Chapter 350 - Chapter 351 - The First Civil War (XIX)

"Politics is like this, you lose or win, but the price for the loser is often to fall into misery. Without mercy, pity, or sentimentality. If you want to be a politician, be ready to become a monster." Alysanne Targaryen.

--------------

Alysanne was about to meet her father and saw the First Imperial Advisor walking with a somber and desolate expression. It was the first time she had seen the cheerful, funny, and playful Tyrion showing an expression like that.

"Did something happen, My dear Duke?" Alysanne couldn't help but ask. Tyrion's expression was truly abnormal and worrying. After all, for a thousand years, Tyrion had never shown a worrying expression.

Looking at the witty and concerned Princess, Tyrion couldn't smile or even make an effort to talk to her. He moved out of her way and left without saying anything. He didn't address any word to Alysanne, as if she didn't exist.

However, Tyrion stopped his steps, he turned around and spoke to the princess with a calm tone, so calm that it sounded extremely cold and indifferent. "Princess, be careful not to become another sacrifice in the Emperor's great plan."

Alysanne narrowed her eyes and didn't like Tyrion's tone at all, she felt that there was no respect in his words mentioning her father. Showing a casual expression, the princess spoke with an equally calm and cold tone. "Pawn? If my father wants to use me as a pawn, I would gladly accept, there are things more important than one's own feelings."

So what if she was a pawn in her father's hands? Everyone was a pawn in this great game that involved the survival of the human race and the survival of the Known Universe itself. Whether it was her, her mother, or even her own father, they were pieces on the chessboard.

Pawns could be sacrificed for the greater good. Aegon would die to kill the other's queen, and her father, even loving Aegon, would do it without any hesitation. Because everyone could be sacrificed, regardless of who they were.

This was a war involving extremely powerful cosmic beings whose mere presence could cause mutations on an entire planet. To think that no one would be sacrificed was a naivety that she didn't expect to see in Tyrion.

Hearing her words, Tyrion widened his eyes, but he regained his composure instantly. "Like father, like daughter. You two are the same, capable of sacrificing those you love for a plan that you don't even know if it will be a success or a failure."

"That's why you are only an advisor, Lord Duke." Alysanne spoke with a cold tone. "All we can do is our best, whether in success or failure, we give our best and we will not regret it."

"By the way." Alysanne looked directly into Tyrion's green eyes and spoke with a terribly cold and murderous tone. "Speak of my father again without due respect and I will kill you."

Tyrion felt a chill run through his body, he looked into the purple eyes and smiled bitterly. Alysanne was truly Aenar's daughter, this kind of tyranny was simply a copy of Aenar. "Forgive me, Princess, it seems I drank too much."

"Then drink less, my dear Duke. Who knows if your head will appear on a spear any day now." Alysanne showed a gentle smile and turned around, she continued her way, walking elegantly with her long legs.

Looking at Alysanne's back, Tyrion shook his head and knew that his political career was over. He resigned and, on top of that, offended Alysanne. Any friend of his would be implicated and would have their positions downgraded or even expelled from the political bureaucracy of the Imperial Senate.

"Just like Eddard, Doran, Olenna, and now me, we will all move away from politics." Tyrion sighed and murmured in a calm tone. "I want to have a drink with Robb, it's been a while since I've seen my old friends."

-

Alysanne found her father in his office, he seemed calm and casual, but she noticed that he was slightly distracted, as if he was thinking about something very distant. Remembering Tyrion, she knew that something had happened.

"Father." Alysanne arrived behind Aenar, ignoring Leda and began to massage her father's shoulders. "You seem tense."

Aenar looked at his daughter with a playful look and knew that the girl wanted to get more information about what was happening. Letting out a comfortable sigh with the massage, he spoke in a calm tone. "I told Tyrion that Aegon sacrificed Joanna to Slaanesh. After knowing this, he resigned from his position."

Alysanne was shocked by Aegon's brutality, she never thought he would actually sacrifice his own wife to Slaanesh. Remembering the rumors that Aegon's wife had been acting strangely in recent years, she finally understood what was happening.

Ignoring Joanna's death, as if it were nothing, Alysanne showed a surprisingly gentle expression and spoke in a spoiled tone. "Father~ now that the position of First Imperial Advisor is vacant, you could give it to Saera or Lyarra."

Aenar couldn't help but roll his eyes at Alysanne's spoiled voice, the girl simply ignored her sister-in-law's death and was seeking benefits. This left him speechless, but he understood that Alysanne simply didn't care, after all, she had no contact with Aegon's wife.

"Do you think they will be enough to withstand the pressure?" Aenar asked with a smile, feeling lighter with his daughter's presence. As for the position of Imperial Advisor, he was in doubt about who to put in Tyrion's place. Saera was an option, but Lyarra arrived at court two years ago, her career had just begun, but she already wanted to occupy one of the most important positions in the Imperium?

"With my help, either of them can withstand the pressure from all political sides." Alysanne spoke with a very confident tone. Although she would suffer a devastating blow when the Merit Law for the Nobility was announced, she was confident in making Saera or Lyarra occupy the position of Imperial Advisor.

Aenar showed a thoughtful expression and excluded Saera as a candidate. Although he didn't mind putting relatives in public office, he didn't want to cause a controversy at this moment. Lyarra was more suitable for this position because of her identity as the future Duchess of House Stark.

After all, the Law that Alysanne proposed would shake the foundations of the nobility, so Lyarra was quite suitable for the position, being a future duchess. With Lyarra's example, a future duchess, all nobles will have to accept the new law as soon as possible or they will suffer from the law.

"I will put Lyarra in the position, but be careful not to let her fall into traps or I will have to force her to resign." Aenar spoke in a calm tone, he looked at his daughter with a playful and amused look. With Tyrion's departure, the Court's politics would have to be changed in many ways.

After all, Tyrion was in office for a thousand long years, the number of politicians he helped could not be ignored, even far from the Imperial Senate, he could still have a lot of power.

"I know, I will clean up Tyrion's supporters." Alysanne understood the implications in her father's words and spoke in a calm tone. Since Tyrion left the Court, he no longer needed the power and she would make him enjoy his retirement relaxed.

"Maegor and Aegon will receive the same information, they will also be able to fight to put their own subordinates in the advisor position." Aenar said in a calm tone. Although he favored Alysanne, he would not leave his other children aside.

He could favor Alysanne, but he couldn't leave his children aside, this would only create unnecessary conflict between them.

Alysanne shrugged and didn't care, she was confident in defeating Maegor and Aegon, especially Aegon, whose power was almost completely exterminated because of her actions. Although Maegor was a tough nut to crack, she would also defeat him.

Seeing her confidence, Aenar felt that Alysanne would need setbacks or she would develop a mentality of invincibility. This was unacceptable in his eyes, he himself was not invincible, how could Alysanne be considered invincible.

'It seems I have to help Maegor a little, Alysanne has to taste defeat.' Aenar thought with a playful look as he looked at his daughter's confident expression.

Alysanne did not know that her father was conspiring against her, for the simple reason that she was confident in defeating both brothers. If she knew this, she would have shown a solemn expression to pretend that this would be a fierce battle.

Unfortunately, she will find out at the worst possible moment possible.
