The plant calmly gazed back into his eyes; she could tell that if it weren't for him being somewhat unsure about the faint threat he sensed from her, he would have attacked her mercilessly the moment she appeared.

"I am here on behalf of my great one, the Hanging Tree, to propose an alliance with you, oh Pathfinder," she answered.

Apexion's eyes shone with countless thoughts and ideas. Great one, Hanging Tree? An alliance? No, that will never happen. In his mind, he didn't need an alliance with anyone; what he needed were pawns to do his bidding when he wanted and how he wanted. But,

"Tell me, who is the Hanging Tree? Is he worthy of being a partner of a creature such as me? And if he is worthy, what can he offer me in exchange for my alliance?" he questioned in a calm tone.
