Go Find Some Fun!

Elysia remembered that the very thing Noldrei wanted to resist was this world where life could be replaced at any moment.

Often, in order to resolve conflicts among humans, Noldrei would subconsciously resort to these methods commonly used by the people of his future.

Elysia seemed to have discovered something and asked, "I heard from Dr. Tesla that you're looking for an 'irreplaceable existence.' Have you found it yet?"

She couldn't quite comprehend the state of Noldrei's future world.

But by now, Elysia could roughly guess what Noldrei's future was like.

The ability for the "reproduction of one's own kind" had accumulated to an incredibly powerful state in Noldrei's era.

Just like the androids Elysia had seen, Gray Serpent was a typical example.

Normal people needed to use the internet, schools, and other means to find their own kind among the vast sea of life, to find people with compatible values.

But in Noldrei's era, such people, or rather, such life forms, could be mass-produced. This led to the devaluation of "one's own kind." Emotions like friendships forged through hardship were difficult to form in Noldrei's heart.

He would instinctively believe that these were like-minded individuals. The two wouldn't need to cultivate or test their friendship; they would come together from the start to work towards a common goal.

Just like little Ducky now. After her birth, she would also follow Noldrei's moral aspirations to construct her own moral concepts.

Because little Ducky was the third "kind" created by Noldrei. Although it required the use of a Herrscher Core to complete the task, it was undeniable that little Ducky had taken on the responsibility of being the third "kind."

Noldrei, of course, had not found that "irreplaceable" existence, because the "irreplaceable" itself was constantly being dissolved by the "reproduction of one's own kind."

Only a new life that Noldrei couldn't create no matter how hard he tried would be that legendary "irreplaceable" one.

"I haven't found it. In fact, it's hard to even imagine such a life exists, right?"

Noldrei wondered if such a life truly existed. But as he thought about it, he would subconsciously realize that once such a life appeared, it would also be replicated exactly by the Proliferationist society.

Elysia nodded in understanding. "According to what you've said, that's what your future era is like. Before you have a chance to develop feelings for someone, to even form an irreplaceable bond, another replacement is already placed before you. Is that right?"

Noldrei agreed, "Yes, that's exactly it!"

Elysia rested her chin on her crossed hands and asked curiously, "So, have the people of this world made you feel that way? Or rather... do you have any plans to halt the further development of geneticism into Proliferationism?"

Noldrei considered the topic to be very heavy. He said, "I'm not sure. Once humanity encounters trouble, it must abandon the path dependency of the original geneticism and start a new path to prevent the birth of Proliferationism. If you're looking for an answer from me, there's only one way."

Elysia knew very well what that path was. It meant that humanity would inevitably walk the path of Proliferationism. And the humans of that time would become beings just like Noldrei.

At first, Ely thought that something like falling in love or finding an irreplaceable partner could solve this problem.

However, once such a problem involves an entire civilization and forms a massive social network, it becomes terrifyingly difficult to control.

This meant that humans could only maintain the uniqueness of the things they cherished by becoming mentally hysterical, or by becoming increasingly unhinged, or by voluntarily choosing death.

'This is so difficult... How can I sever this infinite 'reproduction of one's own kind'?'

Elysia's own head was about to go bald from thinking about it. She was finally beginning to understand why those people had tried to change the past. Even a guy like Noldrei had trouble coming up with a solution, let alone someone like her who hadn't experienced that era.

"It's not like you can go around playing matchmaker, right? Making sure everyone in the world finds their one and only? That's simply impossible!"

Elysia was about to die from the dilemma. She thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a solution. In the end, she could only look to Noldrei to see what his plans were.

"Little Ducky is the third generation produced. After her, there will be a fourth, a fifth, even a sixth..."

Noldrei said helplessly, "This is the future. It's a direction that won't change no matter what. After humans mastered the ability to rapidly produce their own kind, they fell into this vicious cycle and could never get out. It's like Academy City now. If you asked the matriarchs of Academy City to go back to their old way of life, to be responsible for human reproduction, they would absolutely refuse to take on that backward form of life production again."

"If you can produce life with one click, why would you risk your own life to create a new one?"

Elysia was about to go crazy just listening to it.

She frowned and thought for a long time before tentatively saying, "Noldrei, do you want to give it a try? I mean, try repeating this backward method of life creation? For example, have Dr. Tesla try getting pregnant?"

Noldrei immediately shook his head. "It's useless. With Tesla's current abilities, I just need to prepare the necessary genes for her. She can use those genes, combine them with the genes in her own body, and create a child in a short period of time through her own abilities. Wouldn't that still just shorten the process of 'reproducing one's own kind'?"

'This won't work, that won't work...'

Elysia was almost tempted to get pregnant herself and leave the problem to the wisdom of future generations.

Maybe the people of the future could think of a solution to this problem?

'Wait, Noldrei is a person from the future?!'

"If you can't figure it out, then don't think about it. The number of humans in our era was countless, and in the end, none of them could break this cruel, vicious cycle. How could you possibly think of a solution in such a short time?"

Noldrei, on the other hand, was comforting Elysia. He was more open-minded about it. If he could solve it, he would. If not, they could take it slow.

Everyone had a long time to live anyway. They could totally sit down and discuss this for a few tens of thousands of years.

"Thanks for your help, Ely. Let's leave the rest of the problem for humanity to think about together. Although Proliferationism has its problems, with it, the humans who come after us will never again face a crisis that makes us worry about human extinction."

"For now, these are all good things!" Noldrei put his arm around Elysia's shoulder and led the scowling pink-haired elf off to find other ways to seek happiness.
