---After Class/First Person POV---
In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have showed off my lightning scythe for Ruby.
"Ryze oh my gosh please please please pull it out! Pull it out right now pretty please with a strawberry on top!"
With a sigh, I turned towards Ruby as me and the rest of my team were walking back from Goodwitch's class alongside team RWBY.
"First off, phrasing Ruby. If you wanna know what I mean by that, ask Yang."
Yang shot a dirty glare at me from the side, a promise of vengeance definitely burning in her eyes for what she had to try and brush off later. Oh well, sucks to be her I guess.
"Secondly, we're in the middle of the hallway Ruby. Plus, I'm not even in a fight right now."
"So what? Who cares about where we are or what we're doing, I just wanna see it! I haven't seen ANYONE ever use a scythe aside from myself and Uncle Qrow, let alone one made of lightning!"
I swear I must have had the most exasperated look on my face while Ruby continued to beg me as we reached our dorms.
"You know what Ruby? If you still want to, after dinner I'll show you in the training rooms if you're still interested."
"REALLY?! Oh definitely! See you in a few hours!"
Ruby dashed into her team's dorm with her semblance, petals trailing behind. I don't know where she gets this much energy at times. The rest of her team followed in behind while I went into my dorm with Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora.
"You know, despite not being quite as enthusiastic about it as Ruby, I am just as interested in your abilities Ryze," Pyrrha commented from my side while we all set our stuff down.
"Yeah fearless leader! Can you also make grenades like my Magnhild shoots out? Ooh! Or maybe gigantic titans," Nora energetically asked me.
"You guys want me to explain my abilities a bit? I'm happy to as your leader. In fact, why don't we have a group sit down right now and go over a bit about ourselves. We can talk about our hobbies, interests, and our abilities."
Ren sat down on the edge of his and looked over towards me.
"I think that would be a fine thing to do so we can all get to know one another."
We all sat around in a circle on the carpet in the middle of our dorm. My back was leaned against the frame of my bed while Ren sat with his legs crossed. Pyrrha had both her legs under her, sitting on her legs and knees. I have no idea how that's comfortable for her. And of course Nora was hanging off Ren's side like a lazy sloth.
"As leader, I guess I'll go first. I love fighting and the thrill of it. I do also love listening to music in my spare time whenever, although I have no specific taste in music. I just like to listen to whatever sounds good. As for my abilities, I have a few. The main one you guys have seen is my ability to manipulate lightning. I have total control and can generate lightning at will, allowing me to do all sorts of things with it like make constructs or create condensed attacks of pure lightning. You've also seen my slashes, but I think I'll keep that as a surprise for now."
"Total control? What a versatile semblance you have. No wonder it seemed so powerful," Pyrrha commented with a raise of her eyebrows. I wasn't about to correct her about the semblance part. Better that no one knows my abilities aren't my actual semblance.
"Definitely one of the stronger semblances I've ever heard of. Even Nora only absorbs lightning to charge herself. She isn't able to generate it," Ren adds on.
"Yeah! I wish I could though! I'd be super Nora all the time then!"
"What about you Pyrrha?"
"Well, my hobbies include training and exercising. I do enjoy the occasional sweets, especially cakes. My semblance is polarity, which allows me to manipulate magnetic objects."
I decided to put in my own ideas for Pyrrha's semblance. I always felt like it was under utilized.
"You know Pyrrha, you shouldn't restrain yourself to just manipulating people's armor and weapons along with your own. Try expanding. For example, get a bunch of magnetic sand and learn to control it. Manipulate it to make barriers or weapons. Heck, try manipulating anything magnetic in the surrounding area to give yourself an advantage."
A look of contemplation followed by awe filtered across Pyrrha's face.
"I've... never thought about doing that. I've only messed with my opponent's weapons to misdirect them and occasionally put people off kilter by messing with their armor. I never imagined going for an all out polarity style with such variety. Thank you so much Ryze! I'll most certainly try that now!"
"No problem Pyrrha. What're friends for? Anyways, what about you Ren?"
Although I only barely noticed it from the corner of my eye, a warm smile bloomed on Pyrrha's face when she heard me say we were friends.
"I enjoy meditating along with studying plants. My semblance allows me to mute the negative emotions of myself and anyone I'm touching, allowing for easy hiding from any grimm."
Honestly, Ren's semblance was a pretty useful one specifically for grimm. However, for true person to person combat it wasn't all that practical. I honestly couldn't think of a way for him to utilize it more effectively for now.
"That's a handy semblance for when we're out hunting grimm. It'll definitely let us sneak attack any if need be. Now, what about you Nora?"
"I love pancakes! Anytime, anywhere! Syrup is also great! As for my sem-"
I hid my smirk as I made a comment I knew for sure would make Nora blow a fuse.
"I prefer waffles honestly. Don't care for pancakes."
I have no clue how, but it sounded like glass was breaking in the distance despite none breaking around us. Ren looked at me with a horrified look. It was actually the most emotion I've seen him display before.
"What... have you done," Ren spoke softly with a hidden terror in his voice.
To my left Pyrrha had a confused look.
"What do you mean Ren? I think it's fine if Ryze likes waffles over pancak-"
"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK SUCH BLASPHEMY?!"
The bomb that was now Nora exploded. Honestly, at that moment I was convinced she had been supercharged with lightning. She grabbed me by the shoulders and started aggressively shaking me so hard and fast I swear I was leaving afterimages.
"PANCAKES RULE SUPREME! WAFFLES ARE FILTH IN COMPARISON! FILTH I SAY!"
"Yeesh Nora, I just said I like waffles more. Plus, they hold syrup better and I like the crispy edges you can get with them-"
"INVALID REASONS! PANCAKES ARE FLUFFY DELIGHTS!"
---Thirty Minutes Later---
I cannot believe how long Nora rambled on about pancake supremacy. It took a while just to get her to stop shaking me. She really has a passion for pancakes.
"Well... moving on from all of that. You're semblance was absorbing lightning right Nora? I think we can work with that. What if while we fight together I just supercharge you throughout the fight with lightning?"
"That would be awesome! I'd be super me all fight without wasting any lightning dust! Sounds perfect!"
Ren scooched in and made sure to real Nora back in a bit.
"Nora, you have to remember you can't take in too much lightning. It sounds like a solid plan Ryze, but make sure Nora doesn't receive too much or she'll overload."
"Fine by me. Though, looking at the time we should start heading to dinner soon. I hear they're serving spaghetti and meatballs tonight."
We all got up and left our dorm. As we made our way over to the cafeteria, team RWBY happened to join us just as we were leaving. Looks like after dinner I'm gonna be showing Ruby some of my abilities. Hope she doesn't go feral.
