Chapter 29 - Communications

One Echelon Four member remains. Even so, there's still another problem the squad must face.

In the same building where Victor and Isabella had their battle—in a bunker at the outermost corner of the structure—a disturbing figure operates alone.

***

"Oh yes, my glorious Violet Myers… I'll complete my collection soon!"

Inside this room, Doji, the hacker hired by Echelon Four, types away at a computer provided to him.

"Hahaha! This hacker doesn't compare to my intellect. Oh, my dear Rubi Rose and my bop house warriors, my next tribute will be so exhilarating!" he exclaims, drooling and sniffling.

He slams the Enter key with a disturbing grin.

"Ahh yes… another attempt foiled. I can just imagine the delicate smile on my 6,000 OnlyFans girls' faces when they see the money hit their bank accounts. This is my easiest job yet!"

Suddenly, Doji freezes. A cold, wet sensation traces along his neck.

"Ahh fuck," he whispers, looking down to see a bloody knife pointed directly at his throat.

"Stop what you're doing and let our hacker bring communications back up, you fat fuck."

Doji slowly looks back to see Roxie standing over him with an irritated expression.

"Oh my, your body is perfect. Can I get a picture? Fap material? Actually… I think I want a body pillow of you."

Roxie's glare intensifies. Her blade presses in deeper, just enough to make him flinch.

"Wow, I'm flattered. So flattered that I'm gonna send your head to the ground early. Stop with the bullshit and stop fucking our hacker over, bitch."

"Right! Yes, ma'am! I'll take everything down right now—ouch! The knife! Please!" he squeals, typing frantically.

This is the second bitchless fat fuck I've had to deal with in the past three weeks, Roxie thinks, irritated. But this one… this one has something about him that naturally pisses me off.

She looks down. His pants are soaked.

This motherfucker pissed himself.

"Uhh okay, scary woman! I've taken down all my firewalls and everything else blocking out your hacker. She should be able to communicate and waltz into the fortress systems with ease!" Doji says, voice cracking.

"Amazing. Now be weird in hell."

She raises her blade.

"Wait, wait! I helped! Have mercy—I was only in it for the money!"

"You should've stuck to Discord. Now you die a virgin."

Roxie swings her blade, slicing cleanly through Doji's throat. Blood squirts violently as his body drops to the floor.

She presses her finger to her earpiece.

"Raven, you back on?"

***

After a brief burst of static, Raven's voice finally comes through.

"Finally got through. Can everyone hear me?"

"Yes, Roxie here. I hear you loud and clear," Roxie replies.

***

Outside the burning building, Axel lies on the ground, casually lounging.

"Took your mummy ass long enough. I had time to blow up a building and kill one of those Echelon Four members!" he remarks, laughing.

***

Meanwhile, back at Victor's building, the aftermath of his battle is clear. He walks out of the basement with blood splattered across his cheek, something dangling from his left hand.

"Hehe… glad to hear your voice again, Madam Raven. And to add to Axel's report…"

Victor glances back at Isabella's dismembered, feces-covered corpse, still twitching faintly.

"Let's just say I had a nice bathroom break," he mutters with a maniacal grin.

***

Over at the last building in the break room, Leon hides under a table, shivering.

Oh fuck, fuck, fuck! The communications just had to come back now. I thought I'd be able to avoid the mission!

"Hey Leon, you're there as well, correct?" Raven's voice calls out.

"Uhh… yes! I'm here!"

"Good. I have a job for you to do right now."

Why the hell did I even answer? Leon groans internally. "Sorry Raven, but I didn't find Tony Sparrow's family or fight any Echelon Four members… but I'm trying my hardest over here!"

"Leon, I hope you realize the earpiece tracks movement and your location for extended periods. You've been sitting in that same spot for seven minutes. Please don't treat me like a fool."

Damn earpiece!

"Leon! I need you to focus. I don't care about what you've been doing—you have the most important job right now."

Leon's eyes widen.

"Me? And important in the same sentence? Is this an alternate reality or something?"

"I'm not joking. I have gained full access to the fortress systems, including their cameras. I know where Tony Sparrow's family is hiding, and they're in your building. So move it!"

Leon freezes, all thoughts grinding to a halt.

"Damn it"
