"I'm sorry mommy."
"No need to apologize bud. Just give it your best shot, you'll be amazing like me one day! The best mage in the land!"
"R-really…?"
"Of course, mommy says so. So, it has to be true."
"Woah…"
Iris' eyes filled brightly, even in the moment of failing her spell, she felt more rejuvenated than ever. As if she could do anything at the moment. Rowan scoffed at the remark as he looked away from the two. She slowly walked over to him and placed her hand on his head, moving her fingers through his ruffled hair.
"You're amazing too you know, knowing so many spells at your age, you're a natural."
"It's…nothing really."
He said as a blush covered his freckled face, causing him to avert his gaze as the parents shared a small laugh with one another. Her face was filled with a brightly freckled smile as she looked at her family with eyes full of love. Even dealing with the issue at hand for herself, she felt that she could power through anything as long as she had them. She slowly set down Iris before looking around for a moment.
"Alright, that's enough out of me…I should probably go back to bed…I didn't take my medicine today."
"You didn't!?"
"Whoops…hehe."
Instantly, the man picked up his wife and began to drag her away from the children, presumably forcing her to go rest. She waved frantically at the kids with a smile on her face.
"Iris, keep practicing, you'll only get better the more you practice! Rowan, take care of your sister, it's your duty! You're the next head of the Laurier's after all! Haha!"
"Please Marie, you're moving around too much…"
"Go, my children, go!"
The two watched as the doors shut behind them, with the last sight of their mother before returning to her resting place. Iris picked up the book off of the ground and seemed to be more determined than ever after the words. She instantly began to flip through the pages and studied the pages harder than ever.
Rowan looked at her and let out a sigh, knowing that he'd usually refuse to help. Though if it was his mother, he'd more than likely do whatever she wanted. As he looked up to her in every aspect as a spellcaster, he'd only hope to make both her and his father proud. Also knowing that if this was something that'd help that case as much as he hates it, he'd do it.
