Chapter 45 - Cold

Slowly Wellesley started to calm down and she asked seriously, "Are you sure you are fine, you are not lying are you?"

"yeah, nothing really happened, it was all a part of prank....you are worried for nothing, rest assured I am fine..

He paused and taking her hand his thoughts drifted, 'seeing her worry, and knowing that all those cute expressions she is making are for me..... no only for me for eternity is oddly satisfying, but why do I feel like I am the loosing control.... as if I am falling deeper..... I don't like it'

A few moments passed in silence but then, christopher continued, "I have to go now delay is no longer an option, Arslan might fall asleep sitting there and the clan leader will be dissatisfed and I might end up listening to his blabbering"

Wellesley could tell that Christopher was trying to distract her. But now she too could not do anything. She knew it was her fault, she was the one who reacted wrongly, so she decided that next time when both of them do all 'that stuff', she will try her best to satisfy him.

Christopher turned away, his thoughts elsewhere, 'get a grip if you do anything reckless or show your weakness Prince will be the first one to catch on and as someone who hates weakness, he might harm her'.

christopher was about to call Arslan, but before he could, Wellesley turned him to face her and said, "your highness are you in short of anything? I mean a magic scroll or anything else that I can help you with."

Looking at Wellesley, he gave a small smile and replied, "No, nothing. If you want to, then you can help me, in few days, something big is about to happen and when it does, my elder brother will need your help and you will play the role of a good employee of the imperial family, as the Ministry of Magic and help him, okay and one more thing make sure no one can trace it back to me."

Before Wellesley could understand what I was saying, I kissed her cheek one last time and said to her while turning away "for the rest. I will do it myself and for now, you can ask the inspection team to go that place no changes in time but ask them to add an extra seat in the carriage"

After talking, I went and stood with Aslam. I took out a teleportation scroll from my storage ring and I wrote the address of the place we had to reach on it and tore it.

A big light came out of that small paper and surrounded us both. Then I saw from the corner of my eyes that Wellesley was looking at me and gave her a smile, Meanwhile the light completely enveloped us, teleporting us.

Wellesley POV,

Hi, I'm Wellesley, ministry of magic of the Bluesta Empire one of the strongest in the continent and that's all I have to my name, and just like my name suggest I don't have a family, nor am I a noble, just a commoner, just an ordinary girl coming from the Slums, when I was 14 I had my coming of age ceremony not a grand one, it was just a social service as put by the Church of Akrat, a communal ceremony for all the orphans when they reached their adulthood, I wasn't a believer but still went there hoping to get a day's meal but something changed, I was able to use mana, an ability that was rare in the Empire atleast that's what the nun said, I didn't place any expectations knowing people like me didn't have a way to climb the social ladder anyway but to my utter disbelief, The Ministry of magic accepted me into them without discrimination, unlike others, which I am grateful for. In a society that is full of inequalities and desparity for commoners, having someone accept you as one of them means a lot and I was grateful for that and my disdain for the existing social system, all those years of hunger, oppressiveness and inequality were long forgotten. This small gesture from them was all that took and I found myself ready to do anything for the empire hypocritical right? I know, but what can I do? I wasn't someone who was willing to fight for the society or for change in the existing social norms. All I ever wanted in my life was a better life for myself which came in as a form of opportunity from the magic department and I grabbed it.

I thought my life would change for better and it did to some extent. But still some people were the same. They still viewed me as nothing but a commoner they could bully any time they wanted and this continued for a while,

During one of those days I found a boy, I was thrown into a lake by the noble kids who visited the palace for a banquet, I was advised against wandering around them. But I still entered the palace due to some duties and quite unsurprisingly they found me. I still remembered that day very clearly. It was one of the coldest days of the season and I was practically frezzing from the cold water, I was in desperate need of someone's help, because my magic was

no longer helpful, Magic restrictions devices were placed in the palace, which practically disabled anyone from using magic for the safety of the royal family, in case anyone used it they were practically dead because that could be considered an attack on the royal family.
