Chapter 49 - Puppet

Argminar, a city in the Diamond Kingdom. Unlike the normal city in other kingdoms, this city, like others in the Diamond Kingdom, was more of a military city, covered with high-rise walls from all sides like a fort.

True to its appearance, it was filled with warrior mages on the inside as well, who patrolled the streets.

Under normal circumstances, constant patrol from warrior mages would serve to stop the crime and make the life of citizens of this world more prosperous, but things couldn't be farther from this.

Normal folks walked around keeping their head low, avoiding eye contact with the mages. The small alleyways would occasionally resound with screams, but they would be left unnoticed by the mages, like nothing had occurred. Even the people did not dare move towards it.

The people here lived their lives under the burden of constant oppression, and the source of this oppression was present in the city itself.

In the center of this fortress, filled with sorrow, stood another fortress, covered by waters from all sides bar one, connected by a draw gate.

But this was not a fortress in the true sense, but a place of residence.

Place of Residence of Karyon Meiu, a general of the Diamond Kingdom. He was a rugged man with a full-grown beard and cruel eyes. He ruled everything with an iron hand in this city, as if it were his kingdom.

He would assault women as he pleased, kill as he pleased, and do all kinds of other atrocities.

Right now, this monster in the shell of man was in his room, once again engaged in his activity of dastardliness.

"Please, Master Meiu, let me go!" Amber, a maid in this fort, cried as she tried to shrug off Karyon, who had her pressed against the wall.

"Why do you want to go away from me? Do I scare you?" Karyon asked in a mock tone of inquisition, though he knew the answer and he did not relent his grip.

"Let me go! Help! Somebody! Help!" Amber cried, tears streaming down her face as she felt Karyon's bulge through his pants pressing down on her.

"Scream! Resist! It makes it all the more exciting for me! Hahahaha!" Karyon jeered as he held her clothes and…

*TEAR*

"AAAHHH!!!!!"

…tore them in a single motion of the hand.

Amber cried more, trying to cover herself and fight against Karyon at the same time, but she could do none of them.

"Why are you trying to hide, huh? You are my property, just like everything in this city, and mine to do as I please." Karyon said, as he brought his face near hers, and breathed down her neck with his eyes boring into her, which filled Amber with dread, and Karyon with excitement.

"Hel-mmppphh"

Her words were silenced with a hand on her mouth that also served to prevent her from looking down.

It was then she heard the sound of something very light falling down, and then felt it. Touching her there. This caused her eyes to widen, and her protest intensified. Not that it did anything in the face of Karyon's overwhelming strength.

Without a single word, Karyon leaned forward and…

*THUP*

"MMMMMM!!!!!"

…started to violate Amber, who could only cry into the hand of Karyon.

"There, ah, we go!" Karyon said over a muffled scream and rhythmic thumping.

"Haah, God, I am just waiting for that bitch Rosalind to be under me like you are. I am, argh, just waiting for that idiot, argh, of her brother to come."

Screams started to recede as Amber felt helplessness wash over her. Not that it affected Karyon.

"That dumb idiot thinks of, argh, ah, exchanging gold for her sister. Fucking beggar.

Doesn't have, ah, money for shit.

Does not matter, though, argh.

If that little shit does not bring gold, I will fuck his sister, and if he brings gold, then I will fuck her in front of, ah, take this!"

Karyon grunted as he emptied into Amber, whose protest had died down somewhere in between and remained suspended in air like a corpse, with the only thing keeping her upright being Karyon's hands.

He spent a few moments before he withdrew, and Amber slumped on the floor like a useless object, at which Karyon smirked.

"Ahh…I cannot wait for Rosalind to take your place."

And as if the world was waiting for those words…

*CRACK*

*SHATTER*

…the world cracked and shattered.

The scene remained the same, with two changes.

First, the place where Amber lies remained a cylindrical structure made of diamond-like mineral, with an opening inside it, filled with jagged spikes, oozing with blood.

Second, Karyon's dick, who was inside the said cylinder with sharp spikes, was torn and shredded beyond measure, and what remained was an unrecognizable piece of flesh between his legs, dripping the floor with blood.

For a moment, Karyon remained still, then the pain hit him,

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

A horrendous cry emanated from his throat as he crumpled over the floor, clutching his late private organ, rolling in his own puddle of blood.

As he was rolling on the floor, his back suddenly received a kick, which launched him towards the wall made entirely of stone, and he was embedded in it, creating cracks in the wall.

His cries, too, were momentarily stunned.

"Thank God. It almost seemed like somebody chopped your dick off." A gravely sound reverberated as a figure came into view. His face was covered by a mask that was made of wood, and had only two holes for eyes, nothing else.

He wore a hood that hid his hair, and his clothes were like those an assassin wears. Completely white in color, though.

With no hurry in his steps, he walked toward Karyon, whose head was stuck inside the wall, and his crotch was soaked with blood.

Reaching him, the figure grabbed one of the legs of Karyon's, and pulled him from the wall with no regard for his safety, hanging him in the air upside down, causing the blood that was falling on the ground to travel to Karyon's head, then dripping from his head.

"So, you are the infamous Karyon who is hated by everyone, huh?" Figure said, but Karyon did not say anything, and hung there lifelessly.

At this, the figure brought his other hand to his wrist and checked for his pulse.

"Ahh…you are dead with just that?

I had prepared a whole speech, you know.

I expected you to scream, "Who are you?", "Do you know who I am?" or "Leave me, I will give you money, woman, or anything you want"." The figure said, with disappointment seeping from his tone.

Saying this, the figure cocked his leg back and then shot it at Karyon's head, turning it into a pink mist.

Following this, motes of golden light flowed towards the figure, while the grimoire of Karyon turned into those motes of gold. This happened for a few moments, until the light died down.

Then, the figure shoved his hand into empty air, which disappeared into a portal, and pulled out a diary coupled with a pen.

He opened the diary, which contained many names, most of which were crossed out. Figure hovered the tip of the pen over the uncrossed name of Karyon Meiu, and crossed it out.

'One more down, too many to go.' Figure muttered as he placed the diary back inside the portal.

Then he cracked his fingers, and moved his hand inside his hand inside his robes, and pulled out a small puppet, whose string was cut, and threw it over the pool of blood around Karyon's corpse.

Doing this, the figure, Puppet, disappeared into thin air, as if he had never been there.

A few days later, after the death of Karyon, alarms were sounded throughout the kingdom metaphorically in the shadows. A meeting was called in the Capital of the Diamond Kingdom, where all of the top brass of the military were assembled.

They were seated around a long table and had a grim expression on their face.

For a moment, there was only overbearing silence, when a man with white hair with skin full of wrinkles spoke, clasping his hand over his mouth.

"Will someone tell me what the hell is going on?"

"What else is there to say? There is someone or a group of people, going around and draining life lifeblood of our nation. They have killed multiple generals, lieutenants, and captains already. They have also killed many of the warrior mages from the Squads." A man who seemed to be in his late 30s replied as if he was discussing the weather, which no doubt pissed all of the others at the table.

Among them, another man of similar age thundered back.

"This is not some paltry issue. 3 of the squads of late-8 shining generals are killed. 5 of them are near the point of dying, with barely members left alive.

Someone just did not kill them, they are butchering them like cattle."

"And they are doing it with absolute secrecy.

Only when most of our military members are killed, do we are knowing about this.

Any late, and the only way we would have found out about this would be when the said person in question would be pointing their blades at us." Another man chimed in, missing an arm.

All of the generals nodded at this when one among them asked.

"Then how do we proceed. How do we act? We don't even know anything about this person, other than the puppets with strings cut that he leaves behind. What do they even mean?"

"Maybe they are a crackpot with a knack for assassination, or they are sending a message, but it is not the message that is concerning, but the way they are sending it." The one who spoke previously replied.

At this, the oldest among them who began this meeting smacked the table with his fist, and bit back.

"We are going in circles. We need solutions to this problem, and we need it quickly, otherwise I am afraid that we are not going to live the next day."

Then, just as he spoke…

*PTUI*

…blades went and pierced all of the generals in their heads. Each blade was not identical to the other, and just as they appeared, they disappeared as well.

Follow this, golden light from each of their grimoire floated into a single place.
