Payne pinched the bridge of his nose as he thought about his imminent death. The moment they descended upon the mortal world, he felt himself weakening, and what was even worse was that the tyrant had sent a Supreme Chaos elemental to act as their overseer.
'Bullshit, that thing is here to make sure we are dead.'
He looked around; many of his brothers and sisters were here to die, yet he could not find Natura or Fortuna. If they weren't here, it meant only one thing: Chrunus had killed them both himself for some unknown reason.
A tear ran down his cheek; he had loved his sisters, yet they were now most likely gone. Fortuna had hoped they would have a chance for rebellion, yet just before she could do anything, they were all sent to their imminent death.
With a sigh, he turned towards the town they were supposed to invade. Initially, the plan was to just fight Demi-Human forces, yet Chrunus had ordered a different target. It was some quaint, pathetic-looking town.
Yet when Payne cast his gaze upon it, he knew something was wrong. There were entities far stronger than he was, and what's worse, they seemed to be waiting for them. "Great..." He truly did not wish to die, yet if he had disobeyed Chrunus, it would have been instant erasure.
'I guess that's what happened to my sisters...' He sighed. The Supreme Chaos was following them closely, yet unseen. It was an unfortunate situation, all things considered. Instead of the target of the beings that were gathered in the pathetic little town in front of him being the elemental, it would be him and his brothers and sisters.
However only saving grace was that there were 14 gods; the victory was not as unattainable as one might have thought. Yet, he truly was hesitant to fight. This was not something any of them wished to do.
Alas, the god of Chaos had decided it so. The gods stood at viewing distance from the town, the Chaos observed them from the shadow, yet as the gods prepared to cast a powerful attack on the town, they were blinded by the radiance of the sun itself manifested at the location of the gate.
Payne wanted to faint, as did the other gods. If they had fought the being that appeared, they would have died. The rain started. Unnatural dark clouds formed above them and poured the monsoon.
Winds raged around them. Then they noticed 2 more entities appear next to the Sun. Payne cracked a smile in understanding. It was Fortuna and Natura. It made sense why Chrunus wished for them to destroy this place.
The rebellion that Fortuna planned was staged from this place. It was rather ingenious, inside Iguva's territory, and remote enough for nobody to question the weird happenings. He turned to others in acknowledgment.
They would fight the Supreme Elemental. They would not ruin Fortuna's last hope even if it cost them their lives. Instead of directing their attacks at the town, they turned towards the shadow that followed them.
"Ilicebmi, etindapan!" The elemental screeched as the dark mist swirled in front of them.
Payne flared his nostrils, "No, Fortuna planned this for far too long! Chrunus will not see us fall!" Instantly gods of light, death, and blood gathered behind him. He, as the god of magic, was rather powerful; however, he too was severely weakened by Chruns.
[Elemental Mastery: Fire], [Elemental Mastery: Water], [Elemental Mastery: Air], [Elemental Mastery: Earth]. The 4 elemental forces swirled around him, the wind that raged around them bent around him, the earth shattered, and the flames sparked to life. [Elemental Convergence: Ultima]
The four Elements converged and shattered. They swirled around themselves as they formed an elemental singularity. A microcosmos of elemental forces now existed within the palm of his hand.
'Despite being my strongest attack, it won't be enough.' He shuddered as he nodded to the others. Every god would use everything they had, even if they erase themselves with it. They all loved Fortuna; nobody would wish to ruin her plan to end the tyranny of Chrunus.
They were survivors, the last remnants of the old order. The elemental's mists churned and turned. The gods did not wait. In an instant, the combined spells of all the divine entities crashed into the dark elemental.
Payne felt as if he had just expended half of his remaining life, yet he could only smile. The elemental was missing half of itself. It's form burned in the fire of order. It shrieked and recoiled, yet it did not die.
Payne's lips twitched, "Of course it did not die." The other gods collapsed after their attack. He alone stood tall despite lightheadedness. He fell forward and stared up. The elemental reconstructed itself.
"Chrunus, ej oib uvarpu." The elemental's voice rang in his ear, yet he pushed himself up. "Divine pride, my ass..." What was the point of pride when they were glorified slaves?
He turned back toward the town. Whatever the being that was accompanied by Natura and Fortuna was certainly glorious. It eclipsed even Celara in her prime. In his final moments, he would find solace that his sister was able to get the help from entities she had trusted so much.
In an instant, the reality around them started cracking. He closed his eyes and awaited his fate. The elemental did not need to resort to using an apex skill, yet it wanted them to feel fear in their hour of twilight.
Payne forced shut his eyes.
[Water Dominion: Rivers of Eden], Once again, the broken reality was repaired and replaced by the most holy Gardens.
Before his eyes, multiple streaks of silver rushed towards each god. In a moment, he was grabbed by a young-looking harpy who dragged him away from the battlefield in a moment.
However, he couldn't admire his rescuer, despite her being beautiful. The god of magic merely stared at the gardens that formed, and in the middle of them stood a woman with a parasol in her hand.
Yet to him, it was as if the Sun had fallen onto the earth.
