Chapter 19 - 19

Then I summoned more witnesses for a conversation about what happened more than a thousand years ago in the remote forests of Britain.

"There weren't many of us," a dark-haired, gray-eyed man said sadly.

"And what could you do, as mages?"

"Telekinesis, telepathy, and the royal court persecuted us for it, fearing for their thrones. Now the magical power has disappeared, but not for everyone. Nowadays mages, embodied on Earth, still have to hide their abilities, because science cannot explain where all this comes from. I have no magic left, I suppose, because I committed murders of people who were in my way."

"From what world did you come?"

"Nobody remembers anything, we just started living on Earth like ordinary people, and magic appeared on its own, in varying degrees of strength for each person."

...A natural process of evolution... what a news!…

"But I remember," another spirit's voice said. "I used to live on a planet where superheroes were famous... and I was one of them!"

"Are you kidding?" the former mage chuckled. "And you have such a beautiful appearance, rare for this planet."

"Ha! In my world, almost everyone is like that! And your appearance is too unusual!"

"So how did you manifest your powers?" I interrupted the conversation.

"Just like celebrities here, there weren't many of us, mostly superheroes showed off in front of the public, putting on various shows with levitation and flying. Lots of fans and admirers, just the same! Only without stuntmen, equipment and tricks! Everything was real!"

"Cool! And why did you leave such a unique world?"

"I was invited to live here... but I have nothing to show myself off with here! I can't fly like before, and it's considered so shocking that even if I could move freely through the air, what would it lead to?"

"Your rare masculine beauty is enough!" another stranger's voice noted barely audibly.

"One in a billion, I suppose," the mage remarked.

"And why is that necessary?" the superman wondered. "A huge number of women have truly fallen in love with me! I have to hide from the excessive attention, and they are ready to do anything to spend time with me."

"That's wonderful! Beauty is valuable in all worlds of any density!" the stranger declared. "And for us, men with ordinary appearances, it's not easy to win the hearts of picky women, but under your influence they melt and become more accessible for relationships with those who are simpler..."

"What!? Is that so! I had no idea that I was here for such purposes!"

...The spirits argued for a long time about the importance of beauty as inspiration, and I wondered what people with very mediocre appearances should do?…

"What-what!? Reincarnate again!" one of the men emphasized. "Who needs ugly people if they're so unpleasant to look at? So there's no need to spoil our mood! Let them be reborn again! Until a pleasant result is achieved!"

"Of course! There's no other way!" I retorted sarcastically. "I already know that every young beauty is being watched by men from both heaven and the underworld, so they can claim the good shells for their own purposes!"

"And it's bad that you refuse to make a complete transition to us! One incarnation is enough, my dear, with your complexion!"

"Thanks! I'm fine in 3D!"

...In reality, it's not so great to be a beauty on Earth, because the insidious inhabitants of the depths mark lovely physical bodies with disgusting warts on the delicate face and body to drag them underground. I sometimes notice these black marks on others! They absolutely must be burned off with a laser, otherwise there's no way to get rid of them!

In general, astral entities often infect humanity with various diseases on the etheric plane, causing widespread epidemics and plagues, wishing to get rid of the surplus of people.

"Why such hatred?" I often protested in the spirit world. "How do people bother you?"

"There are too many of them! They're annoying... and now there are so many incredibly noisy cars, helicopters, technology, they've invented and built all sorts of things! We need to get rid of it all! Everything that's ugly!" various voices grumbled discontentedly.

"Then there will be significantly fewer beautiful women! Who will you please then?"

"There are already not much of them! We have to invite them from above!"

"Radiant ones! I doubt they need that!" I chuckled, remembering the slender models of the fashion world. "Unless it's because of the luxurious life they'll be offered because of their presence among people. Doesn't the faces of long-legged beauties irritate mortals? It's funny that often these arrogant guys have to be born as women! What a laugh!"

"Well, they are born as male models, and the girls come from a higher layer - rainbow angels!"

...Oh yes, there are such beings! Only they shouldn't forget the environment they have to move in: a drug-addled high society amidst debauchery and drunkenness. Not exactly promising prospects! And what if they experience amnesia after such an inappropriate lifestyle for enlightened beings? After all, they could drown in the depths of stardust or say goodbye for a long time to the spiritual achievements gained over eons.

"That's why we always help each other!" a radiant figure appeared before me, shimmering with iridescent reflections. "It's good that you reminded us, angels! Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to manage without your advice, awakened one! Where did you even come from? Nobody remembers you!"
